1 The Joshua Code The Greatest Exchange Ever March 1-2, 2014 Pastor John Lloyd O.S. Hawkins shares, the secret to the Christian life is not that it is a changed life but an exchanged life. It is not that we simply take on a few new sets of moral standards and attempt to change our attitudes and our activities. Instead, at the moment of conversion, we give God our old life, He puts it away, and comes to live in us in the person of the Holy Spirit. God s promise is that He will abide there, never leave us, filling us and empowering us for service. This exchange is one of the keys for every follower of Christ to understand and access each and every day to bring God more glory in our lives. 2 Big Idea: Great exchange is about dying to my old life and allowing Jesus to live His life in and through me. Not I but Christ. How does the greatest exchange happen? I. The great exchange starts with giving God my old. himself for me. Ephesians 4:22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 2 Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (Romans 8:15) I Peter 4:2 so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. 3 For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. John 12:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Do I delight in my life in this world more than in God? Or do I think so little of my life, and so much of God, that I am willing to sacrifice it all for God? Give God your old life and ask Jesus for new life! Holding onto your old life will not save you.

3 II. The great exchange begins when I allow Jesus to in me. himself for me. (Romans 6:6) The secret of the Christian life is not that it is a changed life but an exchanged life. John 21:18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go. (Psalm 2:8) Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
