2 REACH, TEACH, RELEASE NOTES WEEK ONE - Lesson One Reach Men For God Matthew 28:19 (NLT) Therefore, go and make disciples ofall the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Reach Men For God Reach! The word means to stretch. It implies an inconvenience. It involves movement. You can t lean back, relax, get comfortable and then reach. To reach means you must give up some of that comfort at least for the moment. Reaching involves a little extra effort to get to something you want. How much extra energy you are willing to spend depends on how badly you want what you re reaching for. The more it means to you, the farther you are willing to stretch. You might even stretch until it hurts. David Marks Reaching men for God will call you to leave your comfort zone. Reaching the men in your community for God will require you to stretch, to be a little inconvenienced in order to have a greater impact on your community for the Kingdom of God! 3 NOTES It s easy to see a smudge on your neighbor s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, Let me wash your face for when your own face is distorted by contempt? If you and I are going to reach men in our communities for God, we must first make sure that we are living for Him. Matthew 4:18-20 (ESV) 18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew His brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 Immediately they left their nets andfollowed Him. Mark 1:17 (MSG) Jesus said to them, Come with me. I ll make a new kind offisherman out ofyou. I ll show you how to catch men and women instead ofperch and bass When was the last time you shared your faith outside the confines of the Corps? It s this whole traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holierthan-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your face, and you might be lit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor. Mark 1:17 (NLT) Jesus called out to them, Come,follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people! Things to Think About 1. How badly do you want to reach men for God? REACH MEN FOR GOD

4 3. When was the last time you invited another man to join you at the corps for worship? 4. How important is it to be fishers of men with corps life? 6. What does Jesus mean when He says that we should wash each others feet? Through the work of life be lowly, Let inc true andfaithful be; You and I need to be about calling people unto God. We need to become fishers of men. We need to reach men for God ih the communities where 1-le has placed us. This the thought that makes it holy - Christ has set the taskfor me. Jessi P. Are we still relevant within our community? Corps? Men s Ministries? 3. Do we as men serve our corps and community; or the least of these like we should? 4. Ifyou heard of someone who needed a helping hand how would you help them? 25 John 12:25-26 (NIV) Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep itfor eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me mustfollow me; and where my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. lam, 5. If you and I are willing to serve Christ - we also live for Him? John 13:12-17 (NIV) 12 When He hadfinished washing theirfeet, He put on His clothes and returned to His place. Do you understand what I have donefor you? He asked them. 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, lam. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your for that is what feet, you also should wash one another s fret. 151 have set you an example that you should do as I have donefor you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 7Now that you know these things, you will be blessed ifyou do them. Lesson Two - Men About Christ WEEK TWO Matthew 28:19 (MSG) God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet,far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

6 - Mark 10:45 The Son ofman came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His lfe as a ransom for many. Both of these texts put all the emphasis on God s giving to us when we serve. The kind of service that makes God look valuable and thrilling is the kind that serves God by constantly receiving from God. The key text to describe this is 1 Peter 4:11 Whoever serves, [let it be] as one who serves by the strength that God supplies in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. John Piper Mark 10:44-45 (ESV) and whoever would befirst among you must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son ofman came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. We who claim the blood of Jesus have been released to do the same. Not be served, but to serve! I believe we should be about serving the least, the last and the lost. Amen! The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is this: He or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served. Gordon B. Hinckley 3. Is it our responsibility to teach the men in our corps and community about the ways of God and the life and teachings of Jesus? Men of God, you who are fathers, it is our responsibility to be the spiritual head of our families. Let s be the kind of examples who teach our families the Word and ways of God. It certainly is our job to teach the Word and ways of God to all the men with whom we come in contact. So, let s live out our walk with the Lord as an example, that other men will come to know the living God who gave His only begotten Son. And just maybe, God will use us as His instruments in building up His Kingdom! Over and over again we see God telling us to teach others about Him, just like He told us in Deuteronomy to teach our children, and to teach them constantly about the things of God. It s our job, our responsibility, to go and make disciples! Ezra 7:25 (NLT) 4nd you, Ezra, are to use the wisdom your God has given you to appoint magistrates and judges who knoiv your God s laws to govern all the people in the province west of the Euphrates Rivem Teach the law to anyone who does not know it. 7 WEEK TWO - CONTINUED Colossians 3:16 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom FTc gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts? Colossians 3:16 (MSG) Let the Word of Christ the Message have the run of the house. Give it plenty of roonz in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Lesson Three - Release WEEK THREE Meii For Service Matthew 28:19 (VOICE) 19 Go out and make disciples in all the nations. Ceremonially wash them through baptism in the name of the triune God: Fathe,; Son, and Holy Spirit. Release Men For Service 4. How are we as men doing in the area of Discipleship? 5. If the Word of Christ dwells within us richly, then will we have an advantage when we teach men about Christ? It means to do what He says in a way that makes Him look supremely valuable in Himself It means to submit to Him in a way that makes Him look thrilling. There are ways to submit to God that only make Him loolc threatening, not thrilling. There are ways to do what He says that only call attention to the fact that He is an authority not a treasure. That kind of service is not the service God commands. What s the difference? The dlfference is that God has told us riot to serve Him as though He needed anything. Acts 17:25 He is not served by human hands, as though lie needed anything, since 1-le Himselfgives to all mankind life and breath and evemything. Jesus Said...I Wifi Make You Fishers Of Men!
