2 Kevin s Comments LET S MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR HIM I believe that God has placed our church in this place for a purpose bigger than we think. I believe God is calling all of us to live out our faith 7 days a week. Just like Jesus did seeing a need, stopping, and then serving. I AM SO THANKFUL our church is doing that! Fireworks Celebration here, meals to kids, V.B.S., the rice packing event concert, FORWARD IN FAITH, etc. are all indicators of the difference we are seeking to make for Him. One additional cool thing is called the Dollar Difference. We simply ask everyone to give one extra dollar in the offering plates as you leave the service. Each month we give that money to a worthy person or cause, then report to you how the money was spent. We ve done this several times in the past year and the DIFFERENCE you are making is so inspirational! This is a time when the world needs us to be 7 day living for Jesus. Everything you have is a gift from God your money, your health, your talent, your work, your family, and your opportunities. God expects you to make the most of each of these. The word for that in the Bible is called stewardship. Stewardship is the Old English word for management. And just as you manage your time and your money, you also manage your influence. God expects you to use your influence to help other people. In fact, it s quite selfish to say, I don t really care about the rest of the world. I don t care about helping anyone else but me. Friend you were planted here for a purpose. A reason beyond just you. What is that? Only one way to find out Live each day for Him. Start looking for opportunities to see, stop, and serve. Someday we re going to give an account to God of how well we did that for other s good and for His glory. FORWARD IN FAITH is a way for you to partner together with us to continue to make an impact for the Lord. Commitment Sunday is July 8th and I hope you will see the need and look to do your part in helping meet the need. All commitments are for three years and are used to pay down the debt of our facilities, freeing us to make a greater difference for the Lord. Jesus said, Let your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven. Jesus also said for us to be the salt of the earth. That s what being a 7 day Christian is all about. Be a brighter light and a stronger salt. Let s get out of our salt shakers and into the area and the world and make a difference for Him. Please contact Facebook page: When I was a kid one of the first gaming systems that I was given and was mine to have, not to have to share with my brothers, was a Gameboy Color and the first game I got was called Pokemon Blue version. I still have that game today and it was one of the biggest games to come out. On occasion I ll jump on the internet and various websites looking up the selling value of my game. On one site I saw someone selling the game which was still in its original package unopened and unplayed for $3,000. My game in its current condition was only worth $40. It may not have been as valuable as the other game but I did consider how badly I wanted that extra $40 if I sold it. I then looked up other games I played, finding people selling the same games unopened and unplayed for the same price as quality home appliances. After doing some math, I concluded that if I had not played with anything from my childhood I would have a brand new car. Though I could have had a lot of money, setting aside how I could not have possibly known that when I was a kid, not playing those games makes them absolutely useless and worthless. The games were meant to be played and enjoyed because that was their purpose and the value they brought. The scratch marks, fading of the cover picture, and discoloring of the game cartridge weren t marks of value loss but value given. One of the biggest misunderstandings I ve witnessed in my lifetime about being baptized and becoming a Christian is that once you are baptized your sins are washed away and you get to go to heaven IF you live a good life from now on. So to make sure that was accomplished people isolated themselves in attempt to make sure nothing could ever be a blemish on their Christian life to maintain the worthy value of eternal salvation. Shying away and shunning tough conversations and avoiding people who may threaten or compromise the legitimacy of a good life was actually devaluing what it meant to be a Christian. Christian was a word used to describe the radical believers of the first century and in its original meaning was an insult meaning little christs. Amazing how an intended insult perfectly describes exactly what we are called to do: exemplify Christ to others. Christ stepped out of heaven to reach the broken, dirty, messed up, fallen people of the world rather than the ones who tried to maintain their purity in vanity. The funny thing is that unopened game was only valuable to a few people who would actually spend that much money for a hunk of outdated plastic that was meant to be played. While being a pure Christian may be valuable, it is only valuable to a handful of people while defeating the very thing Christ has called us to do: to go out into the world to be a beacon of his light in the dark places where messed up people are lost. We will get bumped, scratched, worn, and at times broken. That is why we have a Savior to redeem and strengthen. Our value truly lies in being what He has made us to be. Joe

4 What s Happening Here at Church? Every week plates are set out for a free will offering of a dollar. At the end of the month the money collected is given to someone in the community in need. Church members can recommend someone who has been hit with difficult times. Application forms are available at the Welcome Center or on our web page at sardiniacc.com under Our Ministries/The Dollar Difference. Getting involved can make a dollar difference for someone! Prayer Meeting on Sunday, July 1st Meet at the church at 6:00 p.m. for a time set aside for prayer for our families, for this church, for our community, for our state, for our nation, and for our individual needs. We ll be praying for protection from Satan and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms and against the spirits of bondage/addiction, unbelief, pride, and fear operating in our country. Then we can experience first hand the strong arm of God and His Spirit moving through our land. To God be the glory! Amen. Women s Bible Study At 6:30 p.m. we ll be meeting on July 2nd, July 16th, and July 30th. This is an open forum and an in depth study of the Bible which is open to all women.

5 What s Happening Here at Church? Fitness Activities At 6:30 p.m. every Monday classes in Zumba Tone and every Wednesday classes in Zumba will meet. However, both evenings the church building will be unlocked for those who wish to walk inside or outside. (The track is available for use at any time.) Each session costs $2 per person. Questions? See Kevin or Cathy Hamilton. Note: No class this Wednesday because it is July 4th, Independence Day. Euchre Night at the church on Friday, July 6th from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Refreshments are provided. Come and enjoy a fun time of fellowship. 24 HOUR PRAYER VIGIL JULY 6TH AND 7TH The prayer vigil will begin on Friday, July 6th, at 9:00 p.m. and continues through Saturday, July 7th, at 9:00 p.m. The purpose of this special prayer time is community outreach. As a help, prayer guides are available at the Welcome Center next to the sign up sheets. Choose your half hour time slot and put the power of prayer to work for the Lord. This is something we all can do.

6 What s Happening Here at Church? Details on the Fourth of July Celebration! Sardinia Church of Christ will be hosting, for the entire community, a Fourth of July celebration on Saturday, July 7th, with music, food, games, bouncy houses, and FIREWORKS. All free! Fun for the entire family! NEW FORWARD IN FAITH CAPITAL CAMPAIGN BEGINS THIS MONTH! We ve come a long way but we have just a bit further to go to retire the mortgage on our beautiful church building. With this new campaign goal of $360,000 over the next three years something less than $360,000 will remain on the mortgage. The end is in sight. On July 1st an All Church Pizza Party is being held following Morning Worship for the purpose of fellowship and praying for this new campaign and for the Community Outreach of our hosting the Fourth of July Celebration. July 8th has been proclaimed as Forward in Faith Commitment Sunday when you submit your Commitment cards. On July 15th the Forward in Faith Campaign commitments for July 2018 through July 2021 will be announced. Mustardseed Ministries Free and delicious meals will once again be prepared for anyone in the church and the community beginning on Friday, October 26th. Please check October bulletins or this October publication for any updates. This ministry is being spearheaded by Sharon Clifton and Emily Shuemake.

7 Announcements Vacation Bible School Statistics Number of People Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Students Staff Another year of Vacation Bible School has come and gone. Once again it was quite a success as we were Shipwrecked and learning that Jesus Rescues! On Monday we challenged the kids to raise $500 for Lifeline Christian Mission to help support the rice meal packing efforts to send meals to other countries. A total of $ far exceeded our expectations! As a reward the kids delighted in throwing water balloons at willing staff. Some of us were quite wet!! This event ended our fun filled week of learning about Jesus and how He is always with us and can rescue us in any situation if we just lean on Him. My many, many heartfelt thanks to all who helped with VBS in any way. From kitchen staff, teachers, crew leaders, picture and video staff, bell ringer, behind the scenes guys who helped with decorations, the church staff, those who donated needed items and, last but not least, all the prayers the were said for all the staff and children. I count this an extra special VBS success as we had 4 children baptized here and at least one other at another church. This is our ultimate goal: to lead children to Jesus. PRAISE GOD!! Again my thanks as many of you knew it was a difficult week for me personally and I truly appreciate all the love, prayers and support. God Bless You All. Janie Wills

To God Be The Glory! Amen. Capital Campaign Status as of June 24, 2018 Amount Received Amount Remaining is $348, is $0 The amount received is 102% of the pledged amount! Great job! The new Forward in Faith Capital Campaign begins with Commitment Sunday on July 8th when you turn in your Commitment Cards. On July 15th the results will be reported. Because of your faithfulness the church building mortgage will soon be retired. To God be the glory!

9 Announcements CMF ANNUAL YARD SALE This year the yard sale is scheduled for August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. The location remains at the corner of SR 32 and Freeh Road. Running from daylight to dark it does end at noon on Saturday, August 4th. Donations are accepted and may be dropped off at the location. If items need picked up please call Scott Mays at to make arrangements. All proceeds help to fund construction of church buildings and schools in Haiti. Suggested donations for July are chalk, crayons (no larger than 24 pack), erasers, scissors, notebooks and your empty shoe boxes. Sardinia s Hamburger/Tuna Helper, Pasta Sauce (Hunt s cans work well), Peanut Butter, Jelly, Crackers (saltines), Boxed Mashed Potatoes, Canned Fruits. Currently we are well stocked on Canned Vegetables.
