1 Course Title: 4 th Grade Bible Fourth Grade Bible Course Map Duration: one school year Frequency: 4 class periods weekly, 40 minutes each Year : 2013 Text: 4 th Grade Building Life Castles (Positive Action Bible Curriculum) Other materials: NIV Bible Areas to be evaluated: -memorization of scripture passages -ability to locate individual books and chapters in Bible -recall of factual knowledge -identification of scriptural principles for daily living -application of scriptural principles for daily living Additional activities: -prayer -scripture memory game, contest, or recitation activities -memorization of books of the Bible Course goals: Students will: -study God s Word with teacher guidance -discover they themselves can find answers in God s Word to problems in life -order correctly the Old Testament and New Testament books -classify books of the Bible under category names (e.g. Law, History) -compare words and actions of Christ or Paul to their opponents -arrange events in Biblical account in chronological order -remember facts recorded in God s Word -discern truth from concepts set forth in God s Word -decide how Holy Scriptures speak to specific situations in daily living -examine how God dealt with individuals in Biblical history -relate how God dealt with individuals to what God values and thinks -grow in godly character -record and use definitions of Bible vocabulary -recognize names and locations of the land of Israel Course explanation: Fourth grade Bible class consists of studying the life of Christ by looking at selected scripture as recorded in the Gospels, the person and work of the Holy Spirit from the Gospels, Acts, and the Epistles, Christ-like character qualities from the letters of Paul, and an overview of Paul s life from Acts. Students weekly memorize one or two of a longer passage and then spend a week reviewing the entire passage. Unit: The Life of Christ Time frame: 13 weeks Scripture memory 1 Corinthians 13:1-7; Ephesians 6:1-9 Students will examine scriptures about Jesus Christ to conclude that He is God, He is eternal, He lived as a human, He is powerful, and He is the way of salvation through His crucifixion and resurrection. Students will deduct from study of the Word of God that the Holy Spirit is God, was sent by God to live in believers to be a comforter, give them power, and be in control of the believer s life.
