2 The Reformation of 1517 was the great work of God s grace as the Gospel of his grace began to be proclaimed in the world. Those called to lead -- Martin Luther, John Calvin and others -- knew it was not a work of grace and but of grace alone Sola Gratia. God alone saves first to last. God takes the first step and every step to bring salvation to those who were lost and without God in the world. The Reformer John Calvin points out that all is of grace in such full measure that: 1) it is God and not we who do the work of our salvation and 2) and yet it is we who will be crowned with a crown won by another.
