1 LC Council Notes September 2016 Attendance - Travis Jones, Don Brownfield, Greg Faber, Rita Faber, David Good, Aidan Lyerly, Steve Brooks, Christy Good, Greg Elder, Dan DeYoung, Kyle Geisler, Denise Roberts, Michael Cromwell, Harry Booth, Marty Towner, Tina Kirkland. Devotion & Opening Prayer - Aidan Lyerly *At times be careful your motivation may be in the wrong place. *Everyone has a retreat high *Way of wisdom vs. pride * You can lose satisfaction and joy and find it hard to worship. *Aidan read Psalm 52 and Psalm 13 *He spoke of a emotional time his family went through in losing Lucy but what the candlelight vigil at Etowah brought to many. *Aidan spoke about snowbird and the impact it made on his life and will continue to make on the lives of many. * He spoke of the youth of Hillside and the support of the adults that pour in the youth continually and the leadership in that program. *Aidan spoke highly of returning to the gospels to see things in the word with a new lense. Wellspring Update - Denise Roberts This process has been years of prayer. The Women of Hillside is

2 very descriptive and we were called to be more. Denise had a meeting with Lauren Cox in May to come up with a new logo and a look and this was right up her alley as this was her talent and she went to work and shortly after logo s were brought before a group to approve. Some women in the past thought the Women of Hillside was something for them to join, Or sign up for. This change was not taken lightly the scripture for this : ( Please read again) Proverbs 4:23 Jeremiah Jeremiah 2:13 John 4: 13 Wellspring is firmly anchored in the scripture. Community is also where women could meet it was the well. Gather in Community is very important. Gather in Community and meet Jesus is very important. Women can drink from the well and gain life to pour into their families and friends and children and themselves. Denise mentioned it was hard for her and team adopting this language and they will slip but is asking us to help them out and adopt the language as well. Women love the new name and they have been getting great feed back.

3 Harry Booth brought up the new logo and showed everyone. Pray for the retreat 47 women from Hillside attending and 9 from a church in Kennesaw. My Hillside Serves - Christy Good (see attachment) Formerly known as the Great Day of Service - The chance come from the need to be known for serving more than one day a year. That serving comes all the time through Christ. He calls us to serve and serve often. This was brought to Christy s attention over and over again. This is the 10 year anniversary so a name change could be in fitting order. 7 locations (fewer locations will build relationships) Build Community in larger working groups. Hillside also has a relationship with all 7 working locations. Lunch will be delivered at locations this year. (Eating together / Serving together) Sign up now!!! Missions offering was $32,360

4 Finance / Stewardship Report - Don Brownfield (see attachment) Don recapped highlights from meeting that was held on September 19 th. I added the notes from that meeting. Addition suggestions added were: My Hillside graphics for generosity - Harry Booth Videos and live storytelling - Greg Elder Meet with Lauren Cox and Jeanne Sperry for a logo - Christy But most importantly lets keep rolling in the direction we are in was the groups heart because we are on track. That was repeated several times. Spiritual Formation - Marty Towner & Travis Jones Points of Contact Freedom Basics - Susan Purifoy Men s & Women s - Denise Roberts & Travis Jones Alpha & Growth Track - Marty Towner Bible Studies - Jim Weaver & Neil Matthews Marriage & Family - Rachel Blend Small Group - Sirena Courtney Sunday School - In progress Marty spoke about invitations and how important it is to invite, a great way to invite is to learn.

5 Sunday School has opportunities at 9:30 Harry Booth starting a new class. Growth Track has 5 new people in the current class. Not good participation for Alpha. Disciple 1, 2, 3 have started (17 people in Disciple 3) Alpha could connect youth and CCM ministry. Right Now Media has 260 active users. Financial Peace University (taught by Greg Elder) will start on October 9 th. 5 people enrolled (3 are visitors to Hillside) Freedom Basics is right on track - More small groups are going through it. Please use the search engine on the Hillside website when asking others to join a group - We have open spots. Be on the lookout this week for a spiritual formation survey - Please take it and give valuable feedback.

6 SPRC - Harry Booth Excited for the addition of Jenny Hurt which will start on October 17 th. Pastor Reviews Completed Charge Conference October 30 th (directly after 11:00 worship) Staff Compensation Plan to be formerly updated Policy Manuel is well underway for all updates Christy Good - Mothers Morning Out Looking for volunteers to help with Mops from 9:00 to 11:30 - If you can carry a baby or push a stroller please volunteer. Greg Elder - Thank you for the prayers and the support for the mission trip to Orphanage Emmanuel - They had a team of 25. Please plan to attend or invite someone on a future trip. Thank you to the Elder s for your leadership.

7 We had a time of sharing from the heart where for about 30 minutes the Holy Spirit was speaking to many in the room to testify personally it was great and a blessing to hear those stories from Steve Brooks, Greg Elder, Harry Booth, Michael Cromwell and Dan DeYoung. Praise to the glorious one. Dan De Young closed the meeting in prayer.
