10 The Lord Will Provide Though troubles assail and dangers affright, Though friends should all fail and foes all unite, Yet one thing secures us whatever betide: The Scripture assures us, The Lord will provide. The birds without barn or storehouse are fed; From them let us learn to trust for our bread. His saints what is fitting shall ne er be denied, So long as it s written, The Lord will provide. We may like the ships by tempest be tossed On perilous deeps, but cannot be lost. Though Satan enrages the wind and the tide, The promise engages: The Lord will provide. 11 Wednesday Nights WOMEN S STUDY: Starting on January 23rd, the women will begin a new women's study with Jen Wilkin's None Like Him. This is a systematic theology study through the incommunicable attributes of God, which should promote a reverence for God. Calvin said wisdom is knowing God and ourselves. This study focuses on knowing who He is and who we are so that we know how to approach Him. Please contact Lisa if you are interested in purchasing a book. This is an open study so feel free to invite friends. We believe this would be good for the teenagers of the church to attend as well. The women will meet 2 Wednesdays a month, typically the 1st and the 3rd. MEN S FORUM: The men will usually meet on the 2nd Wednesday night of each month. This will be a time to wrestle with and be sharpened by one another in discussion of topics such as conscience, social justice, divorceremarriage, vocation, and ordinances. Below is the schedule for the forum. January 16: February 13: March 13: April 10: May 8: Law and Gospel Cross-Centered Life Theology of Work/Vocation Conscience Relationships THEOLOGY PRIMER: Finally, 4th Wednesday night of the month is going to be a "theology primer" hosted at the Goad home. This means we will be considering the primary questions and teachings for each doctrine (Scripture, God, angels, humanity, etc). This will be a college-level study of systematic theology. We will focus on one doctrine beginning with Scripture on Jan 30th and will focus on issues like canon, inerrancy, inspiration, and interpretation. It is open to anyone who wants to come; male-female, slavefree, Jew-Gentile, neighbor-friend, Cavalier-Hokie. Please come and feel free to invite someone.
