1 Palm Sunday Worship March 25, :30 a.m. Ou r Mission: Gro wing in Sp irit Living as D isciple s Se rving God s World Preparation for Worship Ride On! Ride On in Majesty by Henry H. Milman ( ) Ride on, ride on in majesty! Hark! All the tribes Hosanna cry; O Savior meek, pursue Thy road With palms and scattered garments strowed. Ride on, ride on in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die. O Christ, Thy triumphs now begin O er captive death and conquered sin. Ride on, ride on in majesty! The angel armies of the sky Look down with sad and wondering eyes To see the approaching Sacrifice. Ride on, ride on in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die. Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain. Then take, O Christ, Thy power and reign. We Gather in God s Name Prelude Ray Freeman, Organist Welcome and Announcements Passing of the Peace Leader: People: The peace of the Lord be with you. And also with you. Please stand if you are able.
2 Call to Worship Leader: People: Leader: People: Rejoice! Rejoice you sons of Zion, and shout for joy, you daughters of Jerusalem! Look and see, your king is coming to you. He comes triumphant and victorious, yet humble and riding on a donkey. The Lord will now save his people as a shepherd saves his flock from danger. Like precious stones in a crown, we will shine in God s own land. Processional #197 Hosanna, Loud Hosanna Prayer of Confession Gracious and Merciful God, we profess your Son, Jesus Christ, to be Lord of our lives, but there are areas of our lives that we do not eagerly submit to his lordship. We keep for ourselves our feelings and our judgments, afraid we might be called to forgive when we are not ready. We keep for ourselves our resources, unwilling to sacrifice. We keep for ourselves our personal faith, afraid we might be called to be the light of the world. We keep to ourselves our gifts and our talents, saying, Someone else could do it better, or I have served my turn. Loving God, confront us again with what the lordship of Jesus Christ must mean in our lives. Help us to let go of the parts of ourselves we withhold. Forgive and restore us, renew and inspire us, make us whole and holy. In Christ s name we pray, Amen. Assurance of Forgiveness One: People: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting unto everlasting. As far as the East is from the West, so far has God removed our transgression from us. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven. Thanks be to God. We Proclaim God s Word Children s Anthem Hosanna, Blessed is He Berry Children s Choir Children s Message Children of any age are invited to the front for a time of worship together. Play n Worship and Bridges will be announced following the message. See Guest Information on page 7 for details. 2
