This is our annual opportunity to reflect on our life of concretely witnessing to our faith though our generous engagement in the life of our parish and diocese. We ask ourselves: How are we engaging? How can we do more? Our parish has many opportunities for ministry in which parishioners can be involved. On our website, there are videos showcasing some of these ministries. In the Vestibule of the church, there is a sheet with the list of the many groups and ministries of the parish. All are invited to prayerfully consider if the Lord is calling us to deeper engagement. This also includes our financial contributions to the parish and diocese (N.B. the ACA will be taken up at the end of September). Are we being called to increase our financial support of our church? Special Intention On this weekend, when we rest from our usual labors, loving Father, we pray for all who shoulder the tasks of human labor in the marketplace, in factories and offices, in the professions, and in family living. We thank you, Lord, for the gift and opportunity of work; may our efforts always be pure of heart, for the good of others and the glory of your name. We lift up to you all who long for just employment and those who work to defend the rights and needs of workers everywhere. May those of us who are now retired always remember that we still make a valuable contribution to our Church and our world by our prayers and deeds of charity. May our working and our resting all give praise to you until the day we share together in eternal rest with all our departed in your Kingdom as you live and reign Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. Life and Family Issues: Every marriage matters, because every marriage comes from the hand of God. God brings a man and a woman together to love and support each other. Their love becomes visible in their treatment of each other and in their acts of generous service. Marriage Tip: Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me. Children are God s gift and loving them is a way to serve the Lord. Receive them and show them Christ s love. Marriage Encounter: Spend a weekend together away from the distractions of life learning how to make a good marriage great Help for Families with Same Sex Attraction Issues: Do you have a loved one experiencing same sex attraction? Do you want to be loving to him/her but want to stay faithful to the Church truth about sexuality and marriage? Fidelity to promises is a true masterpiece of humanity! No loving relationship no friendship, no form of love, no happiness in the common good arrives at the height of our desire and hope without this miracle of the soul.
