2 C. Glory defined... 5 Summary... 5 Read also:... 6 xxx... 9 Scripture references Eph 5:8 1 Ti 3:16 Introduction For us that have tasted the dark side of the world, the love of God is a concept we cannot but endeavour to understand. We know we are loved, valued, excepted and cared for but the mystery of the reason behind it cannot but make us think of the greatness of the ONE that loves us. We cannot reciprocate and still HE loves us? Starting off on a walk of love let us then keep this love being the loving ones bringing HIS love to those that were like we were once. This manual will look how we can bring God s glory to those that so desperately needs it by looking at: What is meant by the term GLORY in the bible; and then How to make GLORY a reality in our daily lives. Love the Word of God. It is your source of life. A. From darkness to light Eph 5:8 For G1063 ye were G2258 sometimes G4218 darkness, G4655 but G1161 now G3568 are ye light G5457 in G1722 the Lord: G2962 walk G4043 as G5613 children G5043 of light: G5457 From this verse we can determine a change has taken place in our lives; from darkness to light. It further states clearly that this change has to be applied by us (children of God) by walk as children of light. To understand this let us look at the meanings of these different terms: 1) Darkness Those that are in darkness need the LIGHT because they find themselves in: i. Error; or ii. or iii. An adumbration or shadiness which literally means: 1. The act of making a shadow or faint resemblance; 2. A faint sketch; an imperfect representation of a thing; and 3. In heraldry, the shadow only of a figure, outlined, and painted of a color darker than the field. Obscurity Be a glory carrier 2
3 2) Light To be of the light or to bring light it is necessary to be: Luminousness (in the widest application, natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative): - fire, light. To bring God s light into the darkness is to bring His glory as described in the next section. B. Being a glory carrier is to bring God s light 1Ti 3:16 And G2532 without controversy G3672 great G3173 is G2076 the G3588 mystery G3466 of godliness: G2150 God G2316 was manifest G5319 in G1722 the flesh, G4561 justified G1344 in G1722 the Spirit, G4151 seen G3700 of angels, G32 preached G2784 unto G1722 the Gentiles, G1484 believed on G4100 in G1722 the world, G2889 received up G353 into G1722 glory. G1391 From the above scripture we can determine that to bring this mystery of godliness (LIGHT) into the darkness is to manifest God s glory in our flesh by: 1. Justify Him in the Spirit Luk 7:29 And all the people and the tax-collectors who heard Him justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. Job 9:20 If I justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me; though I am perfect, He shall declare me perverse. This is an amazing concept; we are called to justify the justifier of our souls! We can only do this if we are willing through our life style: a. Show that JESUS is right (as self evident); b. Render HIM as (that is, show or regard as) just or innocent: - free, justify (-ier), be righteous; and c. Show that JESUS is holy (absolutely or relatively). When you do the above you will: 2. Show yourself as if you are an messenger To be seen by angels in the context of this verse literally means that you: a. show yourself to the world as right, just and holy; so that b. people can inspect and observe you; that you are a c. messenger. The word angel in this verse also means Pastor. None of us are angels and not all of us are Pastors, but all of us are called to be messengers of the Most High God, Jesus Christ. When you have accepted your calling as a messenger you will: 3. Preach God unto the Gentiles To preach the gospel to the gentiles has its own mystery as revealed in the following verses: Be a glory carrier 3
4 Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without preaching? Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things!" Considering the above verses and looking at what is said in 1 Ti 3:16 we can determine that to be able to preach to the Gentiles means to: a. First become part of those (a race) of the same habit or tribe; to b. Secondly be enabled to be of usage: - be custom (manner, wont); so that c. Thirdly you can be used by habit or conventionality; with the focus to d. Fourthly herald (as a public crier), especially the divine truth (the gospel): - preach (-er), proclaim, publish. Preaching God to the gentiles set us up for the next mystery, the outworking of FAITH. Now faith is to 4. Believe God To believe literally means to: i. Have faith in Jesus; and therefore ii. to entrust (reflexively or passively to assent (to evidence or authority) yourself to Him; because of: a. A moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), and or b. You have been convinced by argument, true or false. Because you have entrusted yourself to Him you will: iii. iv. Tend, that is, take care of to properly to provide for; to make An orderly arrangement, literally or figuratively [morally]): - adorning (To display the beauty or excellence of) and exactly. When you have done the above give yourself wholly to: 5. Accept His glory To be able to accept His glory literally means to: i. First get hold of glory by doing steps 1 4 above and then to a. Call out for His glory. We will call for glory because we b. Know it is offered to one; ii. Secondly be amazed with it. If you are amazed by it you will iii. Take it away or up (From a lower to a higher place) by a. thinking about it (with thanks giving, honour, praise and worship); b. be accounted and to be of reputation; and c. (of own) please (-ure). Be a glory carrier 4
5 C. Glory defined Here are some facts about God s glory: 1. The glory comes severally (separately; distinctly; apart from others) by, each, every (man); and 2. With repetition and intensity, Defining glory from the Webster dictionary: 3. Praise ascribed in adoration; 4. Honour. Honourable representation of God; 5. In scripture, the divine presence; or the ark, the manifestation of it: The divine perfections or excellence; and 6. Distinguished honour or ornament; that which honour s or makes renowned; that of which one may boast. According to the Webster s definition of glory we can see that the glory talked about, is all about giving glory to God (Mat 6:13). Looking at the definition of glory in Mat 6:13 we can see how the above is applied to give glory to God by: 7. being of reputation (making God renowned walking in His divine presence); by implication to seem (truthfully or uncertainly): - be accounted; By doing this we will give 8. honour; praise and worship to God and by so doing, giving 9. glory (as very apparent) to Him. Summary What it entails to be a GLORY carrier can be summarised by the following diagram: Be a glory carrier 5
