4 Easter Services and Activities Page 4 Easter Sermon Series What Are We Boasting About? What do we have to boast about? Boast is defined: to talk with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about one's achievements, possessions, or abilities. We all have things in life we could boast about, hobbies, family, careers, and much more. Things that are great accomplishments and things we are proud of. But in reality, we have something far more important that we should be boasting about, and that is what Jesus and the empty cross means to us as a Christian. I invite you to come, and I encourage you to invite others to come, and join us this Easter season as I share a message series, What Are We Boasting About. My prayer is that you are boasting to others (in a good way) what Jesus has done for you! Thanks Again - George Barrick We would like to thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to use your All Purpose Building to unload 1220 cases of Girl Scout Cookies. It means so much to us. Thanks again. Brenda Shughart (Community Cookie Liason) Pastor Good, Please let the congregation of Newville First Church of God know of our gratitude for the use of your sanctuary and fellowship hall for Brandi s Memorial Service. Brandi and Matt were married there in May of 2007 and it meant so much to all of us that we were able to use the church for this final service. All of the members were so kind to her over the years and kept her in their prayers, thoughts, and minds. We know that she is now in God s hands and with no pain or sorrow. God bless your church in all that you do. With grateful appreciation, Rand and Sally Kann Prayer Blankets c/o Pat Shughart, Thank you so much for the prayer blanket. And remember...come Spring we'll probably be needing help with planting too! Contact Abby Long, Administrative Assistant Scotland Campus at with questions or for donation instructions.

10 Prayer Calendar Page Pray for those who have been taken into slavery and prostitution around the world. Apparently, the problem is much larger than we realize. Pray for the people who are enslaved as well as that the offenders will get their eyes opened and stop the evil they are doing. 2. Praise God for the trustees and others who do the work to keep this church running smoothly. They have spent many extra hours this winter to clear the parking lots in the early morning or late evening hours, for no glory of their own, but to serve God. 3. Pray for our troops and their families, especially if they are separated. Pray for safety for each one, physically and mentally and that they will soon be safely reunited. 4. Praise God for The Gathering and what those involved are doing as an outreach to local young people who have not had the chance to come to know Jesus, as their Lord. Pray for their continued creativity of the leaders and open hearts of the participants, so many will recognize the need for Jesus in their life. 5. Praise God for the Karate class and it's outreach to another specific group of people. It not only teaches the students self discipline and self defense, but a devotion to witness to them, as well. 6. Pray for the First Responders (police, fire fighters, EMTs, etc.) those who put their lives on the line for others. Pray for their physical safety as well as the ability to process all of the situations they deal with as they respond. 7. Tonight is when we turn our clocks ahead one hour. We lose an hour of sleep but praise God, we are closer to Spring. 8. Praise God for those who are showing their witness for Christ by being baptized today. May we all try to put those actions to our faith. 9. Pray for our council as they meet tonight. They truly do try to make our church the best outreach to the community that it can be. Praise God for their devotion to the job. 10. Praise God for each of the females of our church. We need to pray for each other and lift all the others up to stay strong, living for Jesus. 11. Pray for all marriages, especially those in our church. Pray that each spouse will give at least 100% and not give up easily, but will strive hard to make it all work and live up to the promises they made to God and each other. 12. Pray for Pastor Wayne and Elaine and all the other leaders in our congregation. The devil often attacks when people are responding positively. Pray for protection and strength for them to keep on leading us in God's will. 13. Praise God for organ donors and their families. It is one of the most unselfish things anyone can do. But please pray for the loss these people face in giving the gift of life to the recipients. Pray that the transplants will be successful with no rejections. 14. Pray for the Bible Quizzers and their leaders. May they do the very best they can, and always remember the verses they have learned and keep them deep in their hearts. Words to live by. 15. Today is Blanket Sunday. It is difficult for us to imagine having nothing to keep us warm. A blanket can do that and so much more. This is a good chance to make a difference to someone we never meet here. But think what a statement that would make to the receiver, that someone would care about them enough to send them a blessing. 16. Pray for all the missionaries around the world as well as those who will be going on short term mission trips. Pray for the safety, courage and wisdom of each one, that they will be completely surrounded by angels, and the hearers will have open hearts and a hunger to learn more about Jesus. 17. It's Saint Patrick's Day. The challenge is that you would praise God for some blessing every time you see something green today. 18. Pray for each male of our church family today, that each one will become so deeply involved with Christ in their heart that He spills out and spreads to everyone around them. 19. Pray for those who have projects ahead of them that seem overwhelming, that they will get through each minute until it is accomplished. 20. Hallelujah! Spring is here. We may still have some cold days, but warmer weather is coming soon. Praise God for the flowers and buds that are getting ready to bloom, and say a little prayer for those with allergies. 21. Pray for the Youth retreat, that lives will be changed permanently for Jesus and bonds of friendship will last forever. 22. Praise God for your family, whether by blood or by choice, each one makes your life richer. Don't forget to pray for the salvation of each one. 23. Pray that those who would be plotting terrorism would be stopped dead in their tracks, that they would be totally unsuccessful and will have their lives turned upside down to the point they will get to know Jesus. 24. Pray for those who want children desperately and have not received that blessing yet, that the holes in their hearts will be filled and God will send them the fulfillment they need and wish for, answered prayers. 25. Pray for those who deal with chronic diseases that are not visible to others. So many people deal with a struggle that no one else may see. Pray for them to be able to focus on Jesus, even when they are suffering. Yet, if they could have a miracle of healing, what a blessing that would be! 26. Praise God for the glorious colors He is getting ready to explode from the earth. Gorgeous new life will be emerging soon. 27. Pray those who commit domestic violence will be stopped and their lives will be changed drastically. Their victims do not deserve that treatment. Pray the victims will be protected and the bullies will find Jesus, turning into the people they were meant to be. 28. Praise God that His plan of salvation is so simple and free. We make it out to be so much more complicated. Let's take Him at His word. 29. Just as at the original Palm Sunday, let us praise Jesus as He is in our midst. But we need to remember that our actions can reflect the way the crowd turned on Him. Let us remember that when we disobey, it hurts Him all over again. 30. Let's not forget our pets and how much better they make out lives. Praise God for them. And don't forget to pray for those who are lost or those who are mistreated. They matter, too. 31. Pray for those who are traveling. Whether flying, sailing or driving, pray for safety for everyone involved. Travel responsibly.
