15 YOUTH WORKSHOPS (K-5) StarLab: Planetarium Discovery Participants will experience the wonders of the galaxy while learning about the constellations, solar system and transitions of the sun and moon throughout the year. The sessions will allow for the participants to enter a planetarium and discover the galaxy indoors. YOUTH WORKSHOPS (6TH-12TH GRADE) DISCOVERERS Pour Out: Girl Power Chat Need advice? Participants in the Pour Out session will have a chance to discuss a wide range of real and relevant topics that designed to enable high school and college -aged young ladies to unveil the power within. Sister Brianna Sullivan Sharpe and Minister Christian Brown Boys2MEN: Boy Power Chat Participants in the Boys2Men session will have a chance to discuss a wide range of real and relevant topics affecting their development and growth into the men God has called them to be. Minister Elijah McDavid Bad and Boujee: Self Love and the Confidence to Show It (Part 1 and 2) Self Love is one of the most important forms of love. In this sessions, participants will learn how to better show love to themselves and develop the confidence to show it. Minister Kaiya Jennings #WWJP: What Would Jesus Post Discover how social media can be used as a tool to spread the word of God and strengthen our signal with those around us. Minister Darien Jones Who Am I?: Discovering Your Identity In Christ (for Middle School) The world will try to label you with identities that seek to destroy your confidence and tear down your self-esteem. In this session, participants will learn about their identities as children of God and be empowered to live their identities as God intended. 16 Where Am I Going? Developing a Plan for Survival after High School (for High School) Life after high school brings new challenges, obstacles, and experiences. Needless to say, navigating these experiences will come with difficulty. In this session, participants will learn about practical and biblical principles that will help high school The Reverend Brian Cash Hello Fear: Embracing Fears. Encountering Futures The Reverend Brian Cash Ignite: How to Win My Friends For Christ Evangelism is needed for every age group. This class will give middle schoolers the tools needed to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with their friends. Minister Chinelo Tyler Lemonade/4:44: Real Talk on Real Relationships: Building healthy relationships is a vital key for success. This class will discuss the importance of relationships and how to build relationships and friendships that will endure the test of time. The Reverend Reginald Sharpe and Sister Brianna Sharpe Sticks and Stones: Defeating Bullying with Kindness: Bullying is a major problem in our schools, churches, and even homes. It is essential that we teach our children that the key to overcoming bullying is kindness. Through Biblical examples, this class will demonstrate how to defeat bullying with acts of kindness and love. Minister Darien Jones YOUNG ADULT WORKSHOPS SOJOURNERS I Speak To God In Public: Developing a Relevant Prayer Life Is praying too difficult? This workshop explores different and relevant ways to build a healthy prayer life with God. 17 Hello Fear: Embracing Fears. Encountering Futures God sometimes places the best things in your life on the other side of fear. This class is designed to help participants embrace and confront their fears so that they can encounter the future that God has in stored for them. The Reverend Brian Cash Church Drop-Out: An Intergenerational Conversation In this session, participants will brainstorm ways the 7th Episcopal District can create more effective, exciting, and encouraging ministry opportunities that will attract and keep young adults active in the local church. Panelist include: The Reverend Jarrett Washington, Minister Kaiya Jennings, The Reverend Dr. Jon R. Black, Dr. Rikesha Fry-Brown God s Masterpiece: Painting Experience (Young Adults)- Tuesday morning Participants will engage in developing an awareness and appreciation of visual arts and create their own masterpiece on canvas. God s Masterpiece: Pottery Tuesday afternoon Participants will engage in developing an awareness and appreciation of visual arts and the element of design by hand. Each participant will create their own masterpiece with clay. CLERGY WORKSHOP ihomiletic: Preaching that Reaches the 21st Century Millennial- Designed to realign Black youth and young adults with the Black Church and Black preaching, the ihomiletic is an intergenerational and interdisciplinary approach to preparing, delivering and receiving feedback for/to one s sermon. In this session, ministers will learn how to integrate the preaching moment with social media linguistics and technology that will engage the entire congregation. The Reverend Dr. Dominique Robinson Perfect Peace: Pastoral Care and Mental Illness Mental Illnesses continues to be a taboo subject for many Black Congregations. 18 Write The Vision: Developing a Strategic Plan for Your Church Congregations suffer without a clear, concise, and conceivable vision. Participants will learn about the importance of casting engaging, inspiring and provocative visions that are designed to move their local church to the next level. The Reverend Henry Green III Men s Bible Study The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing and learning the word of God. These multi-session Bible studies are created specifically for men and the issues they face. The Reverend Henry Green Jr. Women s Bible Study The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing and learning the word of God. These multi-session Bible studies are created specifically for women and the issues they face. The Reverend Dr. Barbara Chisolm Christian Education Certification Classes ADULTS EXPLORERS Teaching for Biblical Faith-- for CE Track Why did you commit to being a Christian educator? How you answer this question determines how much effort you will put behind your teaching ministry. This workshop shop provides all Christian Educators with resources and tools that will help them improve their love of teaching God s word. The Reverend James Wesley Dennis III Outside The Box: Packaging Christian Education for Intergenerational Congregationsfor CE Track Although the gospel of Christ is timeless and consistent, the way we package the gospel messages impacts how people will receive it. Minister Devon Crawford Perfect Peace: Wholeness and Care Mental Illnesses continues to be a taboo subject for many Black Congregations. This session is designed to help Christians identify ways to care for their soul, mind, and body. Minister Christian S. Brown Fearless Faith: Developing Faith for Spiritual Warfare The Bible tells us that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. Spiritual warfare requires the weapons of our faith. This class will help participants discover how to strengthen their faith for the spiritual challenges on their journey. The Reverend Dr. Dominique Robinson Nobody Roots for Goliath One of the difficult challenges of leadership is learning how to balance strengths with weaknesses. Through the story of David and Goliath, this class will explore how David used his perceived weaknesses to defeat the giant in his life. Minister Elijah McDavid The 13th: The Gospel and Mass Incarceration Mass incarceration disproportionately affect communities of color. This class will discuss how the gospel of Jesus addresses the problem of mass incarceration and suggest ways in which Christians can challenge and fix it. The Reverend Stephen Green LAITY A Joyful Noise: Hymn Sing For A New Generation Hymns continue to be a vital part of worship in the church.
