1 WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS 1. "Rizpah's Reprise" Rev. Sharon Buttry This workshop will focus on the courageous actions of Rizpah, a woman not often studied in the Old Testament. We will discover how this woman changed the heart of King David through her grief. Who are the courageous women around the world who weep in protest, so others may dance when the day of justice comes around? Hear 3 inspiring stories of modern day Rizpah's from Dan and Sharon's peace journeys around the world. And just maybe, you will discover your 'inner Rizpah!' I am a member of Genesis the Church in Royal Oak, Community Connections Pastor of True Worship Church, Hamtramck, Associate Director of Mission and Training with Acts 29 and the International Hope Center, Hamtramck, Police Chaplain, Hamtramck Police Department, a part time Global Consultant for Community Transformation with International Ministries, ABC USA, and I have 3 adult children and love to paint. I also love to grow flowers in the inner city where I live. 2. Soaking: Be still and know that I am God. A time to keep silent. Yvonne Hackett A quiet time to help us connect with God's presence. In today's cluttered world, where we busy ourselves with electronic distractions and activities that requires rushing to and fro, it is so important that we find moments of peace and rest in the presence of God. Soaking worship can help get you there. She is, currently, President of American Baptist Women s Ministries of Michigan. She is a Deaconess and Superintendent of Sunday School at the Renaissance Baptist Church of Detroit where she is a Charter Member. She is the mother of two children, Dr. Joel Hackett, Jr. (deceased) and Mrs. Pamela Hall of Adrian, Michigan. She has four grandchildren. She is active in many Civic, Social and Volunteer Organizations in Metro Detroit. She is a retired educator, having worked for the Detroit Public Schools for 32 years. She retired in (Participants will need to dress comfortably and bring a pillow, a mat, blanket or beach towel. Some may want to recline on the floor as we soak in God's presence. Bring Bibles.) 3. Should I go or Should I stay? Gloria Hernandez What season do you find yourself in? Solomon said that even the ants know the season. Come join us in discovering yours. Be wise and learn to live fully in the season God has placed you in. Satan s desire is that we should waste the season we are in. I am a retired nurse and have been married for 45 years to my best friend, Alex. I love the Lord, I love my six grandchildren and enjoy my flower garden (in that order). This is my second workshop experience. I look forward to see how God will lead me in sharing His word with old friends and new comers. 4. Warriors for Peace Murphy This workshop will give us tools for living Ecclesiastes 3:8: A time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. We will learn about how to fight for what matters non violently. God does not call us to violence, but neither does He call us to be passive doormats. We are to be assertive agents who fight non violently for peace and justice. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Spiritual Director, Pulpit Supply Preacher, Workshop Leader and Retreat Facilitator. I have been married for 29 years and have two grown children. I traveled to Kenya in September 2013 to spend 10 days in intensive training with Dan and Sharon Buttry learning to teach Conflict Transformation skills with 31 others from 9 different countries. 5. A Time for Whatever it Takes Clanita Rucker Christian We will be dealing with a time to serve now nurturing our women. So in doing so we use our hands when serving, so we will take time out to exfoliate our hands, a cleansing if you will so all who come whether women or men can participate in this and I will share on scripture. When all is done I would really like if everyone could take the time to

2 reflect and sow a seed into the ministry in helping to further the work of helping and serving in the community. Clanita has been a Christian most of her life. Clanita has one son Emmanuel Cornelius Christian. Clanita is married to the husband of her youth, the love of her life Rev. Samuel Cornelius Christian, who is also her son's father, which took a 30 year journey. She is also part of the manager team at Dollar Tree Stores Inc. Clanita also is a mentor for the Center For Transformation which represents eight different churches in the community of Kalamazoo, that mentors to Returning Citizens. She is also an Entrepreneur who owns her own business as a beauty consultant through Beauti Control. This has allowed her to make contact with people to not only share but to be able to serve and to minister as well helping people to realize their dreams and to know if you put God first anything is possible. Clanita partners with her husband in a community outreach ministry called T.H.U.M.B. which stands for Tears From Heaven Universal Ministries Of The Blessed where Romans 12:1 2 and 2 Corinthians 3:17 tells us that we are a ministry of transformation and liberation. 6. I Will Bless the Lord at All Times Rev. Shaun Turner Everything in life has a season, its proper time as ordained by God. Holding fast to this scripture will teach you that even in times of trouble, God is still good and working things out for your good. In times of mourning, of weeping, in times of travail, God is a very present help and will strengthen you in and through this season until you once again experience the joy of laughter and the ecstasy of dancing with reckless abandonment. We will share experiences where God has given us beauty for ashes...mary Magdalene trembled in the early morning air as she made her way to the tomb carrying the customary spices to prepare the Lord's body for burial. Even in her grief, she remained faithful to the Lord. It is the encounter with the risen Lord that turned her mourning into enraptured joy...it is our encounter with a merciful, loving Lord, it is our faith, our commitment to Him that allows us to accept God's timetable and not be crushed by it. We will explore other biblical woman of enduring faith and converse as much as time allows, on some of our own experiences where we have chosen to 'bless the Lord,' even in the times of weeping and mourning fully persuaded that joy is coming in the morning... Rev. Shaun J. Turner is an associate minister at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. She has been a member of Hartford all her life. She is the granddaughter of the late Rev. Charles A. Hill, Sr., who pastored Hartford Avenue Baptist Church from She is blessed to serve under the God inspired leadership of her Pastor and mentor, Rev. Charles Gilchrist Adams. Rev. Shaun has recently retired from the Department of Treasury after 33 years of service and is looking forward to working full time in ministry. She has one son, Alvin, and is expecting her first grandchild in early April. Rev. Shaun truly loves the Lord and enjoys witnessing to His amazing grace at every opportunity. 7. Can We Talk? Rev. Gloriane Hymon Wiley This is a workshop dealing with the issues of marriage and divorce from a female perspective and biblically, using a few of the lesser known women of the bible. Gloriane Hymon Wiley is an associate minister of Greater Christ Baptist Church and is enrolled as a full time student at Ecumenical Theological Seminary pursuing a Master s of Divinity. She has earned a Bachelor s in Economics from the University of Michigan and a Master s in Management from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration, with 28 years of Bank Retail Management and Director of Family Service for a well known nonprofit. She has been a member of Greater Christ Baptist Church for more than 23 years under the pastoral care of Rev. James C. Perkins, where she developed appreciation for community outreach ministries, which has changed the career path focus to Community and Economic Development. She preached her trial sermon in In 2013 she was appointed, Interim Executive Director of Detroit Friendship House, an affiliate ministry of American Baptist Churches. As a result, she has established an evangelism ministry addressing the real issues of New Moms today, called W.O.V.E.N. (Women of Value, Excellence and Nurture) Together. Thus far she has performed 2 Community Baby Dedications at two separate churches where 20 children have been dedicated to the Lord so far. Her ministerial goals for 2014 are the dedication of 50 children and officiating 10 marriages. She is a life member and Silver Star of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; the proud Aunt to 43 nieces and nephews; and the daughter of L. C. and (the late) Alma Hymon Sr.

We will decoupage the words of Ecclesiastes 3:1, along with a pretty fabric on the back of a see through glass plate to use at church potlucks or at home. If you have a pretty fabric you like, bring it along. It must me thin and flexible. This class will take both Friday and Saturday Leisure Time. Additional cost $5.00 Hi Girls I am a dabbler at everything and a master of nothing I sure enjoy the journey. I was an elementary teacher for 30 years and have been your conference registrar and coordinator in the past. My husband and I are enjoying travel this year Florida, Western Canyons and England/Scotland this fall. (God willing and my health improves.)
