THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 4, 2018 FROM THE DESK OF.

In making God the priority of our lives, all falls properly into place. This is the core of the first reading and the Gospel.

To acquire that intimate knowledge and longing for God, should be the main focus of our lives. All that we say and do should reflect that desire.

This reflects our desire to love God and neighbor. May we always show this priority in our daily lives!

3 THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 4, 2018 FROM THE DESK OF...FATHER KALUZA MASS INTENTIONS November 6 November 11 The readings this week get at the heart of the matter: to love God above all else! In making God the priority of our lives, all falls properly into place. This is the core of the first reading and the Gospel. The response that Jesus offers is that when aware of this, we are not far from God s kingdom. That s where we all want to end up. To acquire that intimate knowledge and longing for God, should be the main focus of our lives. All that we say and do should reflect that desire. Of course, we must be able to live our lives in this world by working, providing for physical needs of food and shelter and caring for those around us. This reflects our desire to love God and neighbor. May we always show this priority in our daily lives! It is election season in our great land and we are blessed with the opportunity to exercise our right to participate in the governing process of our nation. Our Catholic faith instructs us to bring our faith to the public square and actively practice our faith. May we be a bright beacon of hope with our vote to show that God is the priority of our lives and may our vote reflect loving God above all else. We are inspired to think and act by the supernatural virtues of faith, hope and love acquired at baptism. Our Church has teachings and instruction regarding faith and morals and the priorities of our vote. May we keep these Christian values in mind as we exercise our duty to vote with a formed conscience: the right to life and the dignity of the human person, the intrinsically evil act of abortion, threats to our basic religious freedoms, the nature of marriage and family, the dignity of work and the rights of workers, the option for the poor and vulnerable, good stewardship of creation, care for immigrants, war and terrorism.
