2 A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRS THE GIFT OF LEADERSHIP WEEKLY CALENDAR SICK & SHUT IN MEMBERS To Our Sisters in Christ, It has been an honor to serve with you during this joyous Women's Day season. Over the past month, we have learned that joy is a byproduct of salvation, a gift given freely by God to each of us. We conclude Women's Day with the understanding that if we remain in God's presence and lean on our sisters, we can maintain joy in every life season. We have truly enjoyed embarking upon this journey with you. The excitement, creativity, and commitment that you brought to every aspect of our planning made this Women's Day a tremendous success. We are grateful for your willingness to give of your time and talents to honor God and to uplift your sisters. Thank you to all who helped to plan this enriching season, as well as each of you who have participated in the program today. We are especially thankful to Reverend Danielle Bridgeforth, who has been a spiritual advisor and ministry leader throughout our entire planning process. This has been an awesome and exciting time in the Lord, and we hope that you have also been blessed. We look forward to continuing on this journey together. 3 ANNOUNCEMENTS ORDER OF SERVICE Weekly International Prayer Focus Country: CUBA In support of our evangelistic and missionary ministries endeavors to spread the gospel throughout the world as stated in Acts 1:8, we turn our international prayer focus this week toward Cuba. Although Christian resources are hard to come by for churches not aligned with the government, the Church in general is beginning to minister in innovative and bold ways. Many new believers are young people. Charismatic/Pentecostal groups in particular report spectacular growth. Pray that this dynamic faith community would be a light to the nation and have a powerful transforming effect on Cuba. Senior Ministry Outing: Please come and fellowship with the Senior Ministry on May 21 st for an outing to the Amish Flea Market, Charlotte Hall, Maryland, which features the best home-grown local produce, Amish baked goods, etc. The price is only $10.00 per person. We will have lunch at Golden Corral; lunch is on your own. We will depart the Church at 9 a.m. Please see Sister Gail Nelson ( ) to pay your $10.00 or one of the members of the Senior Ministry if you are interested in going. Thank you for supporting our Senior Ministry. Higher Learning Ministry: If you want to "Empower our Children for Life" please consider tutoring one of our young people on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Currently we still have two students in grades 4 & 6 who need tutors for the 2014 school year. If you are interested please contact Sis. Mercedes at: (202) or huffstuff@verizon.net The 8th Annual HID Golf Outing will be held at the Laurel Hills Golf Club on Monday, May 5th, 2014 to support Clean Water for Africa. Players and sponsors are needed to continue to make this effort a success. Please contact Minster Reed at (915) to practice your golf game or for more information. SAVE THE DATE: The Women s Ministry will hold a Women s Retreat from October 31-November 2 at Wyndham Crossings in Glen Allen, VA. All women are invited. Details and payment plans coming soon. The Shiloh International Missions is partnering with a local short term foreign mission group to offer a God Encountering Experience to Sao Paulo, Brazil, from October 26-November 4. The team will engage in a variety of ministry support services to schools, hospitals and others in need all across the city. Please contact Deacon Dan Ross at (571) for more information. 4 THE HISTORY OF WOMEN S DAY OUR GUEST SPEAKER FOR 11 A.M. SERVICE DR. SHAKINA DUNBAR RAWLINGS Women s Day was originally proposed to the National Baptist Convention by Nannie Helen Burroughs in When it was first celebrated nationally two years later, the purpose of the day was two-fold: to raise money for foreign missions and to prepare women as public speakers. Here at Shiloh, Women s Day has been recognized for more than 50 years. It is an occasion to commemorate the many contributions women have made to the Kingdom of God, recognize the unique joys and concerns in the lives of women, and further the mission of Shiloh Baptist Church. We Give Thanks for the Gift of Praise & Worship Women s Day Choir David s Dancers Lisa Howard Sonya Jones Deborah Robertson Sound Ministry Ushers Ministry The Band Barbara Gaskins, Guitar Ronnette Harrison, Keyboards/Band Leader Candra Rutledge, Bass Guitar Kisheena Wanza, Drums/Percussion Nakia Simon, Organist The Gift of Nourishment Breakfast available for all women for $5 provided by Do Yourself a Flava Catering A passion for His people Dr. Shakina Dunbar Rawlings Dr. Rawlings accepted Christ at the age of nine and joined the Macedonia Baptist Church (MBC) in Arlington, VA. She quickly became an active disciple at MBC by ministering through her gift of singing. Since then, Dr. Rawlings served as directress of MBC s Unity in Worship & Youth Choirs; Leader of the Praise & Worship Team; Minister of Generation Now - Youth & Young Adult Ministry, and most recently served as the Associate Pastor of Administration. Although Dr. Rawlings initially ministered through her gift of singing, in January 2006, she answered God s call to preach the Gospel. Two years later on July 9, 2008, she was officially licensed to preach. With license in hand, Dr. Rawlings was equipped and ready to do more to win souls for Jesus Christ. In June 2012, Dr. Rawlings was one of seven ministers chosen to preach for the Hampton University Ministers conference s first ever series of New Emerging Voices. Dr. Rawlings was ordained on October 23, 2013 and after actively serving at MBC, God called her to Found and Pastor the Kingdom Fellowship Church. As God has given Dr. Rawlings a passion for His people, He has also placed in her heart the desire to see young ladies and women become all God has designed them to be. In October 2010, Dr. Rawlings founded Jireh s Place - an organization dedicated to young ladies and young mothers in need of an adequate support system to help diffuse the daily educational, economic, and social challenges that all too often determine the destiny of our young people. Dr. Rawlings holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from George Mason University, a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University School of Divinity, and an earned Doctorate of Ministry Degree in Prophetic Preaching for the 21 st Century from the United Theological Seminary. Dr. Rawlings dissertation work was entitled Prophetic Preaching that Transforms the Leadership Structure and Development of the Church. Dr. Rawlings is supported by her loving husband, Dawud Rawlings. They are the proud parents of a daughter, Amena Rawlings. 4 9

As much as she is known for her irresistible, down home southern-style cooking, she is also known for serving practical, down-to-earth, yet mind-changing and life-saving messages from the Word of God. Her unique delivery whether in conversation over a pot of food, leading a group of women, or from the church pulpit is real-to-life, straight talk packed with anointed power for whoever her audience may be. Just like a Proverbs 31 woman, Minister Belinda is a woman of many gifts, for she has served in multiple ministries and in multiple roles at Victory Christian Ministries in Suitland, Maryland. Never shy about drawing on her own personal experiences, she has poured out her life in ministry as the Administrator of the Virtuous Women Ministry and the Singles Ministry, within in the Hospitality Ministry, as an Instructor in the School of Ministry, Head of Intercessory Prayer Ministry and as a Minister and Counselor. Her practical yet life-changing ministry sets people free from addictions, bondage and strongholds. In fact, everyone who comes in contact with her is truly blessed by her, such that she has become a spiritual big sister to many. No doubt, when one gets a taste of what Minister Belinda has to give, they will have had anointed chicken soup for the spirit, mind and soul! She retired from the U.S. Senate and married William Crawford the same year. They have been blessed with two daughters. Her primary residence is Raleigh, NC. She is a member of Haven Of Hope Christian Church in Durham, NC. 6 7
