Caring Tip #4 Stephen Ministry at FEPC I can certainly remember alone, and I do, but when someone remembers with me, it is much better. So wrote the founder of Stephen Ministries, after his wife of 33 plus years died. He said that while memories are not a replacement for the real thing, they can be a helpful consolation. Further, he says that one of the greatest gifts you can give someone who s grieving is easy, natural reminiscing about the one who has died. Though we tend to fear that bringing up a loved one s name will cause sadness, it is actually just the opposite: it can be a wonderful affirmation to the person that their deceased loved one was important to others and is not forgotten. So, the next time you re with someone who has had a major loss in the past year (or five, or ten), summon your courage and ask about some memories of their lost loved one. And remember, Stephen Ministers are trained to listen and care when grief seems too hard or goes on and on. 3 Continue the Art of Neighboring This Easter we have a great opportunity to continue neighboring. Post card invitations to our Easter services are available at the Sanctuary exits. Please carefully consider folks you know who are unchurched or who would appreciate an invitation, and take some postcards with you today. Cards will be available until Easter, while they last. The FEPC Men's Chorus The FEPC Men s Chorus will be singing during the service on Sunday, April 28th. Rehearsals will be from at 6:30-6:50 p.m. on Wednesdays in April. 4 Youth Group Changes FEPC's youth group has undergone changes and is in the middle of defining what it means to be a part of our church, and God's family, in this current world. As a part of this change, they have chosen a new name to represent themselves. CIA is the new name of FEPC's youth ministry program. CIA stands for "Christians in Action." The Great Commission, Matthew 28, is our motto as w e equip these students to become disciples of Jesus and share their faith with others as they become more independent. Under the umbrella of CIA Ministries, the middle school and high school programs are united but distinct in their goals and definitions. The middle schoolers chose the name "God Squad" and 2 Timothy 2:22 to define how they are newer to the youth program and are relying on God to grow and knit them into his family, "God's Squad." The high schoolers chose the name "Rooted" and Colossians 2:6-7 to emphasize how this is a time in which they are becoming more deeply rooted in Christ so they have a firm foundation when they go off on their own. The students have been involved in creating their own emblems to reflect their desire for a Christ-centered ministry. You'll be seeing some of their new work soon! Honduras Team Yard Sale The Honduras Mission Team is collecting yard sale items for a fundraiser on May 10. As you re doing your spring cleaning this season, consider donating that stuff to the fundraiser. Please bring yard sale-worthy items to the stage in Fellowship Hall. Stay tuned for details of the sale. New Adult Sunday School Class April 28 Beginning a 4-week study in the Parlor. The class will focus on living in our culture with a Biblical world view. Frozen Meals Available The Deacons have frozen meals available for shut ins, those with illness or any immediate need. Contact a Deacon if you need a meal.

5 Greetings Fellow travelers - March 7 Update from Bob and Patty Meredith Yesterday AM Patty s neurologist called to say that he had read / re-read the psychologist s FULL report on Patty s cognitive scores and has serious concerns and reservations about her pursuing DBS (brain surgery). The summary is: she would probably benefit from increased mobility from the DBS, BUT - at very high risk of it causing Parkinson s dementia! ARGH! (Really, what s the point of being able to dress yourself and move around with greater mobility if you don t know who you are or who we are?!?!) OK - so, God is still sovereign. I was tempted to think about a lot of what ifs and shoulda / coulda / why did we not stuff BUT, we can t go there. That is NOT where we are and we WILL move forward from here looking at the best options to safely increase Patty s mobility WITHOUT risking her thinker. The most likely next step will be a pump. Kinda like an insulin pump - it will deliver regular movement meds into Patty s system without having to go thru her digestive tract (she currently swallows all her meds) and this will give greater mobility with less risk of unwanted side effects. (Hallucinations, paranoia, etc) SO, that s where we are. We will see her neurologist a month from now and discuss any questions and the options going forward. God is STILL sovereign. His promises are still true. We will move forward with the best available options for Patty. Gratefully in Him, REAL Bob and REAL Patty. Can t Make it to Worship on Sunday Morning?? If you are unable to make it to FEPC for worship on Sunday morning, there are a couple of alternatives available so you don t miss out completely: WILO Radio broadcasts the service at 10:15 a.m. on these stations: 1570 AM or 96.9 FM The service is now being streamed at 10:15 at: Clintoncountydailynews.com The technical team is working on getting other options set up. We will let you know when those are available. If you have tried to experience worship via the TV in Fellowship Hall, recent reports indicated there were problems occurring there. We are working on getting those resolved.
