A.1 Read the following passage carefully. SECTION A (Reading : 20 marks) Let me Live In the serenity of lush green forests, Marcus was having a peaceful existence along with his two cubs and his tigress. He was enjoying his life in the forest with his fellow companions. Till one fine day when their peace was impeached upon by the poachers. The whole existence of species of animals was challenged, as now they had to watch their movement in their own homes. So much so, that Marcus lost his family in an escapade from the poachers... and now he was left alone. Another monster which caused havoc in his life was extreme hot and dry weather. As designed by fate, even Marcus wasn't spared. Monsters of Global Warming, Scarcity of Water and Loss of Habitat were lurking large on the forest. Marcus fell in a semi-conscious state. And were his prayers answered???.. YES... one fine day the whole forest witnessed a row of cars and jeeps of some human species, who were dressed up as forest officers. They got down from their jeep and tended on Marcus, checked his heart beat and injected some medicine in his body to relieve his pain. They caressed his grieved body and tied his paws to lift him on a stretcher. He was put in their van and taken off for a new beginning... yes he was taken to a new home in a wildlife sanctuary. The boy is surprised, but does not understand. Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back everything you have given to it." YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT S A REFLECTION OF YOU. Ex-spiker first Indian amputee on Everest Arunima Sinha, a former national level volleyball player who had lost one of her legs after being thrown off a moving train, created history on Tuesday by becoming the first Indian amputee to conquer Mount Everest. Twenty five years old Sinha reached the 8,848 metre-high summit of the world's highest peak at 10.55am on Tuesday, as a member of the Eco Everest Expedition from the Tata Group, an official of the Tourism Ministry of Nepal said. Sinha, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, was pushed out of the general compartment of Padmawati Express for resisting a chain-snatching attempt, while travelling from Lucknow to Delhi on April 12, She was hit by a passing train and was seriously injured. She was hospitalized with serious leg and pelvic injuries and in a bid to save her life, doctors had to amputate her left leg below the knee. In an interview to an Indian TV channel before leaving for her expedition, Sinha recollected how she had decided to get her life back right in the hospital when she was recovering. "At that time everyone was worried for me. I then realised, I had to do something in my life so that people stop looking at me with pity. I read about people scaling the Mt Everest. I spoke to my older brother and my coach who only encouraged me," she had told NDTV. Overcoming the scars of the accident and defying all odds, Arunima started training at the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) camp in Uttarkashi last year under the guidance of Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to conquer Mt Everest. On Monday two 21-year-old Indian sisters scripted history by becoming the first twins ever to conquer the summit of Mount Everest together. Tashi and Nancy Malik from Dehradun achieved this feat along with other record-makers, including the first women from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to have climbed the peak. (3/7)
