11 Blessing Of The Quilts P We gather today in the name of our compassionate Savior, to give thanks for women like the Biblical Dorcas who use their willing hands to give comfort and life s necessities to those in need. C We thank you, Father, for Dorcas of old and the women who follow in her footsteps, using their talent with needles and thread. P To you, Merciful Lord, we give thanks for all the faithful women who, alone in their homes or in small groups, cut and sew together the colorful scraps of fabric to form tops of spectacular patterns and hues. C Lord, we ask your blessings for these women as they create their labors of love. P Lord, Source of all Comfort, we express our gratitude for the caring women who gather in members homes and in church basements and fellowship halls to quilt, tie, and bind the comforters. C We thank you for the quilters and ask you to bind our hearts in love for the people these quilts will comfort in times of stress. P Father, we now dedicate this rainbow of quilts to the glory of God and ask that you shower blessings upon the people of many colors who will use them for warmth, for shelter, for luggage, for sustaining life. 16 Announcements Blessing of the Quilts Our quilters have been hard at work since January, making the 32 quilts being blessed today. They will be given to local ministries. Ladies Event ~ The Garden of Weedin life began in a garden. Today is the last day to buy your tickets! The event date is Saturday, May 21 at 1:00pm. All ladies and girls of our congregation are invited. We hope to see you there! Tickets are limited, so get yours ASAP! Humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. James 1:12b Christian books for India Missions, especially children s books. Please bring new or gently used books to the basket in the Narthex. Talk to Myrt if you have any questions. Mercy Smiles operates in India; running orphanages, educating the poor, establishing worship centers, and sponsoring national workers to share Christ with the lost. This is an especially difficult area for Christians to live out their faith. Baby wipes, diapers all sizes, Wal-Mart gift cards are being collected by LWML for the Michigan District Convention: Boyne Mountain July These items will be shared with ministries in Michigan and the LCMS Seminaries in Fort Wayne and St. Louis. Please bring items to the church by Sunday, July 24. See the bulletin board for more details or talk to Jacque Osborn. Books The Church Staff is sorting and organizing in preparation for all of the office changes coming up. The books that are in the current coffee room need to be moved. Book Club books will find a new home downstairs on the shelf, but all other books need to go. If you would like yours back that you donated, please take them during the next week.
