2 Last month, I wrote about change and how difficult it is for most people. However, there is a small group of people for whom change never happens quickly enough. I m firmly in that group. I imagine there is a handful of folks reading this that is with me in that camp. We chomp at the bit and pull at the reins and we fret that we can t get done all that needs to be done as soon as we d like. Therefore, I have to practice patience, and that s not easy. There are a thousand and one areas of our ministry at First Sulphur that I would like to change: a tweak here, an overhaul there, and everything in between. However, the reality of last month s letter still stands: change occurs slowly and with great difficulty. Therefore, I have to practice patience. Change MUST occur, but it isn t necessary that it occur on my timeline. God s in charge of the timing. I m comforted, and stilled, by a number of places in scripture: The message on Sunday morning, February 26, from John 15:1-4 tells of God as the vineyard keeper that prunes the branches. The pruning process may take 2-3 seasons to yield the desired result. Often times, there is little more than the vine itself (Jesus) left, yet, in due time, the branches are thick with fruit. It took Joseph about 20 years (*gasp*) to work his way up the Egyptian ladder, from slave to Prime Minister. Abraham waited 25 years (*double gasp*) for the promised son. The promise of plans to prosper in Jeremiah 29:11, as we saw Sunday night, February 26, didn t see their fulfillment for another 70 years (*triple gasp*), but the promise to give hope and a future were to be realized immediately, even in the presence of difficulty, trial, uncertainty, and waiting. Obedience in the waiting is our responsibility (Jeremiah 29:10-14). I don t like to wait, but God works in His time. He has a plan (Jeremiah 29:11) and a mission (Matthew 28:19-20). There is also plenty to do while we wait. There is no season for the gospel harvest. Luke 10:2 tells us that the fields are currently white with harvest. While we wait for the other details and plans, we have our mission: go into the world and make disciples. Folks, let s be about the mission while we wait for the plans. Michael 2 - FBCS - The Vision

7 Music Ministry Our Worship Choir has begun working on Easter music for April. They will sing on evenings of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday in special services to remember those events leading up to the crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord. Please come help the choir out as we begin rehearsing on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm The Agin Cajuns are our Sr. Adult Choir. This is a choir for those 50 and above. We meet on Monday morning, 10:00am. They are such a fun group who just loves to sing. We go on road trips, tours, and sing anywhere someone would like us to share. We will be singing for Houston River Baptist Church in May. Please come pass a good time with us. HANDBELLS, ANYONE?
