This term will be packed of exciting things and by next week I will make sure we have sent out a What s on this term document. I know many of you find this a useful summary of things that will happen. The core Christian value we are focusing on this term is Joy. The teachers worked with our school s diocesan adviser, Richard Wharton to create the following definition of Joy. Joy in the Christian tradition lies in the belief that God will never abandon His people no much they crush His hopes for them. This is a thread that runs through the entire Bible and is a frequent refrain in the Psalms: Let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy (Psalm 5:11). For Christians this joyous hope is fulfilled in the resurrection, which demonstrates that evil can never ultimately triumph over love. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells his followers that I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. (16:22) CARETAKER On your return from the Easter Holidays you may have seen a new face around school. We would like to introduce Mr Stokes who is our new school caretaker. Mr Stokes and Mr Palmer have been working closely over the holidays. Mr Palmer will be leaving us on Friday 22nd April after 8 years of looking after the school. We hope you will join us is in wishing him all the best in his retirement. Christian joy is more than a vague optimism that things are getting better all the time ; it is a deep conviction that no matter how bleak things become, despair is never the final word. Christian joy can never be an excuse for inactivity because it is all in God s hands ; we are called by God s hope in us to play our part in bringing joy to others. At the same time, we must be joyful in the blessings we have received ourselves. Ultimately, joy is an attitude of mind that we develop through faith in God and each other. On our way to the hospital we walked past where J M Barrie (The person who wrote Peter Pan) used to live. When we got to GOSH we presented the cheque to Charlie, who works at the fundraising office.

2 GOING TO GOSH (Great Ormond Street) We went to London to present a huge cheque for GOSH because we had raised 1,400 doing our musical of Peter Pan. Once we were in London we slowly made our way towards the GOSH offices. Whilst we were there we got into our musical costumes. On our way to the hospital we walked past where J M Barrie (The person who wrote Peter Pan) used to live. When we got to GOSH we presented the cheque to Charlie, who works at the fundraising office. We took loads of pictures next to the statue of Peter Pan. It was an amazing day and I wish we could go again. By Alex Renyard BEOWULF One ordinary morning, in the middle of English Miss Robus came into the room and gasped in shock.. In the hall there had been a devastating disaster, there had been a crime! We grabbed our books and pencils and ran to the CRIME SCENE!! We were speechless! What we saw was devastating. Table and chairs flipped over, drops of bright red blood everywhere on the floor. There were huge puffy paw prints everywhere and big black arrows scattered around the hall. On the floor was a huge black and red shield and a golden sword. Later we found out that the owner of the hall had been at the scene of crime. We wrote down lots of questions to interview him and find out about what had happened. National Autistic Society Support Group Meeting, Eastleigh Just a reminder.. The National Autistic Society, South Hampshire Branch's next support group meeting (and AGM) is on Monday 18 April, 7.30-9.

Their guest is Dr Beatriz López, Associate Head for Innovation, Department of Psychology, University of Portsmouth, who will speak about Predictors of outcomes in adulthood for children with autism.

She is also the founder of the Autism Centre for Employment (ACE) which has just been awarded The National Autistic Society's 2016 Autism Professionals Award for Outstanding Adult Services.

Beatriz is the founder of the Autism Research Network, a network aimed at bringing together academics, practitioners and people with autism and their families. There will be time at the meeting to have a chat and to browse the branch's If anyone has any ties they no longer need we would love to restock our supply ready for the Tie- Tying practice later in the term. Thank you Shirley Jonas Dear Parents, SCHOOL LUNCHES REMINDER Please can you be aware that the price of a hot school dinner has now increased to 2.10 per day. When sending lunch money into school can you please make sure that it does not come in loose but in an envelope clearly labelled with your child's name and class. Thank you. I am writing to invite you and your little Warriors to join us at a fun and exciting Warrior themed obstacle course coming to The New Forest next month! Ultm8 Warrior is a challenge like no other for ages 4-13yrs. Each child battles through a 1km course of challenging obstacles such as muddy crawls, tunnels, spider s webs & monkey bars. There are also Warrior themed obstacles such as a Roman shield run and taking on Thor! Children can run in either competitive heats (to win prizes) or just for fun in all cases children will receive a quality Ultm8 Warrior Year of The Aztec medal! Our two disabled spaces in front of the school are strictly for disabled badge holders. Please do not use these spaces for dropping off your children in the morning and after school. When bringing your children to school on their bikes please can you ensure children dismount and walk their bikes to the racks once on the school site. ROMSEY ROTARY RELAY RUN A number of staff from school are taking part in the Romsey Relay Run at Broadlands Estate this Sunday at 10am in aid of Muscular Dystrophy. If you have any time to spare it would be lovely to see you there supporting us or even joining in the fun. We still need a couple of adults to join our team so if you can run/walk 2 miles on Sunday morning, please contact Fiona Hoggarth at: f.hoggarth@rownhams.hants.sch.uk before Sunday to sign up.
