This fall semester, we will be studying Galatians and Ephesians. Have you ever studied either of these books? What comes to mind when you think about them? 4. Both Galatians and Ephesians are letters. Read Galatians 1:1-2 and Ephesians 1:1-2. Who wrote these letters? 5. Read Galatians 1:1-2 again. To whom is Paul writing? Look at your map and list some of the cities Paul visited in Galatia. What happened when Paul and Barnabas spoke the good news of Jesus Christ to these Gentiles? Read Acts 13: Read Galatians 1:3-10. What seems to astonish Paul in verse 6? How many times do you see the word gospel in these verses? How would you explain in your own words the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and Acts 13:32-39.

Psalm 119:160 Why study the Bible? Because it is: 1.God s true Word 2.Personal and Relational 3. Reveals God 4. Formative What shall we study this semester? Galatians and Ephesians Letters in the New Testament written by Paul Why study these letters? They are important. They teach us basic beliefs of Christianity. They are relevant for today. They teach us how to live out our belief. Galatians 1:1-10 Galatians is all about God s grace. Paul s Greeting vs.1-5 Who is he? An apostle commissioned by the Jesus and God the Father What is his message? Jesus died to rescue us! What is his motive? To glorify God the Father To whom does he write? The churches in Galatia Paul s Genuine Concern vs. 6-7 The Galatians are turning away from God and His. They are accepting a salvation which requires keeping the Old Testament law. Paul is furious as the false teachers undermine the truth of God. Paul s Gospel vs Paul is preaching the one and only true of Jesus Christ. The good news: Salvation comes by God s grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone! 4 Free and Rich in Christ Galatians 1:1-10 September 10, 2015 Psalm 119:103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 2 Peter 3:15b-16 Our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. Ephesians 1:1b To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you Colossians 1:2 To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 1 John 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (NIV) Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. Acts 14:27 And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
