2 Volume 40, Issue 11 OUTSTANDING IN OUR FIELD!! Page 3 Most days I go for a walk as part of an attempt to become a healthier person. I have some different routes that I take in order to help keep me from suffering from Mundane Disorder. This week, the corn field on our farm finished being harvested. So, I changed my routing plan and walked through the harvested corn field. That way, I could look for deer and bear sign. I could also pick up corn cobs to throw to the cows in the pasture as I walked by them. Walking in harvested fields is somewhat like doing field work when you are driving a tractor. There is time to think about a wide range of ideas and thoughts while in the field. As I was walking, I was looking down and I noticed a countless number of corn kernels that were lying on the ground. There were also ears of corn, some stalks and leaves that hadn t been harvested through the corn chopper. I thought about the countless number of chopper boxes full of harvested corn silage that the tractors had pulled from the field. And yet there was still some corn left in the field. As I was thinking of this, my mind went to the Book of Ruth, which tells us the story of Ruth gleaning fields after the main harvest. I thought, I really could spend a lot of time picking up the remaining cobs; but in comparison to the chopper boxes, it wouldn t amount to much. I thought about how we reap a harvest with the incomes that we receive from the work we do. Many of us aren t dependent on crops in the field these days, but from the businesses and people who employ us. I thought about how much we harvest for ourselves. How much of our harvest is used on things above and beyond what we need. We use our harvest on our big boy toys, extra vehicles, homes, trips and, I guess, you could name countless other things. I wondered how God looks at how we use our harvest. Does He see us only allowing Him to glean from our fields, or are we including Him in our harvest? November is a special month for us. We celebrate Thanksgiving and the harvest. As a church, we also celebrate the harvest by giving extra funds to Pay Down our Mortgage. Let us continue as a church to celebrate the harvest and not just the gleaning! Thank you for being harvesters. Even if you aren t a farmer, you can also be outstanding in your field! 4 Volume 40, Issue 11 Children s Ministry Corner Page 5 COVENANT KIDDIES/KIDS is our Sunday morning program for our children ages 4 to 6 th grade during the 10:15am Service. The children sit with their families for the first half of the service, than they are dismissed to go downstairs to study God s Word. Covenant Kiddies (ages 4 to 2 nd grade) are led by Don and Debbie Gustafson with the help of some of our youth. Covenant Kids (grades 3 rd -6 th ) are led by Cathy, Coriella & Amanina Sheetz. During this school year the children will be studying (we are on a 5 year cycle through the Bible) Moses and worshipping God The Birth of Jesus Jesus and how He preached God s Truth to all The Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ The Lord s Prayer CHILDREN S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM WILL BE DECEMBER 17 TH DECK THE HALLS AND TRIM THE TREE DURING THE MORNING SERVICE!!! Purpose is for our children to speak and sing the message of our Savior s birth. Children program rehearsals begin on November 5 th during the 10:15am Service and goes through December 10 th. Please invite family and friends on Sunday, December 17 th to hear our children proclaim the Good News of Jesus for all. PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR CHILDREN, YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIIES!!

5 Page 6 Covenant Express Operation Christmas Child Moose Lake Covenant Church will again be a drop off location for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Be alert for opportunities which will be available for you to get involved in this seasonal activity. Not only will you have the opportunity to fill a shoe box (or boxes) for distribution to children around the world, but we will provide opportunities for you to be involved during the shoebox collection week - Nov 13 to Nov 20. There will soon be a signup sheet for people to help staff the collection point during collection week - hours will vary from day to day so find a time that works for you and help us with this great opportunity to share of our abundance and God's love for us. 6 Volume 40, Issue 11 Women s Ministries M.O.M.S GROUP Please join us for MOMS group. We begin with the study of RUTH. This is a DVD series from RightNow Media with Bianca Juarez Olthoff. God can seem distant when dreams fade, people die, or career fails. It may feel like He slammed the door in your face and walked out for good. No one knows the feeling of abandonment more than Ruth and Naomi. Their story begins with the worst death, famine, and poverty. And God remains silent. But the book of Ruth doesn t end with despair. The story brims with hope because God works on behalf of the two widows in ways they least expect. In this7-part series, Bianca Juarez Olthoff teaches through Ruth to show how God moves behind the scenes in our lives. On the surface, this book tells the story of two widows and a kind landowner. Even more, it teaches us about God s faithfulness, love and providence. Come walk with us on the journey of Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz and discover the devoted love of God and His transformative power in our lives. Page 7 Monday Afternoon Women s Bible Study Every Monday afternoon at 1:30-3:00pm in the East Room Monday, October 30th- November 6 th & November 13 th will be a 3 week Bible Study on the book of Hosea. Hosea is a story of God s love for that will never let us go. There will be no Monday Afternoon Women s Bible Study on November 20th during the Thanksgiving week. All women are invited for study, prayer and fellowship. COVENANT QUILTERS All women are invited to join us at Quilting on Tuesdays from 2:00 8:00 pm (we sometimes quit early!). We meet every week, unless the weather is bad! If you ve ever thought about coming, or would like to learn about quilting, please join us! We have equipment and we will teach you.
