4 Mark Your Calendars All-Church Worship Service, August 5, 11 a.m. A Farewell to Pastor Hovik Sarrafian, with Guest Speaker, Pastor Velino Salazar Pastor Sarrafian has shepherded the Glendale City Armenian Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 25 years. On this morning we will recognize Pastor Sarrafian as a minister who has given many years of time and talent to his congregation, who has been a blessing to us all. Our Southern California Conference President will deliver the sermon to help us honor and bless Pastor Sarrafian. Worship Service today, 11 a.m. Guest Speaker: Christopher Lewis We warmly welcome our guest speaker today, Chris Lewis, brother of Drew Lewis (Clarissa's fiancé). Those who wish to make a donation to his work may do so at the doors after today's service. Please write any checks to: "Latino M.E.", with "For Chris Lewis" in the memo. Chris Lewis is a missionary and church planter. Originally from California, he has lived in Scotland, Mexico, Peru and Croatia, and now lives in Germany. He has planted several churches and most recently worked with refugees in Croatia where refugees from several different countries came to Christ and are now worshipping together in the church in the city of Zagreb. His wife, Karen, is from Scotland, and they have been serving the Lord together since they were married in They are now living in Saarbrücken, Germany, where they plan to reach out both to refugees and locals with the love of Jesus Christ. Campmeeting Worship: On August 26 we will honor our Adventist roots with an old-fashion styled worship service. Dress cool and comfortable, and be prepared to sing! Housewarming Party for New Armenian Pastor. Our new Armenian Pastor Vigen Khachatryan and family arrive August 1, and will be residing in Burbank. They are coming directly from Armenia and have limited household resources. If you have spare household items like kitchen appliances or furniture, please contact Pastor Todd. Pastor Hamilton also explores controversial topics such as why God seems so violent in the Old Testament, why Paul commands women to keep silent in church, as well as questions of science and creation, salvation for non-christians, etc. This is a book all thinking Christians should take time to read!
