6 Pastor Julian Dangerfield Pastor, Leader, Consultant, Speaker and Executive Director. For the past two years, Julian has served as the Interim Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, which has seen over 150 people join during that short time. In February of 1999, Pastor Dangerfield resigned from an illustrious career in Software Engineering, to serve the ministry of Shalom Outreach as its Executive Director. He has completed his Master of Arts degree in Leadership, Evangelism and Mobilization at Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina. In the United States he has organized the mission efforts of over 25 churches, ministries and not for profit organizations which has resulted in over 46,000 people coming to Christ. His intense training and its subsequent manual has been reproduced by other organizations and continues to serve and establish policy across the world. Julian's perspective is informed by over 25 years of experience in international mission work and he has traveled to over 40 countries executing strategies that lifts humanity while expanding God s Kingdom. 10 Children s Day History The 2nd Sunday in June has been long noted by Protestants in the United States as Children s Day. Although it is not known who had the original ideal to devote a complete day of service to the interest of boys and girls. The significance of Children s Day is that it recognizes that our children are our future and emphasizes the importance of their spiritual gifts and development. Children s Day at Shiloh has a rich history and tradition that dates back to For over 113 years Shiloh Baptist Church School sponsored the Children s Day Program. Supportive parents and friends have faithfully served as Children s Day Chairperson s providing encouragement and guidance. Many Shiloh members, (Sisters Lillian Gray, Mary Williams, Elaine Augustus, Mable Lyles and many others) gave countless hours of their time and talents by serving as chairpersons and coordinators for both the morning and evening programs: Children and Youth were selected for the both services and uplifted the name of Jesus by being worship leaders, reading the scriptures, welcoming our guests, saying the morning and offertory prayer and introducing the speaker of the hour. Choir Directors such as Sisters Brenda Alexander, Robyn Bromley, Marty Joseph and in recent years Kim Gordon, Abrian Jackson and now Harriet Williams prepared our children to sing wonderful songs that Glorified God. Another added bonus has been our Liturgical Arts Ministry which has birth wonderful coordinators like Brother Corey Langand more recently the David s Dancer s Ministry (Samia Byrd, Leslie Alexander, Ellen Rice, Maryah Crews, Jakeeya Veney, Ashley Barbour) and Sisters Theodora Howard and Tenesha Stewart. Additionally, special evening programs were conducted which further allowed children and youth to render praise and glorify God through word, songs, musicals and drama plays. Many of our Shiloh great-grandparents, grandparents, parents and children, past and present have memories of actively participating in the Children s Day Program. We thank God for the seeds that have been planted and pray God s continued guidance and direction as our children, emulate the Love of God.

12 DO YOU KNOW WHO YOUR TRIBAL LEADER IS? If you don t, this is a great time for you to connect with your family tribe! Shiloh is broken into family tribes and the goal of our tribal ministry is to connect our church members with each other, in an effort to build close relationships. Our Tribal Ministry is built off of the Village concept our African fore-parents created. June is Tribal Ministry Re-emphasis Month. The Diaconate Ministry will be available at the front of the Worship Center after each service during the month of June to assist you in connecting with your tribal leaders and in updating your contact information. Additional information is also available at June 21, 2015 Happy Father s Day Weekly International Prayer Focus Country: In support of our evangelistic and missionary ministries endeavors to spread the gospel throughout the world as stated in Acts 1:8 we turn our international prayer focus this week toward Guatamala. Widespread evangelism occurs by many means Pray that the fruit may be retained, the believers matured and the new generation won for Christ. Shallow professions of faith and an increased rate of backsliding are becoming common as evangelicals become more popular. Nominal evangelicalism is a new challenge facing the churches.

16 Thank God for Little Children - Frances E. W. Harper- Thank God for little children, Bright flowers by earth's wayside, The dancing, joyous lifeboats Upon life's stormy tide. Thank God for little children; When our skies are cold and gray, They come as sunshine to our hearts, And charm our cares away. I almost think the angels, Who tend life's garden fair, Drop down the sweet wild blossoms That bloom around us here. It seems a breath of heaven Round many a cradle lies, And every little baby Brings a message from the skies. Dear mothers, guard these jewels. As sacred offerings meet, A wealth of household treasures To lay at Jesus' feet.
