1 The Word Newsletter MIAMI BEACH COMMUNITY CHURCH MAY 2018 ISSUE 4 VOL. 1
2 Greetings Members and Friends of MBCC A Time of Reflection Greetings MBCC Members and Friends, During my daily devotional readings I came across these wonderful words of wisdom by Dr. Maya Angelou which simply says Just do right The truth is: right may not be expedient, it may not be profitable but it will satisfy your soul. No truer words have ever been spoken. Throughout my life I have learned God has given each of us the ability to make good choices. This is not always easy because there are so many other things that can cloud our way of thinking. As Christians we are taught to love one another even in a world filled with so much division and strife. We have been given an opportunity to help make a difference in someone s life and oftentimes we let that opportunity pass us by. Through God s Word we see a beautiful example of compassion in the story of the Woman at the Well. When Jesus asked her to give him a drink of water she immediately said Jews do not associate with Samaritans. But what she didn t realize is that he wasn t interested in the religious enmity between the two of them he was more concerned about her soul. Sometimes we go through life searching for something to quench our thirst when all we need is a touch from the Master. Apart from Christ we can t do the right thing. Because truth be told, we all fall short of God s Glory. Doing right helps us to have peace within our spirit and helps us to live our best life. So on this Mother s Day be sure to do the right thing and let that special person in your life know how much she is loved and appreciated for all of her sacrifices. Many blessings, Pastor Cynthia Lee THE WORD THE MIAMI BEACH COMMUNITY CHURCH NEWSLETTER
3 WORSHIP WITH US SERVICES 10:30 a.m. Sunday Morning Worship "Temporarily" in Hice Hall Usually we gather in our beautiful historic sanctuary to worship. However, due to the renovation of our historic sanctuary we are currently holding Sunday morning services in Hice Hall. Our progressive ministry of inclusiveness and compassion, commitment to faithfulness, service to the community and life-long spiritual development is what you spiritually crave. Each week is a little different; and the inspiring messages challenge us to be genuine as our spirit and mind are renewed. 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday Prayer and Mediation in King Chapel The King Chapel is open for you!!! Please feel free to come in to pray, meditate, or just spend quiet time with God. 9:30 a.m. King Chapel Sunday School (Adult) A more structured way of teaching God's Word. In this small group setting warmth and love flows. The topics are non-threatening, and class members fellowship through informal conversations. 10:45 a.m. Sunday School (Youth) 2nd floor RM#203 A place for youth to come enjoy a church based curriculum in a relaxed setting. Offering an inter-generational atmosphere to create through music, art, and dance. The leadership team with the parents help practice spiritual disciplines with the youth. This exciting environment provides youth with a variety of spiritual practices to take home with them. 6-8 p.m.wednesday & Thursday Disciples Group Green Library If you want to be a part of something that will challenge you more on your walk with God then feel free to join the Discipleship Group on Wednesday or Thursday night. This class teaches and discusses biblical precepts, while modeling and guiding you to an exciting outlook of working in and outside the church as you learn to create a sense of purpose and direction.
