3 Friends, PASTOR'S PAGE Maundy Thursday is traditionally the service where we remember Jesus' last meal with his disciples, the traditional Passover Meal. That night became Holy Communion in Jesus blessing. In this sacrament our Lord bring us forgiveness, salvation, and Jesus' continuing spiritual presence with us. Usually we celebrate Maundy Thursday Communion in a traditional service in the sanctuary. This year we will celebrate communion around tables in the fellowship hall at the conclusion of our Maundy Thursday Seder Meal (which includes a chicken soup supper). This is a Christian service similar to the Seder Meal celebrated yearly as families in homes either the first or second day of the Passover Holiday in Jewish homes. We will celebrate the Seder meal as a church family. The service is completed with the tradition celebration of Holy Communion, and Jesus' promise of salvation to all who believe. Our Worship Committee, Session, and myself all hope you will plan to attend, and experience the story of salvation in this meal and service. Blessings, Bonnie FOOD SHELF SUNDAY The first Sunday of each month has been designated as Food Shelf Sunday. On this particular Sunday we are encouraged to bring items to be taken to our local Sharing Center. The Deacons collect the items on the following Tuesday and take them to the center. The items are much needed and greatly appreciated. Prayer Chain is a way for people to gain assistance in prayer. Sometimes circumstances limit our ability to participate in activities in the church, but we can all pray and act on God s command to love one another. Being part of the prayer chain is a way for each of us to reach out of ourselves for the sake of another in our church family. Please consider adding your name to our list of prayer partners. Contact Renee Harnack or to become part of our prayer chain. DEACONS REPORT Deacons meeting was held on March 15, Devotions and Secretary reports were read. There were three prayer chain requests in February, Deacons visited 10 shut ins and 17#'s in February and 38#'s in March of food was brought to the Sharing Center. New Business: Jody and Tonya will do bulb gardens for shut-ins for Easter. Motion to give Sew Blessed $75 for Birthday bags passed. Deacons need to get in touch with someone at Winfair about backpacks because Diane Sykora has been transferred to the Middle School for next year. Deacons have $ in the account. Pastor Bonnie closed the meeting with prayer. Deanna Jensen, Secretary Devotional Booklets are provided by the Deacons as an ongoing ministry and are available on the tables in the entryways. Interested in reading the Valley Bridge from the Presbytery of MN Valleys? Go online at and click on Valley Bridge or there is a link on WindomPres.org. You can pick up a Presbyterian Planning Calendar in the office for $10.00 ea. THANK YOU for donating food items and cash to the March Food Share drive. Committee on Congregational Nurture: I would like to introduce to you and provide a little insight on the Committee on Congregational Nurture. Our group was organized just over a year ago; as part of the New Pres Team as part of the Presbytery. Currently, we have 9 members on our team. Our team was brought together as a way to be a liaison to the church family and the presbytery. Each member of the team has been assigned a "neighborhood"; this year I have been fortunate to have the following churches: Cambria Presbyterian; First Presbyterian - Lake Crystal; First Presbyterian - Madelia; First Presbyterian - Mountain Lake; First Presbyterian - St. James and First Presbyterian - Windom. Our role is to be in contact with each of our neighborhood churches to be like a "deacon" - listening... caring... communicating and connecting. We are not the problem solvers, but can provide resources if the situation needs. The team meets either by conference call or "face - face" throughout the year. Within our meeting; we discuss the "joys" or "concerns" that our neighborhood church may convey to us. My fellow team members are: John Lindholm, Bill Yueill, Dennis Peterson, Keith Lohse, Jan Prehn, Bob Bartlett, Jean McCallum and Herb Rotunda We are currently redesigning our brochure that can provide additional detail on our committee. I am hoping this provided to you a little insight. Peace and Light Sue Goebel

7 Church Stewardship We have done so many wonderful things as a church recently. Such as... OMG Committee finding needs in the community and following through with fundraiser to provide services for different families that need our help. Helping the school children with the Backpack Buddies Program sending food home with the less fortunate for the weekend so they have something to eat while not in school. Sew Blessed starting the Birthday Bags, furnishing items to make a birthday cake and small toys for a gift to be handed out at the Sharing Center. Reaching out to the shut-ins at the Sogge home by providing a special worship service there. Our Cookie Campaign, delivering cookies to the neighbors and introducing ourselves and letting them know we are here for them. A new ministry that will be starting is the Lunch Buddy program, church members will be having lunch a couple times a month with an elementary child. That doesn't even include the other missions we give to as a church: Heifer Project, OGHS, Pentecost offering, etc. So many great and wonderful opportunities for our church to be involved in not only in our community, but the presbytery and around the world. Let's not forget OUR CHURCH is also a mission, we need a place to worship and gather, and even though, we have been very good at maintaining the church building itself, we still need to remember we have everyday needs to keep it running. With that in mind, please keep the general budget in your thoughts and prayers when making donations.
