1 The Church of Ireland ~ Diocese of Clogher Founder s Day and Thinking Day Youth Organisations Service Sunday 25th February 2018 With many thanks to all the Section Leaders and Helpers, who give so much of their own time to running the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Senior Section, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers in our parish. Their work with the young people in our parish is very much appreciated and greatly valued. So to all of you, we extend a very big and very sincere Thank You!

A Guide is honest, reliable and can be trusted. A Scout is to be trusted. Lord, help us to carry out our promises to each other. A Guide is helpful and uses her time and abilities wisely. A Scout is loyal. Lord, help us to show respect and be faithful to our friends and families. A Guide faces challenges and learns from her experiences. A Scout is friendly and considerate. Lord, help us to be a good neighbour to all regardless of nationality, class or creed. A Guide is a good friend and a sister to all Guides. A Scout belongs to the world-wide family of Scouts. Lord, help us to respect the diversity within our Movements. A Guide is polite and considerate. A Scout has courage in all difficulties. Lord, help us to stand for what is right even though it may be demanding. A Guide respects all living things and takes care of the world around her. A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property. Lord, help us to be active in our society and to protect our environment. A Scout has self-respect and respect for others. Lord, help us to welcome the views of others even when they are different to our own. Renewal of Promises Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts renew their promises. Lenten Collect Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing that you have made and forgive the sins of all those who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may receive from you, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. 2 Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers. 3 Abram fell face down, and God said to him, 4 As for me, this is my covenant with you: you will be the father of many nations. 5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. 7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. 15 God also said to Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. 16 I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. Lord Jesus Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the story that Jesus told about two men building their houses on sand and rock. I want my house to be like the house built on the rock, that nothing can destroy. Jesus is described as a Rock in the Bible please help me to build my life upon him, to obey him and his teaching, so that my life won t be shattered by storms that come along. Lord Jesus

10 Brownie ( Jessica Kingston ) Help us, dear God, to love you day by day, to do our duty to you and to enjoy our play, to keep our Scout and Guide promise the best that we can, and to do our best always to help our neighbours. Lord Jesus Scout ( Ethan Smyth ) Heavenly Father, help us to remember that all good gifts come from you. We thank you that today we can be members of Scouts and Guides. Thank you for the new friendships we make, for the values we learn, and for the chance to develop new skills. Thank you also for our leaders, who work so very hard and give us encouragement. We ask that you would keep them strong and close to you, so that they may lead us wisely and faithfully in your service. Lord Jesus. Guide ( Annabelle Kingston ) Heavenly Father, we give you thanks today for those who founded the Scouts and the Guides. We remember and give thanks for the life and vision of Lord Baden-Powell and his sister, Agnes. We give thanks for all who have carried on the work of the Scout and Guide movements in the years since their foundation. May Scouts and Guides continue to go from strength to strength, and with your guidance and blessing, may they continue to enrich the lives of boys and girls here in Rossorry and around the world for many years to come. Celebrant:- Lord Jesus. And now let us join together in the prayer our Father taught us Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
