The Origin f the Family Gd Himself purpsely and wisely frmed the family All families derive their name frm Gd the Father (Eph 3:14) Gd as creatr and designer is the Father f all He precedes all the families, clans, tribes, hmes, and natins f the earth. Each and every family n earth sustains an evident relatin n earth t Gd and every ther family n earth in histry and svereign determinatin (Acts 17:26). Families are nt relegated t Jude-Christian scieties nly literally all scieties in histry have had families built arund the universal relatinship between a man and a wman in sme frm f mutual respnsibility. Never has the prmiscuity f randm mating been a characteristic f human sciety, in any sciety, including thse practicing plygamy. The family was designed by Gd t accmplish Gd s purpses. The family is purpseful, shwing Gd s wisdm even the Savir came via the family channel (Mat 1). The family prvides necessary structure (Cl 3:18-21; Eph 5:22-29). The family serves as an agent fr functinality, cntrl, and instructin.

The Origin f the Family cntinued The family is ne f three institutins decreed by Gd fr man. The family was decreed and frmed by Gd befre the fall (Gen 2:18-25). Man required the cmpletin f a wman (Gen 2:18-20). Wman was frmed frm man (Gen 2:23). One man & ne wman frm an inseparable unin (Gen 2:24). The unin in marriage becmes unique & autnmus frm all ther relatinships (Gen 2:24). The unin f marriage is righteus befre Gd (Gen 2:25). The decrees as a result f the fall (Gen 3:17-19). Life will becme harsh, burdensme, difficult this was aimed predminately at the man as the prvider (Gen 3:17-18). All peple will grw ld and die (Gen 3:19). Peple will be besieged by Satan & evil this has ultimate fulfillment in Christ, but immediate in all (Gen 3:15). Wmen will have great pain & difficulty in childbirth (Gen 3:16). Wmen will be subjected by psitin r rle under the authrity and cntrl f a man (Gen 3:16).

The Origin f the Family cntinued Man s cnditin in sin The Rle f the family in relatin t the fall and sin Each persn is ruined in Sin we sin because we are sinners (Eph 2:1-3) Sin begins in a persn the minute they are brn (Ps 51:5) Our wrld is under the curse we are nt n neutral grund that is fair r balanced (Gen 3:17-18) Our wrld, cuntry, cities, neighbrhds, places f educatin, and churches are all under the effects f the fall (Rm 3:9) N amunt f educatin, philsphy, psychlgy, science, gvernment, r affluence will lift us frm the dilemma f the effects f sin (Jhn 3:1-7) Our hmes are places where sinners live The Christian is the nly persn wh can understand why we are and act the way we d, and flee under Gd s grace t the nly hpe and cure Jhn 8:36 must be cnstantly kept in mind as we study the hme! Gd created the family as ne f the primary institutins t curb the effects f sin!

The Origin f Family cntinued: Evil and destructive messages! Deceptive Philsphies Yur Hme / Family Every Frm f Evil Stealth gvernment encrachment int the family Rarity f true preaching & teaching! All avenues f wicked practice!

The Purpse f the Family There is n dubt that althugh the family was funded befre the fall, that it is intended t cntinue as Gd decreed, it was in svereignty rdained as a key essential t cmbat the effects f the fall. The family has three primary purpses: The prpagatin f the human race (Gen 1:28; 9:1). The prpagatin f the human races shws the mniscience f Gd in His pre-plan fr the family. Withut cntinued prpagatin the human race wuld becme extinct. Just as Gd frerdained the elect befre the fundatin f the wrld (1 Pet 1:20; Eph 1:4), He als rdained the vessels whereby thse elect wuld be brn, and their circumstances. T teach and lead the family t knw, fear, and glrify Gd (Duet 6:1-25; Prv 1:8; Eph 6:1-4). This aspect f parenting must wrk in direct actin t cunter the curse (Rm 1:18-3:21), Satan wh is the prince f this wrld (Eph 2:2), and man s natural cnditin in sin which is truth suppressin (Rm 1:18). T serve as an asis t prmte truth, righteusness, and inslate frm the effects f the fall (Prv 24:3-4). As mankind will naturally shun the

The Purpse f the Family cntinued things f Gd (Jhn 3:19), it is imperative that parents raise their children a manner t cunter their natural prpensity. Other general purpses f the family: The hme as an asis shuld be a sanctuary frm the rigrs f the sinful wrld. A place f peace, harmny, justice, and righteusness. The husband and father is the hme ruler (1 Tim 3:4-5), sets the standards, and als leads by example (1 Cr 11:3; Eph 5:23). The husband and father must cnduct his life and relatinships with cmmitment t Gd, and t his wife, and family as pleases the Lrd (Jhn 13:15; Phil 3:17; 2 Thess 3:9; Tit 2:7). The respnsibility extends t the wife and mther as the principal hmemaker, and delegated leader f the children (Prv 1:8; 31:26; Tit 2:5 ). The mther will nrmally spend mre time with the children, and has a special Gd given gift t exercise in caring fr them (1 Thess 2:7). It is thrugh the parents that children have an pprtunity t be instructed in Gd and ultimately led t knw Gd. Parents are given delegated authrity by Gd t gvern and t guide the children. Parents d nt wn their children. The relatinship is temprary, nt eternal. It is a great stewardship (Ps 127:3).

The Purpse f the Family cntinued The hme is the ne place a man can rule and exercise dminate cntrl ver the envirnment. Gd hlds man accuntable fr that envirnment (1 Tim 3:4-5). Als as an asis, the Christian hme is a special place where the grace, gdness, glry, and greatness f Gd shuld be fund. The Christian hme must nt be merely a place t hang ut, watch TV, sleep, and find smething t eat. The Christian hme must be mdeled after the Scriptures (Deut 6; Prv 31; Eph 6). In the hme where Gd is nt central, nt beyed, and nt taught by Wrd and example, the ramificatins are unequivcally and incnceivably bad (Judges 2:10-11; Ex 34:7). The parents respnsibility is nt just t establish Gdly principles and maintain righteus standards (althugh this is part f the develpment f the asis), but t trust the Lrd, and seek Him diligently, depending n Him t establish and keep the hme (Ps 127:1; Jhn 15:5). Parents cannt save their children. Gd must d the saving. Their respnsibility is t establish the atmsphere in grace, guard the territry and maintain the place where Gd can be called upn t exercise Himself t bless, t benefit, t be gracius, and merciful (Gen 18:19).

The Purpse f the Family cntinued The husband and father f the hme as leader, and the wife and mther as designated leader must cnstantly be cgnizant that Satan is seeking t destry their hme. He will use any device, any methd, any means t destry it (1 Pet 5:8; Eph 6:12). The Hme in relatin t Gd s Wisdm Prv 24:3 By wisdm a huse is built Wisdm in Hebrew means: 1. farsightedness a capacity fr judgment (ie. Discernment between right and wrng) 2. skillful (ie. as in any art) 3. pssessin and use f knwledge 4. the adaptatin f what we knw t what we d. Girdlestne, Synnyms f the Old Testament, Eerdmans, p.74 Huse in Hebrew is a wrd picture fr: 1. family Ps 68:6 2. hme Ps 68:12 3. husehld Prverbs 31:15, 21, 27

Ability t discern between ptins 3. Ability t chse wrds and actins carefully filled in Hebrew wrd means cnsecrated, cnfirmed, accmplished: 1. cmpleted Gen 29:21 2. required Gen 50:3 3. passed Ex 7:25 4. gratified Ex 15:9 with all precius and pleasant riches precius in Hebrew means hnred, magnificent, rare pleasant in Hebrew means pleasurable riches in Hebrew means enugh substance, wealth, abundance, sufficiency

The Hme in relatin t Gd s Wisdm cntinued Putting it tgether. By Gd s wisdm (biblical skillful farsightedness and discernment) a Christian hme is fashined. And by using Gd s reasning it is equipped, and stable in the midst f a fallen wrld. And by Gdly discernment, it is cnsecrated with a rare abundance f the mst precius wnderful substance f Gd s jy (His presence and special blessing) that is beynd inestimable value.
