We have a number of openings in our preschool and children s ministries and would love to have you join our teaching team. God has blessed us with lots of young families. Did you know it takes 200 Preschool Teachers and 60 Children s Teachers every Sunday morning to love on these kids and teach them God s Word! The new Sunday School Year starts August 13 and we have about 20 opportunities in the preschool department and 15 in the children s department. 2 CONNECTIONS from your Pastor s Heart Schindler s List Do You Have One? Oskar Schindler was an industrialist in Poland during World War II. In his factory, which produced enamel kitchenware for the German army, he began to employ Jewish workers which prevented them from being deported to the Nazi Work Camps. When it became apparent that the Jews were being murdered by the thousands in the gas chambers of Auschwitz, Schindler and his wife Emile expanded their rescue efforts by expending their personal fortune to employ far more people than the factory could host. By the spring of 1944, his list of Jewish employees numbered When the war was over and the full extent of the horrors of the concentration camp and the Jewish holocaust were exposed, Schindler lamented that he had not added more people to his list and provided for them salvation. During our brief sojourn on earth, God invites His followers to join His holy quest to seek and save the lost. (Luke 19:10) Jesus declared that He came to rescue people because they are perishing. (John 3:16) Let me urge you to make your own version of Schindler s List by identifying people who need to be rescued by getting connected to the eternal life provided by Jesus. Oskar Schindler Make your own Salvation List of people who need to know our loving, rescuing Savior. Then bring those friends to places like First Baptist where the path to Jesus will be clearly communicated. Share your salvation story with friends on your list. Give them a Bible and point them to John s Gospel. Bring them to special events that feature God s Message. Offer your seeking friend a copy of Lee Strobel s compelling book The Case for Christ. Pray that God would activate John 16:7-8 in the seeker s life and they would choose to turn from their sin that leads to death and connect with their Savior who provides forgiveness and the free gift of eternal life. (Romans 6:23) In the same way Oskar Schindler used his earthly resources to save perishing people from the hellish Nazi gas chambers of Auschwitz, you can utilize your earthly resources to save perishing people from an eternal separation from their Creator and find a fulfilling forever friendship with our loving King Jesus! So make your list. The Wednesday Night Oasis, which includes Children s Music, kicks off on August 16 at 5:45 pm. Ministry Announcements Preschool Ministry Parents, don t miss Parents Night Out on Friday, August 11 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. This is your time to have a date night or just sit at home in peace and quiet! The event is free, but you need to register your children (8 weeks to 6th grade) by noon on Thursday, August 3. To register, visit parents-night-out. Children s Ministry Do you believe God s word? Know that satan, God s adversary, will do whatever he can to distract you, embarrass, and destroy you. Join us on Wednesday, July 19 at 5:30 pm in room A311 for Unseen, a Bible study that will teach you how to put on God s armor so that you can protect yourself from satan s attacks. All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders are invited to join us for a day trip to Desoto Caverns on Tuesday, July 18. The cost is $35. Our FBC mission team will work with Jackson Heights Community Church and church planter Adam Bishop to connect with his community by passing out over 300 backpacks to school-aged children at the block party. 5 Items are needed to help with a Lottie Moon Silent Auction which will happen during a Missionary gathering in Mexico in July. These items will be purchased by missionaries and the income will go back into Lottie Moon Mission Offering. Suggested items are hard to get food items, over the counter medication, gift cards, luggage, sunglasses, skincare items, specialty gifts, time share certificates, etc. Items can be dropped off at the missions wall in the foyer or at the reception area by July 16.
