CHASE THE LION Kingdom Builders 2018

CHASE THE LION Lion chasers don t run away from what they re afraid of, they run to the roar. - Mark Batterson When the image of a man-eating beast travels through the optic nerve and into the visual cortex, the brain sends the body a simple but urgent message: run away! That s what normal people do, but not lion chasers. Rather than seeing a five-hundred-pound problem, they see an opportunity for God to show up and show His power. Based on the book by Mark Batterson, Chase the Lion, Kingdom Builders is about a radically different approach to life. It s about seizing opportunities to step out in faith, support our missionaries, partner with our local and global church community and teach our future generation of leaders! This is a wake-up call to stop living as if the purpose of life was to simply arrive safely at death. OUR DREAMS SHOULD SCARE US! They should be so big that without God they would be impossible to achieve. Quit running away from what you re afraid of. Chase the lion! Change the world!

As we have been praying and seeking the face of God, we believe He is calling us to dream scary, God-sized dreams. We believe that we GET TO sacrifice all else to build God s kingdom. This kingdom is built at New Life Church through missionary support, church planting, next generation leadership, pastoral training and positioning our campuses for growth and outreach. In 2018, we believe God is calling us as Kingdom Builders to raise $1.5 million above our tithes for missions! You will read about some of the missionaries we support around the world and how God is impacting lives through them. You will hear about the God-sized dreams of missions organizations who are reaching the unreached, homeless, trafficked and displaced. God wants you to be a part of building His kingdom! We see in scripture that Jesus gave up everything to help people find life transformation. As Kingdom Builders, we believe our resources and influence can be leveraged to help more people be filled up with New Life in Jesus. Will you partner with us to pray God-sized prayers and dream God-sized dreams? Let s Chase The Lion! Doug & Crystal Heisel Founding Pastors

Open Arms Daniel and Heidi Elizarraraz Open Arms recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary in La Mision where 75 children are off the streets. They are in a safe place during the day learning about the love of Jesus and no longer at risk of being picked up by the Mexican government and taken to orphanages. This October, we received an award by the Mexican Government for being the best childcare provider in all of Baja! In March 2017, we launched a church plant in Camalu and recently had our biggest service yet 276 people! Too many to count have given their lives to Christ, and the church is growing every Sunday. God is moving! Thank you NLC for your love, prayer and continual support. We couldn t do all we do without you! NLC will continue to provide leadership oversight and financial support to Open Arms.

Convoy of Hope $75,000 As a faith-based, non-profit organization, Convoy of Hope has helped more than 80 million people in 114 countries by sharing food, water, emergency supplies, agricultural know-how, and opportunities that empower people to live independent lives, free from poverty, disease and hunger. Convoy of Hope does this through mobilizing tens of thousands of volunteers each year and partnering with churches, businesses, individuals and other humanitarian organizations who are intent on doing good work among the impoverished and suffering. Since it began, Convoy of Hope has served over 80 million people, provided more than 220 million meals, mobilized 538,837 volunteers to help families and survivors of disasters and distributed over $718 million worth of food.

Project Rescue $75,000 Project Rescue exists to rescue and restore victims of sexual slavery through the love and power of Jesus Christ. Last year, Project Rescue ministered to over 40,000 women and children through holistic multifaceted programs, that aim to provide a safe environment for transformation and growth. Every day lives are restored and destinies are changed through prevention, after school programs, night care shelters, HIV/AIDS medical clinics, Red Light District churches and sunday schools, vocational training and more. In the midst of darkness, God s light shines so bright! Please pray for Project Rescue as they reach out with the love of Jesus.

One Hope $55,000 One Hope s goal is to reach every child in every nation with the Gospel. While they reach 194 children every minute, translate material in 140 languages, are active in 120 countries and broadcast their story of hope on 315 programs, they are looking ahead to the hundreds of millions of children and young people worldwide yet to be reached. In fact, their goal in 2018 is to reach 102 million additional kids with the Gospel through partnerships with churches, non-profits, schools and governments around the world.

Hope Academy $50,000 Anand and Rosie Thandu left solid careers and the American dream to uplift orphaned children in India. Though they started with 5 children, they now have 120, and their work involves much more than food and shelter. When local schools failed them, they launched a small orphanage and school of their own. Because of the school s succes, their vision of expansion has grown to include the Hope Academy. It will empower boys and girls from all social castes to live lives of purpose, service, leadership and achievement. Their mission is to bring a world-class education and a transformational environment to ultra-poor children in rural India.

NIHARIKA From Rejected Slum Girl to Public Speaker For Female Education Niharika was born in the slums of Visakhapatnam, India, where girls are easily prone to emotional and physical abuse. Due to her father abandoning her and her family at an early age and her mother s multiple suicide attempts Niharika was very depressed and had absolutely no selfconfidence. The premature graying of her hair added to her low self-esteem. She did not feel pretty or of any worth to anyone. She was scared to live and believed that her bleak existence was her fate. She had no dreams for the future and lived a life of fear. Things started changing when she discovered the unconditional love of Jesus Christ and the peace and hope He gives. She gained a sense of belonging within a loving orphanage family, and when exposed to Hope Academy s high-quality education she quickly realized her hidden potential. Niharika is now pursuing her Engineering degree and is the first girl from her community to do so. She has developed strong leadership qualities and helps girls around her by teaching them to believe in themselves and showing them that God s love and an education can transform anyone. She has also given speeches at public events on the importance of women s education. Niharika also dreams of having an Indian arranged marriage with a well-educated boy whom God has created for her. This would have been unthinkable prior to her education; Niharika lives in a culture where her family s capacity to give a dowry (bride price) determines whom she can marry. Only education overrides this cultural norm. When a girl has a good education and the confidence that comes with it, she is highly desired for marriage. Niharika experienced first-hand how being adopted into a healthy orphanage family, being adopted by a faithful heavenly father and relentlessly pursuing a high-quality education at Hope Academy can totally transform a life!

Kenya Church Plant $75,000 Over the past 3 years, Pastor Doug and Brent Hansen have been in talks about Chasing Lion-sized goals in Kenya. Those conversations developed into a partnership to help launch the first Journey Church in Nairobi. On Oct 8, 2017, that dream became a reality. Kabucho aka Bucho had to say: It was a beautiful and joyous day for the service launch. The serve teams came out early and had some time of prayer and devotion as well as a briefing on how the day would unfold. The place was colorful and beautiful. People started streaming in at around 10am and eventually we had a total of 263! It was truly great to be joined by Doug and Crystal Heisel of New Life Church, their children as well as their friends Harley and Kay Allen from Destiny s church, both in California. Property, to build a permanent church site, has already been donated, and building has begun. NLC desires to supply all the chairs, media tools, and classroom equipment, to enable the church to fully function, once the building is completed, early 2018.

Live Dead Project $10,000 Live Dead is a grassroots, missionary, church planting movement within the Assemblies of God World Missions. Their missionaries have been called to the unreached nations of our world. These are some of the most hostile areas when it comes to the Gospel. These countries and people have no desire to change from their religion to Christianity, yet Live Dead missionaries work very hard to build relationships and to integrate their lives and families into the culture. Our support will go to helping fund Live Dead training facilities. We will help equip church planters to take the Gospel to Muslim countries.

REGIONAL MISSIONARIES NEW CHURCH PLANT PARTNERSHIPS Glen & Paula Davis Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship Stanford University Church planting is one of the most effective evangelism tools there is. NLC is committed to partnering with 5 church planters in 2018, and to assist them with their funding and their planning. 14 Canvas Church Travis & Jena Clark Travis and Jena Clark have been serving in the local church since Prior to founding Canvas SF, they served as Young Adult Pastors. In 2013, they moved to San Francisco to launch a church that would look more like a family than an institution. Their desire is to serve in a church community that embodies the Gospel in San Francisco. NLC will continue to provide leadership oversight to the Clarks and monthly financial support to Canvas.

City Impact $20,000 One early morning in 1984 after getting off the graveyard shift, Roger Huang was waiting for a tow truck in the Tenderloin. He noticed a young boy being picked on by a group of bullies. Torn between intervening to help the boy and not wanting to get involved, he drove away with a heavy heart. On the way home God laid the burden on his heart, What if that was your son being picked on? The next morning Roger and his wife, Maite, made 50 sandwiches, and Roger went back to the Tenderloin to give them away to the homeless. The following week he brought Maite to the Tenderloin to help with the ministry, and San Francisco City Impact was born. Today, the ministry has grown to five major departments with 16 weekly programs. Everything they do is to intervene on behalf of the people in the inner city of San Francisco.

Oakland Teen Challenge $15,000 Teen Challenge facilitates the life-transforming power that can only be found through a healthy relationship with God. This Oakland center houses 40 men and has been in operation since 1967 serving the entire Bay Area. They offer a faith-based curriculum coupled with life applicable lessons, training, counseling, vocational training in addition to self-discipline and structure where it is desperately needed.

NEW LIFE LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE Local New Life Leadership Institute is a fulltime internship program for young adults through New Life Church. Whether for the marketplace or ministry, New Life Leadership Institute is committed to launching the next generation of leaders into society. In partnership with Northwest University, students will have the opportunity to receive an accredited college education (AA or BA degree). Students will also get the opportunity to serve in local outreach and missions projects throughout the year. $10,000 LOCAL MINISTRIES City Serve Easter Outreach Serve Our City Kingdom Builders

Chase The Lion BE A KINGDOM BUILDER Reading about these people and projects gets me so excited about all the lives that will be impacted by our church s generosity. There are no words that can explain the joy that I feel when we partner with a new missionary or organization. Every one of them is Chasing The Lion so they can build God s kingdom. They are dreaming dreams that they know only God can make a reality. I am excited that every New Life Church member has the opportunity to partner with these missionaries and organizations. New Life Church $500,000 (future locations) HOW WILL THESE PROJECTS GET FUNDED? These projects only get funded by the over-and-above giving and commitment to Kingdom Builders When each of us steps out in faith, and does our part stretching our generosity, we become partners together to see God s marvelous Kingdom expand even more. WHAT ABOUT THE TITHE? At New Life we believe that every Christ-follower is called to be generous and tithe (10%) on their full income to their local church. Chase The Lion is above and beyond our tithe, and is generous and sacrificial giving that God lays on our heart to change the world. WHAT IF I HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS? We would love to answer any additional questions you may have. Please chasethelion@newlifeinfo.com. Raymond Hudson Executive Pastor
