We want to give a BIG thank you to...all the volunteers who help with the decorating of the sanctuary and church facility inside and out...everyone who gave monetarily to purchase items for the Christmas Food Baskets and; volunteers that help with the assembly and distribution of the baskets...all those who contributed to all the other special events that were held throughout the year. You gave generously to the School Supply Drive, the Trunk or Treat, for the hurricane and flood victims, the new coat drive, and many others to our Board Members, Worship Choir, Praise Team, and our Audio and Visual Team...and thank you for supporting First Baptist Church through your weekly Tithes and Offering you. By your generosity we are able to continue the Lord s work.

3 Y Psalm 90:17- "May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us" As we begin a new year, we give thanks to the Lord our God for the growth this past year in the youth program. December has gone by in a flurry of activities. Youth went caroling at several local nursing homes. Christmas party with 13 in attendance. Fellowship and fun were in abundance. Minute to win it games had our youth competing for candy and prizes. Candy Cane Hook-Em and the Human Christmas Tree race are a must try holiday party games. How many marshmallows can you suck up with a straw in under a minute? It s a lot harder than it looks! Thanks you Savannah for being our party planner. Tis the season of giving and our youth were challenged to perform a random act of kindness in the you ve been socked activity. They also assisted the Deacons in preparing holiday food baskets for those in need. In January we will be helping the Methodist with the Backpack Food Program and planning a winter ski trip. Winterjam is January 5th, 2018 at Charleston Civic Center. Doors open at 6:00pm and we will be leaving by 3:00pm. Please let Lori or Pastor Scott know if you plan to attend. New permission and medical forms are needed in 2018 for traveling and activities. Please continue to pray for our youth as our program grows and we reach more teens and youth. 4 Scott Hamby What is Your Legacy? At the end of each year people talk, write and share about the previous year. Topics of what did not happen, but should have or what did happen, but was unexpected. Conversations are plentiful of annual reviews. In fact, you picked up this newsletter, fully expecting the Pastor to address the same. And so I will, yet with a little different perspective. In December 2017, Christendom lost a warrior General with the death of Dr. R.C. Sproul. He was a key player in the battle for doctrinal purity in America for over thirty years. His memorial service was one spiritual giant after another, standing to proclaim the significant value and influence Dr. Sproul had on American spirituality. His influence will undoubtedly impact Christianity for many decades to come and maybe extend into the coming century. While we must exercise moderation as we give accolades to any man or woman, because God deserves all the glory for His work through humanity, yet it is appropriate to recognize the obedience of a brother or sister in Christ in their work for the Kingdom. This should cause us to also examine our own contributions to the Kingdom. Here is where we get to reflect on We must ask ourselves the difficult questions and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the true answers to us. Are we notably deeper in our relationship with Jesus now, than last year? Are we more obedient now, than a year ago? Are we more habitually meeting with God in our prayer closet than before? Are we serving and ministering to His body more sacrificially than this time last year? Are we reflecting God s glory into the community more than ever before? Certainly, there many other personal evaluation questions that are also important, yet the honest examination of ourselves before God sets the standard for everything else. What would be your legacy should you not see the end of 2018? Pause in this moment and petition your precious Savior for clarity of priority and resolution to be more in Him than ever before. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 Pastor Scott
