She majored in psychology at Hope College in Holland Michigan. She received her masters in psychology at Indiana State and her PHD in clinical psychology at Illinois Institute of Technology. She is employed with Fort Wayne Medical Education Program. Heidi's biggest likes are gardening and baking. She has served on the board of directors in the Women's Bureau and the YWCA. On May 22, 2004 she married John in St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Rachel was born and raised in Fort Wayne. Her birth date is May 7, She is a sixth grader at Woodside Middle School. She enjoys being in theatre, singing, dancing and gymnastics. She has helped lead the singing here at Praise several times. Lauren was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 5, She is a senior at Homestead High School. She enjoys being a lifeguard and swimming at the YMCA. Right now she is trying to figure out what college she would like to attend. Emily was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 3, She is a freshman at IPFW where she is majoring in art education. She works at Subway and she likes to draw. Heidi feels that Praise is so welcoming and so friendly. Andrea O Day Andrea was born on February 11, 1962 in Fort Wayne, where she was also raised. She attended Indiana Wesleyan, receiving her associate degree in business administration, and her bachelor's degree in business management. She was employed at Aetna Insurance for 32 years and just retired. She enjoys reading, walking and working out. She has volunteered at Wise Women's Mentoring Group and at Community Garden. She has a 23 year old son who resides in Fort Wayne. Andrea says that she enjoyed becoming a member of Praise and is getting involved. Joe Rasdorf Joe was born in Fort Wayne on June 19, 1994 and was raised in Ossian. He is a senior at Trine University in Angola where he is majoring in design engineer technology and minoring in plastics. He likes to play basketball, watch movies, play video games and spend time with friends. He has coached for Upwards, a program that brings in young kids (K-5). They are taught how to play basketball and they also do devotions. Joe says he loves Praise. It has a warm atmosphere, and he loves Pastor Seth. Continue on Page 2

2 The Praise Pulse Page 2 Mary Wilson Born November 23, 1961 in Fort Wayne, Mary was also raised here. She Graduated from Trine University in Angola with a major in business management. She is employed with Parker Hannifin in Ashley, Indiana. Mary likes to exercise, garden and be around friends and family. She enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher at Peace Lutheran in Fremont, Indiana. On September 11, 1982, Mary wed Tim in Bethlehem Lutheran in Fort Wayne. They have one daughter, Kelli, who is 25 years old. She resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. About Praise, Mary says she's always felt welcomed. She feels that Praise is "my home". She said, "Pastor Seth is great. I feel energized when I walk out of church on Sunday." We are very happy to welcome you to Praise Heidi, Rachel, Andrea, Joe and Mary. 3 The Praise Pulse Page 3 Outreach Ministry By Lynette Lehman The Gathering (Praise s Young Adult Ministry) Another opportunity to get involved in an event that focuses on the families of the church, daycare and the community. The community engagement ministry (outreach) is looking for support for a fun Easter Eggstravaganza event to take place at Praise on April 8 th at 9-11:30AM. We re looking for input for fun activities, such as the Easter egg hunt, games and other activities. We will need donations such as gift cards, candy, monetary gifts and prizes for games. For all those who would like to volunteer to help, a meeting will be held on Monday, March 20 th at 6:30 PM. At that time, areas you would wish to work in, will be assigned. For any questions you might have, please call Lynette Lehman at Leave a message as I am at work a lot.. Thank You! On Friday March 24 at 6:30pm, join other college/ post-college aged young adults as we gather at Cebolla s Mexican Grill (602 E Dupont Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825) for a time of food, fellowship, and community-building. Plan to join in too as we continue meeting once a month to tour the Fort for other restaurants, activities/events, and other hidden gems! The Little Praisers children and staff had a great National Lutheran Schools Week. We had fun dressing up and showing our school spirit. We collected 334 items for the Associated Churches Food Bank. We are in the process of re-enrolling our current families. We will start open enrollment on March 2nd. Little Praisers is still in need of a few good teachers. 5 The Praise Pulse Page 5 ( Thrivent Action Team Grants Another wonderful opportunity is being presented to Praise Lutheran through Thrivent Action Team Grants. In an attempt to support congregations community engagement efforts, Thrivent is offering (1-2) $250 Action Team Grants PER Thrivent Member per calendar year, based on participation (Benefit vs Associate membership). As Praise looks to expand its efforts with community engagement/outreach, youth ministries, and so forth, this will be a great way to secure financial support. PLUS- it s FREE! It costs Thrivent members nothing (this is different than Choice Dollars). To ensure that we are able to line up an Action Team Grant with the year s events in a timely fashion, (Easter Eggstravaganza, Vacation Bible School, the Fall Festival, etc.) please consider doing the following to help Praise in coordinating its efforts: Check your Thrivent Membership Status (Benefit vs Associate) Contact Praise s Secretary, Karen Patterson, with the information for Coordination Purposes Look for an /phone call from Pastor Seth and/or a Ministry Chairman to learn how you can direct this FREE Action Team Grant towards one of Praise s upcoming events. Apply (To apply, go Thrivent s website (noted above) and scroll to the bottom of the page and locate Thrivent Action Teams under the heading Making a Difference. There you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire as to what the funds will be used for.) We praise God for these financial gifts that are being made available to us through our friends at Thrivent!
