ARCHDEACONRY WOMEN S DAY CELEBRATION/REVIVAL Date - 16th June, (Revival Day) 17th June, 2017 (Thanksgiving/Praise Day) Venue - St. Peter s Church Auditorium Host - St. Peter s Church (Faji) Lagos. SPIRITUAL VITAMIN FOR THE MONTH: Then the word of the LORD came to Zechariah saying...thus says the LORD of hosts: Execute true justice show mercy and compassion, everyone to his brother Zech. 7:8-9 YEAR 2017 THEME: THE FAITHFUL GOD DEUT. 7:9 God's choosing of Israel was motivated by His love for them (Deut, 7:7-8). Moreover, God promised to faithfully keep His covenant and show mercy to generation after generation of them that love him and keep his commandments (cf 6:4-9). Not only was God's love contingent upon this response of love and obedience, but also their prosperity (v13-14), good health, (v15), and military success (v 16). God promises to keep His commitments to His people for a thousand generations (Deut 7:9). He reminds them that He didn't free them because they deserved it or because they were the largest nation on earth, but because He loved them. Many people are facing hardships. You may be one of them. In fact, may be life itself has been nothing but one, long grueling hardship for you for as long as you can remember. I pray that something in this writing, and indeed, in the course of discussing the theme of the year, might bring some comfort for you. There is little else in life that hurts as deeply as feeling as though God is not faithful. Let's address the very MOST important issue regarding God's faithfulness. The Hebrew word translated faithfulness means Steadfastness, firmness, fidelity. The opposite of being faithful is to be ever. Changing or wishy-washy. Faithfulness is an attribute of God. He is the definition of faithfulness in a sense. It is the nature of God to be faithful and He is. Faithfulness is therefore a characteristic of the body of Christ and one that all Christians should have and practice. Why should Christians or anyone for that matter, obey God? Why should we trust God and do what He says? The answer to these and similar questions is simply that God is faithful. Because God is faithful, we van trust Him and therefore obey Him. We are confident in the times of trouble because we known that God is faithful. The promises of God are real and his faithfulness will never fail us. We have nothing to fear as believers because the power of God is always with us. Yet those words may ring hollow when you are in a crisis situation. You may be dealing with a serious illness for which there is no cure. You may be struggling with financial difficulties and don't know where to turn. You may be suffering the pain of a broken marriage or relationship and have lost all hope for the future. Whatever the struggle, it can be hard to stand in your faith when your circumstance seems hopeless. We read in proverbs 24:10, if you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength; The truth is that those who believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ have limitless power to defect anything that comes against them. In I John 5:4, we are told that everyone born of God overcomes the world. The forces of evil cannot conquer a child of God. The devil himself knows that he is unable to harm a hair on your head, but only what God permits. And God will only allow that struggle or pain for which He has prepared in advance to bring you through to victory. Each trial we endure is permitted to help us to develop the perseverance that we need to stay strong in this life so that our faith may be proved genuine. Christ did not suffer and die to lose the battle. His death paid the price for our victory and it cannot be taken from us. It does not matter what trouble you may be experiencing, God is willing and able to bring you through it. He alone can turn a painful situation into something that will be used for good with a reward that will last forever. Here then, is the crux of the whole matter; What God is looking for are people who will be faithful to HIM! especially in the midst of their trials, like Job was. God may allow you to stay in the painful place you are in emotionally (and may be physically) until you determine within yourself to declare that God is faithful to me, and that's the beginning and the ending of the matter! GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS 1. Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father; there is no shadow of turning with thee; thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not; as thou hast been thou forever will be. Refrain: Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided; great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! 2. Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, sun, moon and stars in their courses above join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. 3. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide; strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

5 BIBLE STUDY 9.00 A.M A.M PENTECOST SUNDAY 4 TH JUNE, 2017 Theme: Divine Means Of Healing Topic: Requisite Actions Text: II Chron. 7:12, 14; Ezek 22:23, 30. Aim: i) Recognise the power of appropriate Christian actions; and ii) Seek to execute actions that will release divine favours and help in our ugly situations Introduction In the previous study, we saw the power of men having theright requirements to receive God s solutions, how much we already possess; we still need requisite faith to bring God s power down as our situations. In today s study, we will consider human actions like agonizing intercession, repentance, restitution. II Chronicles 7:14 refers to these as most needful requirements for a nation to be healed. We must respond to this scripture at both personal and corporate levels. This means that individual Christians who grasp the message should not wait for others; their solo efforts can motivate many others. God is looking out to see what you will do after this study. Study Guide 1. Highlight and discuss from II Chron. 7:12-14 and Ezek. 22:23-30 (i) The Challenge (ii) The Condemnation (iii) The Cure Envisaged (iv) The change expected, in the healing of a land 2. Compare the situations with our, state what Christians should do to salvage Nigeria (i) Individually (ii) As Church (iii) As Denominations (iv) As a Nation? Ezek. 22:30; Joel 1:14; 2:15-18; Matt. 18: How much impact have these action shad in turing away God s wrath: i) Repentance by Christians, Jonah 3:5, 10; ii) Restitution by Christians, Luke 19:8, 9; iii) Renunciation of evil, Eph. 5:11? Conclusion Men and nations require faith s works done in humility and true holiness. These invariably turn away God s wrath and bring His favour. Truly, nothing is too hard for God; nor are His hands short or His ears dull of hearing. A key ingredient of the actions of men that produce positive results is renunciation of evil. Food For Thought When a Nation does what God requires, God brings divine healing to her land. Memory Verse - Joel 2:16, 17. The occurrence was not something that was done in secret but was announced with signs and wonders and with the salvation of 3000 souls. Our God is a great planner and projector. He chose to send the Holy Spirit when people from all over the Roman Empire and beyond came to Jerusalem for the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks and the Festival of Tabernacles. The promised gifts of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost took place during the Festival of Weeks or the Feast of Harvest. This was another time when all the men of Israel and converts appeared before the Lord at Jerusalem. God called all of the Jewish men together in order to make announcement by the Holy Spirit through the apostles. This was very important for God needed witnesses of the Holy Spirit. These two festivals provided just such a group of witness from vast areas of the Roman Empire. When the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles and the other believers on the Day of Pentecost, those who heard them speaking in tongues were perplexed and asked, What does this mean? Acts 2:12. In the same manner the question remained in our day. A great aggregate claimed that the meaning of Pentecost is that we should have the same experience as the disciples, that is, we are to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2 explained in light of Acts 1:4-8, where the risen Lord Jesus instructed the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ explained that they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now (Acts 1:5) and they would receive power to be witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth (Acts 1:8). Just as the ministry of Jesus depended on the Holy Spirit descending on Him at His baptism, so the ministry of the disciples depended on them receiving the Holy Spirit and relying on His power. Thus Acts 2 was a special historical event, signifying a new period in God s dealings with His people. Pentecost signals the dawning of the age of the Holy Spirit. And the fullness of the Spirit in God s people to empowered them for witness to all the nations. In a way, Pentecost is God s equipping His church with the power of His Spirit so that He will be glorified among the nations. Pentecost is mission, and the goal of mission is that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea (Hab. 2:14).

9 God s plan for being glorified among the nations was to form the church on the day of Pentecost. You would recall in Matt. 16:18, the Lord told Peter that He would build His church on this rock and the gates of hell would not prevail against it. Thus the church, founded on the apostolic confession and witness of Christ, is God s means of taking the gospel to the nations, resulting in His being glorified in all the earth. We need to remember that our purpose as the Lord s church is not to focus on ourselves and our own happiness. Our purpose is to spread the knowledge of God to all the nations, beginning here in our own Jerusalem. If we lose our outward focus, with the overall purpose of God s glory, we have lost our reason for existence. The scope of God s plan is all the nations. God s plan is no longer to be bottled up with the Jews. His good news is for all the nations. As John, proclaimed in Rev. 5:9, Jesus purchased for God with His blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. We cannot rest until all the nations have heard the good news about Christ. But how can we possibly fulfill God s plan? The necessary power for fulfilling God s plan is His Holy Spirit. Before the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit regenerated men and empowered them for serving God. But He did not permanently indwell all believers (Ps. 51:11; Luke 11:13). In the Upper Room, Jesus had told the disciples that He would send the Holy Spirit to be with them forever. He added, You know Him because He abides with you and will be in you (John 14:16-17). Thus on the Day of Pentecost, the disciples were baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5), in fulfillment of Jesus promise. We are, however, commanded to be filled with the Spirit, which means to be controlled by the Spirit (Eph. 5:18). The disciples on the Day of Pentecost were not only baptized with the Spirit. Also they all were filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4). While the baptism of the Spirit is a onetime event, being filled with the Spirit happens repeatedly (Acts 4:8, 31; 6:5; 7:55; 9:17; 13:9). To be filled with the Spirit, we must empty ourselves by confessing all known sin and by dying to self. We must yield ourselves fully to the Lord and depend on Him step by step ( walking in the Spirit, Gal. 5:16). Being filled with the Spirit is also called letting the word of Christ richly dwell in you (Col. 3:16. Thus the filling of the Spirit cannot be divorced from God s Word being at home in your heart. The results of a consistent daily walk in the Spirit will be the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) manifested in our lives and relationships. Social Welfare Service Ministry. A. Our Programmes 1.
