3 INTRODUCTION LETTER FROM Linda Coetzee A member of Voices for Christ Cell: Fax: linda@voicesforchrist.co.za Dear Reader, This press kit has been compiled in order to introduce the all women s Gospel group called Voices for Christ and the music ministry we are performing. We have included a short biography, a sample of the album artwork, the current performance schedule, a reference to our official photographs, the press release and our contact details. 4 BIOGRAPHY Group Name: VOICES FOR CHRIST The intent behind choosing this name is to be seen as Voices, in the context of a ladies singing group, that assist in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and living for Christ, through singing and music ministry as encapsulated in the Mission Statement. Mission Statement: The mission of VOICES FOR CHRIST is to proclaim to all people, denominations, churches and organizations, the Everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ through praise and ministry in spiritual song as instructed in Ephesians 5:19 "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord" and Psalm 95:2 "Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song". There is one thing we do on earth that we will continue to do in Heaven and that is to praise and worship God. That is why we should view life on earth, for those who love Jesus, as choir practice for Heaven. One of the most important activities of the human heart is to praise and worship God. This is the reason we exist. Supporting this activity is the purpose of VOICES FOR CHRIST. Current Members: Leonie Cloete (Soprano, Alto) Linda Coetzee (Alto, Contralto) Elsabé Genade (Alto) Amanda Kilian (Contralto, Alto) Gerda van Biljon (Alto, Soprano) Marinda Wallace (Soprano) Genre: The VOICES FOR CHRIST genre is mostly focused on Gospel with a Spiritual tone. The group, with their diverse vocal ranges, allows for a wide variety of group-, quartet-, duet-, and solo- combinations, harmonies, and tempo s, but always keeping in mind spirituality and the sacredness of the Gospel message being portrayed. Group Style: The group style is specifically and exclusively chosen as all girl harmony (with music backing and/or A Capella) portraying a relaxing through to mellow contemporary musical presence. 5 Unique Features: a) The Group specializes in ladies harmony. b) The Group portrays a highly professional, elegant and dedicated image. c) A broad vocal range from 1 st Soprano down to Contralto (including one of the deepest female voices most people have ever heard). d) A wide variety of song styles and part combinations from solos through to a full sextet. e) Most of the members are soloists in their own right. Home Base and Geography: The Group operates from Durbanville in Cape Town, but performs anywhere in South Africa or for that matter globally. Performance History: The Group started informally in March 2005 with a number of the ladies getting together and singing a few items at a local church. The response was so overwhelming that the Group was asked to perform more regularly. At the end of 2006 the group formalized their activities under the name VOICES FOR CHRIST, which was a name used by Linda Coetzee and a partner for a number of years. In 2007 VOICES FOR CHRIST decided to produce their first album, titled ABOVE ALL, and have had an incredibly good response in sales. VOICES FOR CHRIST have performed at many churches and functions, amongst other: Parow, Goodwood, Helderberg, Tygerberg, Fishhoek, Worcester, Robertson, Brackenfell, Facreton, Athlone, Riverside etc. with amazing response. The Group uses, and travels with, their own sound equipment and sound engineer. Performance Frequency: The public performance details are available on the VOICES FOR CHRIST website and can be viewed at anytime along with any news that pertains to the Group. Internet Site: The website contains sample songs, links to CD sales, member profiles, performance schedules and constantly updated news and references. 6 Between 1 December 2007 and 29 February 2008 alone, the website, amazingly, already had over 30,000 hits/visits from all over the world with many bookings and CD sales culminating from it. CD Sales: The CD, ABOVE ALL, is distributed by Bowline Music to music retailers in South Africa, and in the future, globally. The CD is also available via the Bowline Music online shop for purchases with credit card over the internet. If a store does not carry our CD, please request them to contact Bowline Music immediately to obtain copies. Support for this will be greatly appreciated to help VOICES FOR CHRIST defray costs and grow their ministry. Performance Bookings: To secure a performance, you can contact Linda Coetzee on linda@voicesforchrist.co.za, or via her cell phone: Linda will provide a formal quotation and performance agreement if the Group accepts the performance booking. Please book well in advance to prevent disappointment as VOICES FOR CHRIST S performance schedule fills up quickly. 7 We would just like to formally thank you for the wonderful program which your group rendered, especially after a very emotionally draining week for some of your members. Not only did we find it spiritually uplifting and enjoyable, but one sensed a similar presence of the Holy Spirit at work which we would normally expect from the conventional divine service led by a spiritual leader such as a pastor or lay preacher. The speeches, readings, scriptural references and song content all blended together wonderfully to make a really memorable Sabbath. Beside the above we especially appreciate the conservative yet lively tone of the songs, the professional dress code and manner in which equipment was set up, utilized and tidied up again. It was clear that much time and practice had gone into preparing for the event, yet you were open to the spirits moving and allowed this to shine through. Thank you once more.
