(25:32-35) God uses people who have patience and restraint (sometimes through others) As David is about to take his revenge on Nabal, what aspects of Christ-like relationship do you see in this exchange? (Leader, see LDG) 2. (26:10-11, 23) God uses people who are teachable. David has a second chance to kill Saul, what s the difference seen in David here in 26:23 versus the other opportunity in 24:5? a. What about David do you see in the situation with Nabal? (25:38) (Leader, see LDG) b. Talk about a time in your life where you ve left justice up to God? Have you? 3. God uses people who apply wisdom (27:9-10) - David responds in service and honor to Achish when forced to live in his hostile Kingdom? a. Name the situations in your life where you re forced to submit to ungodly people in a godly way and using godly wisdom. 4. (29:4-5) God uses people with a growing witness. Talk about a time when a friend, co-worker, family member, recognized your faith. a. Read 1 Peter 3:15 - When was the last time this happened to you? My Circle / Missional component: Aware of the relationships God has placed you in and the gifts he has given you, in what way can you be a benefit to those around you at work? Home? Neighbors? Prayer: Oh Lord craft and shape me into a soldier for your work; one who is proactive and relentless to love others with fervor and gentleness, pointing everyone to the love I have found in you. 1 Samuel 25-27,29

3 - God uses the haters (Those who hate sin) Group discussion/personal Study 1. Sin affects the community- Where in your community/neighborhood have you seen how sin affects? (Leader, see LDG) 2. Sin affects the family a. As you re comfortable, discuss how sin has affected your family, immediate or extended. b. Talk as a group what forgiveness could look like in those scenarios. How could you apply the healing power of the gospel to those relationships? 3. Sin affects the individual - Split up into Men and Women and discuss the following: a. Are you struggling with sin that your brothers/sisters can pray for you for? (James 5:16) b. Share victories over sin that God has brought you through and celebrate. My Circle / Missional Component How will you take the gospel into your community to address the effects of sin? Prayer Lord s prayer - Matthew 6:9-13 Youth Component: How does sin affect your school? How do you see sin s effects on your family? How does sin affect you personally? What sin(s) do you deal with? Are there times where you ve found yourself uncomfortable in worship? If so why? Uncomfortable in worship at work, at school, home alone, etc.? 2. Discuss your church history worship style? Did this style help or hinder your heart towards God? 3. God gave Israel a second chance when he brought the ark back. He gave us a second chance in Christ today. How has this affected your worship today? 4. Talk about your worship experience when you went to church before you knew Christ and now after knowing Christ. Is it different? If so, how? MyCircle/Missional Component This week, share a part of your worship experience (whether private, church, community group) with a lost person. Prayer Lord, teach me how to worship you from the heart and not for others. Youth Component: Define worship Are you sometimes nervous to worship in your daily life (school, work, etc)? If so, why? What would your lost friends think if they saw you worship on Sunday? What areas of your life change when you are genuinely worshipping God with your life? 2 Samuel 6:16-23

(John 10:10, Matt. 11:28-30, John 16:33) What area of your life do you need Jesus to bring you peace and rest? 2. Why is it important that Jesus was related to David? (Leader see LDG) 3. Read verse What does this tell us about people whom God loves? 4. Verse 16 - This promise is still happening today. How do we participate in this promise today? MyCircle/Missional Component Who in your life do you know who needs rest and peace? How will you share and show it to them? Prayer Lord Jesus, help me to see you in scripture. Help me to see and to know the rest that only you can bring. Thank you that you are coming again and best rest is yet to come. Youth Component: Jesus was related to David (Matthew 1:6-17). Why is that important? Why is it important to know that God keeps His promises? How does a person get to know Jesus as the Messiah? Take heart.}*ldg Group discussion/personal Study 1. Name all the steps that lead toward sin, the small compromising factors we see of David in this chapter. 2. What can you do to keep yourself from temptation? 3. David was able to exercise self-control when tempted to kill Saul. What does Chapter 11 show us about the power of sexuality? 4. How does the gospel offer hope to those who have sinned sexually? 5. Jesus family history was a mess. How does this give you hope? MyCircle / Missional component: How does this help you have compassion for those who are trapped in sin? Stop and pray for them now. Group Prayer Split into men and women and pray for each other in this area. Youth Component What small compromises led David to sin? What small compromises do you easily get into? What is the proper response after you ve sinned? What does the fact that Jesus family history is so messed up tell us about God s grace? What does this mean for you and your family?
