The Classes Will Begin on Monday, January 24, The Fall 2010 classes of the MWE School of Ministry had a great beginning with the following classes: Systematic Theology I at Big Miller Grove Baptist Church, Systematic Theology II, Bible Interpretation II and New Testament Survey at Fairfield Baptist Church, Systematic Theology I and II at Norman Grove Baptist Church and Sermon and Lesson Development at Shiloh Baptist Church. 2 Bible Interpretation II New Testament Survey COMMUNITY BIBLE STUDY IN LITHONIA, GA Every Thursday evening, 7:00-8:30 pm, Dr. Woods conducts a Community Bible Study. This Bible Study is similar to those that meet at local churches and is for the benefit of all who desire to attend. The class meets at the Willie Watkins Special Events Center, 5843 Redan Road, Lithonia, GA Dr. Woods teaches using an Interactive Handout and he intersperses a variety of theological, doctrinal and hermeneutical matters within the lesson. 4 CHAPEL SERVICES AT LUTHER RICE UNIVERSITY On Tuesday, September 28 and on Thursday, September 30, Dr. Michael Woods served as the guest preacher during the weekly Chapel Services at Luther Rice Seminary and University. Chapel Services are held Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week; 10:00-11:00 am, during the spring and fall semesters. These particular services were the first two of the fall class session. Approximately 100 persons were present for each, with about half being newly-enrolled students. Luther Rice Seminary and University is a school that exalts the Bible as the authoritative Word of God and offers excellence in biblical, theological and ministerial education. 5 COUPLES RETREAT IN DESTIN, FL On September 30 October 3, the Salem Baptist Church of Lilburn, GA held its Annual Couples Retreat in Destin, FL. The Retreat convened at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa and was attended by 38 couples. Friday sessions were led by Pastor Brian Macon and by Salem s pastor, Dr. Richard B. Haynes. Three Saturday sessions were conducted by Dr. Woods and Pastor Macon preached during the Sunday morning closing session. The Salem Couples Ministry is led by Lavoska and Marilyn Barton. 6 HOPEWELL MISSIONARY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION On October 4-6, The Hopewell Missionary Baptist Association held its 125 th Annual Congress on Christian Education. This year s theme was Advancing the Kingdom Through Prayer and Fasting and Dr. Woods served as the Guest Lecturer each night. The Congress met at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Lilburn, Georgia where Dr. Richard Haynes serves as the Senior Pastor. This year s gathering also signaled the end of Pastor Karl Moore s (Clarkston 1 st Baptist Church) tenure as the Association s Moderator. 7 ASSOCIATIATE MINISTER RETREAT On Saturday, October 9, Dr. Ronald D. Dunnigan of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church engaged his Associate Ministers and their spouses in their first annual Associate Minister Retreat. Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is in Lawrenceville, GA and Dr. Dunnigan has been their leader for the past 23 years. The Retreat was held at the Southern Baptist Retreat Center in Taccoa, GA, on beautiful Lake Louise. Dr. Woods served as their facilitator, instructing them on The Associate Minister s Prayer Life, Private Life and Public Life.
