1 February 15, 2015 Jesus: I m iss Him Article By: Lowell Dick Hillis Lee Strobel refers to an interview with Charles Templeton in his book The Case for Faith. Templeton went from being a prominent evangelist to a noted agnostic/atheist. In the beginning stages of Alzheimer s, he wrote a book stating his reasons for unbelief, in which he said Jesus was the most important individual who ever lived. That speaks volumes about the impact Jesus has had on society. He made an even more prominent statement in reference to the Lord he once followed, saying simply, I miss him. (Strobel, Lee, The Case for Faith. Grand Rapids, MI. Zondervan, 2000, pp ) The nature of faith has always been difficult, to believe in impossible times. But if you have had any knowledge of Jesus, it can never be completely erased. It touches the inner craving of the soul. I have often talked with those once faithful, who no longer care. At best they give a shallow reason for no longer being faithful. Most likely, they will never come back. I know those who have never been obedient, yet that knowledge of Jesus still gnaws at their hearts. Jesus said He will draw all men unto Him. There is a drawing power, but that power will not force obedience. We are warned: For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries Heb. 10:26,27. Without Jesus, what is left? Be warned to watch your life, your living, your service, lest some day you, too, may say of Jesus, when you cannot return, I miss him.

2 H uggin g to L ife A business executive became depressed. Things were not going well at work, and he was bringing his problems home with him every night. Every evening he would eat his dinner in silence, shutting out his wife and five-year-old daughter. Then he would go into the den and read the paper - using the newspaper to wall his family out of his life. After several nights of this, his daughter took her hand and pushed the newspaper down. She then jumped into her father's lap, wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him strongly. The father said abruptly, "Honey, you are hugging me to death!"
