1 Thinking, Learning, and having cheese and crackers with Hem and Haw! Who Moved My Cheese, a short movie! Sunday: April 10 & 24 at 10 a.m. in the Lounge This is a stimulating and fun time to talk about changes in our lives and how we choose to respond faithfully to life around us. Of course there are a multitude of influences that impact us individually, families and even in the church. Yes, we will actually have cheese and crackers and all are welcome all ages!! Finger Lakes District Welcomes New Administrative Assistant Finger Lakes District Superintendent Rev. Jeff McDowell is pleased to announce that Pamela Deckard now serves as the Finger Lake District Administrative Assistant. "Pam brings to this work a high level of competence, commitment, and experience," he said. "As a lifelong United Methodist, she understands well the strength of our connection. Pam's interpersonal skills and pleasant demeanor will help support the work of Christ through the churches of the Finger Lakes." Deckard has an associate's degree in executive secretarial, a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in social work. She previously worked as the district assistant to the Seven Valleys District in the former North Central New York Conference. She lives in Clifton Springs with her husband, the Rev. Steve Deckard, pastor at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church. As United Methodist Christians, we are called to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. As a Conference connecting over 900 local churches, we seek to fulfill this mission by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and being God's love with our neighbors in all places. On our conference website you can connect directly to a local church, find resources for ministry and spiritual development, learn about the mission and ministries of the Upper New York Conference, and much more. The doors, hearts, and minds of our churches are open to all, and I invite you whether you are long time church member or someone seeking a church family to join us for worship. Blessings, Bishop Mark J. Webb

2 UP!WORD for all youth! UP!WORD 16 is April 22-24, The Holiday Inn, Liverpool, NY is the place. Worship opportunities, fantastic workshops, speakers, live bands, time for fun and fellowship and praise of our risen Lord, Jesus Christ are to be expected. Do Something means that you have to take action in doing something, like sharing the word or love of God with the knowledge or skills God has provided for you. This means doing something to be a disciple; do what Jesus would do, show compassion for others, care for everyone and love everyone, even people who don t know God yet. The CCYM Teams are prepared to help us all encounter God and put our theme into practice - Do Something: Disciple s Edition This year s CCYM theme is more than just a basis for our events. It serves as a reminder of who we are; a wake-up call. Youth aren t the only children of God in need of a little reminder. Everyone needs a little push to go out, make a change, Do Something. GET CONNECTED: Internet resources for growing in faith and awareness The Global UMC: The Upper New York Annual Conference: Also see links to Vital Congregations and New Faith Communities The Finger Lakes District: UMC General Conference 2016: Prayer The Upper Room: The Methodist Church in Britain: These sites lead to places where people of faith are following God and making a difference. Save the date: April 17 Mission Corner Is being celebrated Conference-wide as Africa 360 Sunday! Churches across the Conference are being asked to share in a unified prayer that day - UMH #456, For Courage to Do Justice - to help unite us in mind and spirit as the 2016 Annual Conference session approaches.

Many in the congregation are in prayer for our church. Prayer is vital for disciples to receive eyes and ears to see and hear what God is doing today. Let s pray that Christ gives this church the ability to receive the future and the hope. Jesus said, My sheep know my voice. John 10:27 Isaiah 55: 8 New Living Translation "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. Jeremiah 29:11-13 (TLB) For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. You will find me when you seek me, if you look for me in earnest. Jeremiah 29:11 indicates that God has a definite plan to prepare us and give us hope. It takes the people 70 years to get there. We often miss that part when celebrating the verse. At church, there are ways to sign your name and promise to pray and be faithful to the leading of the Lord Jesus Christ. Wednesday Faith Group - Journey to the True Self This group is open to all in our community who want to grow in faith. We use the book Open the Door by Joyce Rupp (ISBN ). Joyce is a beloved author and spiritual guide. Open doors are potent symbols for the Christian faith journey. Class begins with an introductory session followed by 6 weeks of study and discussion. A concluding event celebrates our time together and the discoveries along the way. Each person needs a book.

Heidi From the Education Desk This past month has been one of great fun and discovery among our students of all ages. I have the distinct pleasure of teaching our high school students continuing in our walk through the year with Jesus. We have combined at times with the Mission Possible Kids to fill flood buckets and put out pine cone bird feeders for our hungry winter birds. Pasto Steve and I worked together to bring prayerful and reflective Holy Week services for you as well as Easter SonRise Service. Rev. Andrew VanBuren of St. John s Episcopal, a cohort of mine from seminary school, joined us at SonRisef and our January youth lock-in event. We are happy to have many parishioners involved in these worship services. Thank you for your help! I had the pleasure of being invited by friends at the St. John s Lutheran Church in Pumpkin Hook, to attend the Women of Faith conference in Buffalo. They had an unused ticket and God came a callin! It was such a wonderful experience. It was the Women of Faith s last event, so there were many tears as well as laughs and a charge of the Holy Spirit superseding overall! I was so blessed to be able to attend! This coming month is going to be a very busy one for me. It will be my final month of the seminary school semester (three down, five to go!) I am trying to get a head start on my papers so I am not cramming in the end when they are all due by May 4 th! I am thrilled, and a bit scared, that my hubby Rob and I will be running our FIRST MARATHON on his 40 th birthday, Sunday April 24, in Gettysburg, PA! I have to be honest. Training for a marathon while going to school full time and working part time, plus being a wife and mother, MAY have been a TAD much! I try to multi-task and do a lot of reading while I train! Keep praying

6 that Rob and I keep safe as our mileage gets longer! We run a training race on Saturday April 9 th : the Honeoye Rally Round the Valley, 18 miles around Honeoye Lake! We need extra prayers that day too! After the marathon, I will be back for one day before traveling to Atlanta, GA for the Orange 16 Conference entitled Monday s Coming! It s going to be a huge learning experience for me! I can t wait to learn about their strategies to keeping our Sunday lessons fresh by Monday morning and throughout the week! As well as ways to inspire God s followers of all ages! I leave for Atlanta about 5 PM on Tuesday and flying back early Saturday morning. I want to thank the Ad Board, SPRC and the UMW for their support for this conference. I can t wait to absorb all they have to offer! - Judy ************** April Anniversaries April 4 Brenda and Steve Capozzi 11 Charlie & Jan Hess 23 Clayton and Mary Ruggles April Birthdays TELL OTHERS!
