1 A monthly publication of the Garden Community Church The Women s Ministry invited Ginger Millermon to come share with the Ladies at a Women s Brunch on September 29th. Almost 100 ladies came out to be encouraged through Ginger s testimony of God s faithfulness in her life. Ginger is a nationally recognized speaker, author, songwriter and recording artist. Ginger s testimony is chronicled in her books Grace Thus Far and Everything We Need: His Strength For Our Journey and are available in our church library. Each table was decorated in a fall theme by a table host. While all were a fall theme, each one had its own unique touches by the host. Brunch was served family style, thanks to the men who were willing to give up their Saturday morning to serve the ladies.

2 Once again we were blessed with a beautiful evening for the Annual All Church Picnic. The picnic was held at King Park on September 30th. The Evangelism/Discipleship committee arranged for several people to smoke pulled pork for sandwiches and provided ice cream for dessert, while everyone else brought different sides to enjoy. Looking around the park it was evident that all ages were enjoying the evening playing with friends or fellowshipping with one another.

3 Signs of our creative God changing the pages of the world around us is beginning to be evident. We who manage the Libraries, are also working with creativity to keep fresh new looks and reading options available to you, our readers. Recently we have made new purchases and have prepared the new books for your enjoyment. We will be introducing the new books on a rotation basis in the Adult Mini Library because of our limited space. Stop by each week to see what has been added. Here are some of the new reading recommendations for this month from the Adult Library... We have added nearly a dozen new Fiction books. Look for the "NEW" labels on these new additions. Two new DVD's have been added... I Can Only Imagine... complimenting the book which we also have by that title... and The Case for Christ. CHILDREN'S LIBRARY... Books have been added in all sections in the Children's Library. The Fall seasonal books have center stage currently in the picture book areas. We have added some series collections for our young adult readers and also new books are available for Teen readers. Space never allows for all the updates to be noted. Please stop by the Libraries and browse! God can use the thoughts of Christian authors to get His message to your heart and need. The Christian Education Team Leaders have begun the task of evaluating each of our ministries. We have spent considerable time working with our Wednesday night TAG ministry. There has been some adjustments made because of the number of children we are serving. Some exciting things are happening and children are eager to come. Important goals have been crafted to keep us on the cutting edge as we minister to our children on Wednesday evenings. We have also been working on some new and fresh looks in our Children's Sunday School rooms. We believe that clean and inviting environments enhance the learning curve. Do stop by the 2-5 year old classroom and see the freshness. The children's hall will be addressed soon to make it have a more appealing look for those parents and children who frequent this space. The Kindergarten - 2nd grade classroom will also be on our future updating plans. Julie Garber has been leading our small children - ages 2-2nd grade - in a time of Worship and Singing. What a delightful sound to hear these sweet little voices sing songs of praise! Watch for a Sunday morning debut in the very near future. Our next big Board task is an evaluation process of our Sunday School Ministry. We will be looking for key Objectives, Goals and and the necessary Action Steps to make it happen. Watch for our plans in the coming months ahead. These are important days for this Board and we covet your prayers!

4 November 10 & 11, 2018, Garden Community Church will host Victor Singh for the weekend. Victor has a compelling story. He was born in Luton, England. His father was a multimillionaire East Indian involved in international mergers and acquisitions. At a young age, Victor realized he had a knack for business and a love for sport. Victor s family moved to the United States at the end of his sophomore year of high school. In the Lord s providence, Victor met his wife Kim at the end of his third year of college and his entire world changed. Kim asked Victor in May 1985 to attend a church service with her. They both attended an evangelical church in their college town for the next six months and in December of 1985, both cried out to Jesus for mercy and received salvation as a free gift from the Lord. Victor s father became very hostile to Victor s new passion for Christ and also against Kim. In the heat of anger, he pushed Victor out of the family and said never to call him father again unless he recanted of his faith. With that, Victor was officially excommunicated from his family. The Lord brought Victor great comfort from His Holy Word then and to this day. Victor and Kim and were married on December 5, The Lord blessed them with four wonderful children and two beautiful granddaughters. As a young adult, Victor built a successful career in the restaurant industry before the Lord called him and Kim to cross-cultural missions in Over the last fifteen years, they have dedicated their lives to intentional church planting in persecuted areas of Central, West and East Asia utilizing innovative bi-vocational church planting strategies. Victor remarked, Seeing a new disciple made is great but seeing that disciple grow and plant a new church that is dependent on no one other than the Holy Spirit is terrific. Jesus Shall Reign Where'er the Sun by Isaac Watts, Jesus shall reign where'er the sun Does his successive journeys run, His kingdom stretch from shore to shore Till moons shall wax and wane no more. For Him shall endless prayer be made, And endless praises crown His head; His name, like sweet perfume, shall rise With ev'ry morning sacrifice. After many years on the field, Victor and Kim joined Avant Ministries in July 2017 as Global Business for Transformation Coordinator. His area of oversight encompasses helping Avant to pioneer new church planting fields through the bivocational missional strategies that he has employed over the last 15 years. In the next several months they will be mobilizing new teams in Turkey, Georgia, Greece, China, Iran, and Uzbekistan. They will also continue to train and mentor existing partners throughout the Central Asian region and now they re beginning the process of expanding bi-vocational church planting ministry into Southeast Asia. The lyrics in the sidebar remind me of what God is doing around the world! He is at work where er the sun shines calling to Himself great multitude that no one can count, from every nation, tribe, people and language.
