1 T R I NITY TIDINGS Trinity Lutheran Church November 2017 Pastor s Page Friends in Christ, I hope that many of you had time to reflect on and appreciate the 500th anniversary of the reformation. I have found myself in a perpetual state of awe at the sheer magnitude of the movement that Luther helped begin. Most of those who are Christian today have been impacted by what took place so long ago. It is encouraging to see how much of an impact one person can have on the world when they are driven by their faith and desire to live out the Gospel. The reformation began simply enough, with one man expressing grave concern about the fear that the common person had about where they stood in the eyes of God. Luther wanted everyone to know the love and forgiveness that God offers to us in Christ, and that this love was a free gift. I have made this the primary focus of my ministry as a Pastor. I hope every sermon and teaching that I have done has reinforced this message in your lives. As we move forward, we do so with the confidence that God is with us, and that our lives lived in faith will continue to honor what began 500 years ago. May grace and peace be your constant companion as you walk with Christ on this journey we call life. And may you find comfort knowing that the destination for all of us is one immersed in the eternal presence of God. God Bless, Pastor Jon Katie Luther Presentation 2017 marks the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Join us in the sanctuary at 6:30 pm on November 8 when professional storyteller Patti Kachel will introduce us to Martin Luther s beloved wife, Katie Luther: Here I Stand. Dressed in Medieval costume with a German accent, Katie s inspiring life story is told in the narrative style. Based on extensive research, this presentation is historically accurate and seasoned with good humor. Through this creative characterization listeners will learn about her abundant life. Please join us! Member Appreciation Breakfast Trinity Lutheran Church Council wants to say a special THANK YOU to our members; for all of those who support us through their volunteerism, prayers, financial support, etc. A Member Appreciation Breakfast will be served from 9a-10a (between the services) on Sunday, November 19th. Egg bakes, meat, fruit, coffee and juice will be served. All are welcome! Back by popular demand.don t miss out on being a part!!! In December of 2015, singers and instrumentalists came together to celebrate the wonder of Jesus birth in the music of Joy! Unspeakable Joy! From the title song by Chris Tomlin, to contemporary Christian Christmas songs Light of the Stable, and If You Listen, along with traditional Christmas carols and even a little Hallelujah Chorus, this choral service has something for both singers and listeners. You are invited to add your voice to the choir as we bring this music to life once again. Rehearsals will start Wednesday, October 25th. You may attend either the 11:15-noon or 6:00-6:45 pm. Joy! Unspeakable Joy! will be shared during worship on Sunday, December 10 th at both the 8:00 & 10:00 worship services. Please talk to Deb if you would like to be a part of the choir for this musical endeavor. There are books and CDs for you to take home and get a head start! You can reach Deb at church by calling (651) ext. 14, ing daulich@trinitynorthbranch.org or by stopping by the choir pit/organ & piano area on Sunday mornings. Don t find yourself wishing on December 11 th that you had been a part of the joy filled music celebration of Christ s birth! Add your voice now!

2 EDGE is in full swing and we have been busy with fundraisers and nature outings! On Friday, September 29th, there was no school so a small group of us went hiking in Interstate Park, WI. It was a gorgeous fall day to be out in God s creation! On Sunday, October 8th, several youth and a couple of adults participated in the annual fall roadside clean up project. Check out Trinity s facebook page for pictures 2018 Mission Trip news: On September 27th the group voted to take a Youthworks Mission Trip to Denver, Colorado in July 2018! We will be serving in the city at various sites, including soup kitchens, nursing homes and clothing distribution centers. So far there are 13 youth registered for this trip!! The youth have already hosted a couple of fundraisers and your support has been greatly appreciated. As we move in to the holiday season, EDGE is looking forward to Salvation Army Bell Ringing, Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Packing and a trip to the OCC Shoebox Processing Center in Minneapolis! Thank you all for keeping the youth in your prayers. We wish you all a November filled with blessings and a peaceful Thanksgiving. Upcoming Dates to know: November 1: 6:30 November 15: 6:30 Shoebox Packing Party Sunday, November 5: EDGE hosts coffee hour November 22: NO EDGE-Thanksgiving Weekend November 8: 6:30 (Katie Luther Presentation in the Sanctuary) November 29: 6:30 Children s Ministry News We have been having a wonderful time learning Bible stories and making new friends in Sunday School! October lessons brought to life the stories of Moses, Samuel and Martin Luther. This first batch of lessons is designed to help us remember the abundant blessings God provides for His people. The coolest part is that none of the people in these stories were perfect they each had some issues and they all doubted their ability to serve in the way in which they were asked. God, as always, knew better and equipped them with what they needed and blessed them along the way. On October 15 th, 12 children were presented with Bibles and 22 Sunday School and Confirmation leaders were installed during the 10:00 service. Please keep these children and adults in your prayers as each of them dive deeper into the Bible this school year. Happy Thanksgiving! From growing up in a small farming community to living in the big city, she loves stories that came from observing life in the real world. She believes everyone has a story and everyone's story is important. She high fives you when you do your happy dance, and whispers, "You are not alone" when the messiness comes. Gaye is the author of God, Girlfriends, & Chocolate, and This is Livin'! She serves as the Midwest Regional Director for Christian Women in Media, and is past president of the National Speakers Association - MN Chapter. We will also need donations of Christmas cookies for dessert to help keep our catering costs down. You may bring them to the church and place them in the kitchen marked "Advent Tea".
