Myers, Moderator Clerk s Report Ruling Elder Joe Shane, Clerk of Session Declaration of a Quorum Minutes of this meeting to be approved by the Session at its next Stated Meeting Clerk s Report Committee / Group Reports Adjournment with Prayer

PASTOR'S REPORT On August 1, 2014, I arrived as your part-time, temporary Pastor. I was hired to lead worship, moderate the Session, and visit in hospitals when available. At the same time I am continuing my full-time job as chaplain at Homeland Hospice. In September, I began a 12-week series of sermons on the Ten Commandments. Preaching on these well-known texts proved to be more challenging than I expected, but I gained new insight and a new sense of how these commandments speak to us in the 21st century. Based on comments from parishioners, this series was well-received. During Advent, we continued the tradition of bell ringing, and in Christmas we celebrated "Star Gift Sunday." Both of these First Presbyterian Church (FPC) traditions were new to me, and I enjoyed them immensely. The Christmas Eve services were well-attended and inspiring. The organ/piano concert before worship, and the choir during the service, greatly enhanced the joyful mood of the occasion. During my tenure, the Session has met regularly. We have had lively discussions as we have conducted the business of the church. We are working now on re-establishing committees that will make ministry more effective and efficient at FPC. Recently we received new members into our congregation and have reached out to others to come or to return to worship. We also minister to those who are unable to come to church. One particular example of this was on World Communion Sunday. On that day, Elders and Deacons took communion to our shut-ins. And that was so successful that the Session decided to make it a quarterly event. I am enjoying my time at FPC. You are a warm and welcoming congregation. This will be a most appealing church for a new Pastor. God has great things in store for you and is preparing new Pastoral leadership for you. I thank you for all that you do and have done to contribute to the mission and ministry of this church. Let us continue to keep the Pastor Nominating Committee in our prayers. Yours in Christ, The Reverend Anne K. Myers

DIRECTOR OF EDUCATIONAL MINISTRY REPORT The Story Continues In 2014, First Presbyterian Church continued in serving the congregation, the Carlisle community and the world. I am honored and privileged to be a part of this church s story. One of the biggest changes for me and the church was working with a variety of interims, supply pastors, temporary worship leaders, and others, as the congregation prepared their Mission Study and to call a Pastor Nominating Committee. The congregation and I were blessed in the latter part of the year when Rev. Anne Myers accepted the position of permanent supply pastor. Sunday is obviously the time for Sunday School. Our classes are diverse for adults and the children. The children are using the PC (USA) Feasting on the Word curriculum, while the adults have used a variety of resources to study a wide range of topics. Thanks to all who taught and attended these classes. It was a wonderful year for our church as eight of our youth were confirmed into membership. Leading this group, especially in worship leadership, continues to be a great joy for me, In worship, we can all see the education of the children as they come forward to hear the children s message of the week. Each child is invited to delve deeper into the story through Children s Church for the older ones, and a nursery story for the younger group. I thank all the parents, grandparents, and teachers who make this ministry possible. Christian Education ministry does not happen only on Sunday. Our church participated in a community Vacation Bible School, which is a cooperative effort of First and Second Presbyterian Churches. I did not forget the toddlers as First Church held its annual Toddler Time for three weeks in the summer. This program continues to help the youngest members of our church feel at home in the building. For many of the children it is their first introduction to classroom learning. This year I was able to get a better appreciation for Camp Krislund, as the youth and I not only attended the Presbytery-wide event, Rock the Camp, on the weekend of Good Friday, but I was able to serve as a chaplain for a week during the summer camp. I enjoyed it so much, I have already volunteered for a week of chaplaincy in 2015! With all the new changes, I also had added responsibilities in 2014: I visited more of our hospitalized and home-bound members than ever; I did more grief visitations and funerals this year than ever before; I preached a variety of times; and I continued to lead our prayer community in its mission, our book club, and to attend a variety of other committee meetings was filled with many challenges and difficulties for me, but I look forward to 2015 for new growth and changes, continuing to live and learn together as God s children; listening for the Spirit to lead; and praying for the courage to follow. Debby Madden Director of Educational Ministry

CLERK OF SESSION REPORT The Session of First Presbyterian (FP) Church in Carlisle, Pennsylvania consisted of 15 Ruling Elders during 2014: Ann Gottlieb, J.J. Patterson, Michael Gogoj, Sylvia Thompson, Bruce Mulvey, Megan Crum, Deborah Sweaney, Charlie Thompson, Jarl Uilkema, Lynne Hofferica, Kay Hock, Richard Tritt, Laura Crim, and Brad Martin. Joe Shane served as Clerk of Session. Twelve Stated Meetings of Session were held in An additional meeting was held on January 5, 2014 to approve the annual budget. Three Special Meetings of the Congregation were held following Worship services in First, on March 30, the congregation approved a Nominating Committee. Second, on July 13, a Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) was elected. Third and finally, on November 30, new Elders and Deacons were nominated and approved. The Annual Meeting of the Congregation was held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 after Worship. This annual Clerk s report highlights some key features of our ongoing service in the name of Christ our Lord and Savior during this past year. Much of our time, talents, and energies, among the church leadership and the congregation as a whole, during the past year were devoted to maintaining the mission of First Presbyterian Church during often trying times since the retirement of Reverend Jon Black. Although many relationships were strained, we were indeed blessed to enter the Advent season and to leave 2014 with abiding peace and hope. We are particularly grateful for the support of the Carlisle Presbytery, for the steadfastness of the First Presbyterian staff, and for Reverend Anne Myers ministry with us. As the waters calm, we are reminded that First Presbyterian is indeed God s house and that our worship, fellowship, and mission in the world will prevail and continue. Debby Madden, Director of Educational Ministry, is to be commended for noteworthy contributions to FP during In addition to helping maintain the Christian Education program, she worked more closely with Elders, Deacons, and the associated committees to ensure that routines were maintained and deadlines were met. Similarly, Avis Allen, administrative assistant, provided enormous clerical support in responding to more requests than in years past. Choir Director, Mrs. Susan Shuey, and Organist, Mr. Arthur Thompson, continue to enliven Worship with their respective music ministries. We also recognize the contributions of Arthur ( Jack ) Sprecher, Sexton, to the daily operations of our church. This past year also marks the retirement of Dr. Harold Kretzing as Treasurer and the introduction of Mr. Bruce Ashbaugh as his successor. The PNC that was formed to search for a new called Pastor includes Trudy Bailey, Nancy Jacoby, John Martin, Jennifer Patterson, Dennis Rydberg, Tom Sheperd, Heather Thompson, Harold Kretzing and Peg Owen. With the Committee on Ministry of the Carlisle Presbytery s approval, they have been meeting on a weekly basis to review applicants and to arrange interviews. We applaud their dedication and look forward to their recommendation in As we prepare the way for our new called Pastor, note that our Presbyterian tradition requires broad involvement of officers and congregation members in all aspects of church life. As we enter 2015, consider how your time, talents, and treasure might further

contribute to our witnessing for Jesus Christ. A brief description of each Session committee is given below and also refer to more detailed committee reports as well as those from the Deacons. The Christian Education committee, co-chaired by Lynn Hofferica and Debby Madden, helps to organize Sunday School and confirmation curriculum, youth mission trips, Worship services that involve our youth, etc. Christian education consistently ranks high on our list of priorities and more participation in the committee is always welcome. Worship consistently ranks as the highest priority of the First Presbyterian congregation and we are grateful for the committee leadership that Sylvia Thompson, Michael Gogoj, and Richard Tritt have provided in This is certainly one of the more labor-intensive committees that arranges Communion, ushers, readers, special services, etc. Given the historic nature of our building, the Properties committee led by Jarl Uilkema is responsible for maintaining building infrastructure and for identifying and prioritizing repairs. We have a local engineering firm that works with us, but it is useful to have a Properties team. Bruce Mulvey chairs the Stewardship and Finance committee that helps to maintain our financial records along with the Treasurer and accountant, Mr. David Madden. The committee also prepares the annual budget that is presented at the Annual Meeting of the Congregation. The Safety and Security committee ensures that our policies and procedures for child protection, sexual misconduct, and facilities usage comply with state and federal law, requirements from our insurance company, and directives from the Carlisle Presbytery and the PC(USA). Elder Ann Gottlieb has made enormous progress in all areas. The Human Resources committee performs staff evaluations, revises job descriptions, and serves in a liaison role between staff, officers, and the First Presbyterian congregation. Laura Crim and Kay Hock co-chaired this committee in 2014 and this work is particularly vital as we look forward to welcoming a new Pastor. Parish Life helps to schedule Fellowship time following worship and plans special events to celebrate milestones and achievements in our congregation. Megan Crum has led this committee and has greatly benefitted from Peg Owen s years of service. Mission and Interpretation helps to determine how First Presbyterian donates funds and time to local, regional, and worldwide missions. Project Share, Carlisle C.A.R.E.S., and the Buck-a-Book are only a small sample of these missions. Deborah Sweaney has led this committee in Finally, Membership and Outreach maintains the church rolls and recommends activities to invite new worshipers to First. Charlie Thompson is the current chair of this committee. The combined efforts of the First Presbyterian staff, Deacons, Session, and numerous behind the scenes volunteers make the life and vitality of our church possible. We look forward with great joy as we welcome new officers in January, a new called Pastor, and additional involvement of congregation members.

Even though the congregation changes with time, the mission is ongoing and eternal. Two members of First, David and Andrea McPherson, were given a Letter of Transfer to Paxton Presbyterian Church. We thanked the Gulotta family for their years of dedication to First and to Carlisle as they relocated to Easton, Pennsylvania. Eight confirmands were examined and accepted into membership: Rebert Thompson, MacKenzie Ellis, Grace Patterson, Jenna Fetter, Julia Gottlieb, Connor Madison, Mary Jane Thompson, and Delany Crim. Mr. Richard Line, a former member of First Presbyterian, was reinstated as a member in Four additional new members were received as well: Norman J. Uber, Margaret J. Lydic, Peggy Meachy, and William Meachy. Our congregation was saddened by the passing of five members in 2014: Dorothy Starry (February 25), Bob Yeager (February 28), Leisa Heineman (June 14), Zella Smith (July 28), and Howard Phillips (September 19). The Clerk deeply appreciates the efforts of the FP staff, Session, and Congregation as we continue on into 2015 as servants of and witnesses to the encompassing love of Jesus Christ. Respectfully submitted, Joseph W. Shane Clerk of Session First Presbyterian Church Carlisle, Pennsylvania

WORSHIP COMMITTEE The First Presbyterian Church continued its long and rich custom of traditional worship services, even in the midst of pastoral transition. During 2014, the Church experienced the pastoral leadership of Reverend Rebecca Kiser, Reverend Steven Fleming, and, most recently, Reverend Anne Myers, who continues to lead the congregation in worship at the present time. Several substitute pastors, as well as Debby Madden, have preached on intermittent Sundays throughout the year. While the Congregation has felt deeply the absence of a permanent pastor, the members of First Presbyterian Church continue to share the strength and meaning derived from the Scripture and music which comprise our worship services. The First Presbyterian Church maintains a rich music program led by Susan Shuey, choir director, and Art Thompson, organist. We are grateful for their talents, those of our dedicated choir members, and those of all of the guest musicians and vocalists who perform or sing during our services. The Worship Committee continues to oversee the maintenance and repair of the organ and piano, and will explore major organ maintenance that will likely occur in Children s Education remains an equally vital component of our worship services, and Debby Madden remains an integral part of our Church. We are grateful for her dedication to the Church s youth as well as her continued commitment to providing a consistently meaningful worship experience. The Worship Committee continues to meet regularly to plan and oversee all activities related to worship. This year, the Committee addressed key projects, including the revision of the Wedding Guidelines for Members and Non-Members, as well as a restructuring of Communion preparation and serving. We appreciate the work of the numerous individuals who serve in worship by ushering, serving Communion, reading Scripture, and recording the services. The current chairpersons of the Committee appreciate the work of their predecessor, Richard Tritt, as well as the members who comprise the Committee, including Nancy Jacoby, Elizabeth Martin, Peggy McKeehen, Art Thompson, and Debby Madden. These individuals work diligently to ensure that services run smoothly and seamlessly by overseeing preparation of the Lord s Supper as well as the decoration of the sanctuary for special seasons and events (e.g., Hanging of the Greens). Attendance in 2014, by month, is as follows: Month Total Attendance Average Attendance Notes January February March Sundays April May June July August Sundays September October November Sundays December Not including Christmas Eve Christmas Eve Service 223

The Worship Committee respectfully submits this report and looks forward to another fulfilling year. Respectfully Submitted, Sylvia Thompson and Michael Gogoj, Co-Chairs Nancy Jacoby, Member Elizabeth Martin, Member Peggy McKeehan, Member Art Thompson, Member Debby Madden, Member

PARISH LIFE COMMITTEE The Parish Life Committee had a busy 2014! Serving on the committee were Peggy McKeehen, Peg and Jack Owen, Kathy and Bruce Mulvey, Katie Crum, and all church members and friends who contributed and helped serve fellowship. We tried a new idea this year by celebrating monthly birthdays at a Sunday fellowship time each month. Members who celebrate their birthday during that month enjoy cake and fellowship during the gathering time, and bring a present for the Parish Life kitchen. Some future ideas include juice, cookies, and crackers. Please remember that we are a peanut-free church. Special thanks to Peggy McKeehen for the delicious cakes contributed each month. These gifts enable the committee to supply fellowship time even when no one signs up to host the hour. The committee needs hosts for almost every Sunday this year, so please sign up in the back of the fellowship room, where a sign-up sheet is always posted on the magnetic board beside the elevator. Parish Life hosted a Valentine s Tea on Feb 16 th ; the Sunrise Service breakfast at Meeting House Springs Cemetery on April 20 th ; the Church Picnic at North Middleton's Village Park on August 24 th ; and the Hanging of the Greens Luncheon on November 30 th. Parish Life worked together with the Deacons to provide refreshments for the Mission Study Report Sunday; Officer training; and for the celebration recognizing Harold Kretzing's years of service as Treasurer. Megan Crum Chair

MEMBERSHIP AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE By necessity, the emphasis this year in this reactivated committee was in reaching out internally to our own members in a period with an unusual amount of change in the pulpit. In the end, while we have lost some longtime members due to relocations, we are pleased to report that we came through this transition year largely intact as a church family. That is thanks in no small part to the efforts of Rev. Myers, who has visited our congregants whenever possible; Debbie Madden and Avis Allen, for keeping a careful ear to our congregants concerns; and Elders Joe Shane, Bruce Mulvey and Deborah Sweaney, all of whom put considerable time into member-to-member outreach. As the year closed, we were pleased to add four new members to our ranks Bill and Peggy Meashey, and Norman Uber and Margaret Lydic our first Inquirers class since Rev. Black s retirement. Thanks to Deborah Sweaney s postcard initiative, our 2014 Christmas Eve services drew the largest combined audience we ve seen in several years. Deborah, with Avis s help, also oversaw a nice update to the church s website. With the installation of our next permanent pastor anticipated in 2015, we hope we are on the cusp of our next growth wave. The committee promises to make sure our congregation is well-represented to all new residents, incoming U.S. Army War College and Dickinson College students, in our local media, and on-line. But, our best ambassadors will always be each other. Here s how you can help -- just by being you! In 2015, let s individually make a covenant to practice the quiet evangelism that can come from inviting a new neighbor, co-worker or friend to see what First Presbyterian has to offer. Charlie Thompson, chair

NOMINATING COMMITTEE The 2014 Nominating Committee consisted of: J.J. Patterson (elder / chairman) Dr. Richard Sommers (member-at-large) Nancy Jacoby (member-at-large) Bill Gottlieb (member-at-large) Kathy Mulvey (deacon) It was a busy year in the life of First Presbyterian Church (FPC), Carlisle, and the Nominating Committee was honored to be a part of that activity. In addition to the regular nomination of church officers, which in 2014 included a total of six elders and six deacons (inclusive of unexpired terms), the committee also presented a slate of nominees for the Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC), whose nine members are currently engaged in the search for the next called pastor of FPC. On behalf of your Nominating Committee, we are honored to have had the opportunity to serve the mission of FPC, and are grateful to the congregation for its support and the Holy Spirit for its aid in our discernment. Respectfully submitted, J.J. Patterson

HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEE The Human Resources Committee has spent the year updating all job descriptions for the church staff. The job description of Pastor was clarified, approved and given to the Pastor Nominating Committee. A new nursery worker was hired. All church employees were updated as to the church s sexual abuse and child protection policy. All employees have signed their acknowledgement of these policies. Laura Crim, Chairperson

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE The Sunday School program at First Presbyterian Church continues to grow and be nurtured by the children and adults, who faithfully attend and teach throughout the year. With gratitude and God s blessings, we thank Barbara Crum, Bob Davis, RuthAnn Shoenfelt, and Barbara Allen, along with Matt and Megan Crum, Joe Shane and Jen Patterson for their work with our children, from tots to high school age. First Presbyterian continues to use the Feasting on the Word and the Story for Little Ones curricula. The adult education classes were blessed with the leadership of Debby Madden and a variety of church members. Adult Sunday School subjects ranged from book discussions to current event topics to mission trip presentations. Christian Education for the younger children continues during our church worship service. The preschool set meets with Barbara Crum and RuthAnn Shoenfelt following the sermon. They hear a version of the weekly Scripture story and complete a coloring page. After participating in the early sections of worship, the kindergarten through third graders continue to learn about worship through doing as they gather as a smaller congregation in Children s Church. These children hear the same scripture as the adults; they pray, sing, and offer their joys and concerns to God. With resources and guidance from Debby, the leadership of this group rotates among the parents and grandparents of the children and we thank each of them. In 2014, the following educational events also occurred: + Our 6 12 th graders attended a weekly Bible study, June through August. + Toddler Time was held weekly for 2-1/2 year olds through Pre-K, August. + Bob Davis hosted an annual Seder Meal, Palm Sunday. + Our Super Kids programs were popular events that allow our children and youth to enjoy a fun fellowship time centered around Valentine s Day, Halloween, Easter and Christmas. + Our youth attended the Krislund Rock the Camp program, Good Friday Weekend. + First and Second Presbyterian offered Vacation Bible School at the Second Presbyterian church. We thank our volunteers and appreciate the donations offered for this important part of our children s summer. + Krislund hosted First Presbyterian members for Grandparents Camp and regular summer camp. + Eight youth attended and completed requirements for Presbyterian Confirmation. They also performed a worship service on Mother s Day. Congratulations and Welcome to Delaney Crim, MacKenzie Ellis, Jenna Fetter, Julia Gottleib, Connor Madison, Grace Patterson, Jane Thompson and Rebert Thompson!

On Christmas Eve and Good Friday, our age groups combined and invited the community to worship with them during services specifically designed for children, to learn and experience Christmas and Easter worship. These services are led by Debby Madden. It would be a disservice to our Christian Education program to suggest that our congregation only learns on Sundays. The Bible is studied at Presbyterian Women meetings and at Men s Breakfasts. Prayer Community, fellowship time, and every time and place we meet, God is teaching us how to be the family of First Presbyterian Church. Lynne Hofferica Chair, Christian Education Committee

SAFETY AND SECURITY COMMITTEE This Committee is responsible for identifying safety and security concerns and developing a comprehensive risk management program that will integrate safety and security measures without impacting the ministry of the Church was a very busy year for this Committee, as it worked to implement the features of our Child Protection Policy & Procedures and created other necessary policies. Specifically, the Committee: contracted with Single Source, a criminal background clearance company, as recommended by our insurance company; created the Volunteer Application and Release Form used for obtaining information required for background clearances; mailed these forms to more than 65 members who have volunteered with children and/or youth; obtained background clearances on 34 members/employees, enabling them to work with our children and youth; developed the Facilities Use Policy and related forms in consult with our insurance company and area church policies; sent letters to recurring non-member church users advising of this policy; received and approved non-member facilities use requests for Farmers on the Square, Cantate Carlisle, and First Night Carlisle; authored the Sexual Misconduct Policy in accordance with recommendations from Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.); and implemented a tracking system for church key holders. In 2015, the Committee will continue to function in accordance with church policies while working to further increase the safety and security of our members and facilities. It will also monitor the newly implemented state child protection laws and modify our policies and procedures as needed. Respectfully submitted on behalf of the Committee, Ann M. Gottlieb, Chair

MISSION COMMITTEE Mission at First Presbyterian does not rest in only a Sessional Committee. Instead, Mission Activities are carried out through several groups in our church, most notably the Deacons and Presbyterian Women. The Session encouraged the congregation to turn our attention to our mission through a Mission Study. On Mission Sunday, we focused our attention on the mission of our church in preparation for calling a new pastor. Chris Gulotta gave a presentation about our community, highlighting needs and demographic information. Michael Gogoj led us in thought-provoking questions that identified the desire of many in the congregation to be more involved in mission activities. During Lent, we listened to beautiful music, enjoyed soup, and collected donations for Project SHARE. In the summer, several of our members volunteered to read to children as part of the community s Summer Program for Youth (SPY). And, on July 13, we focused on world mission activities and listened to inspirational words about world mission in our denomination from Rev. Dr. Mark Englund- Krieger, our Executive Presbyter. Two of our members shared their experiences as missionaries. Mike Stamey joined the Presbytery mission efforts in Honduras and Dr. Laura Crim joined a trip of local medical professionals to Honduras. Her husband and son, Ryan and Duncan, also provided medical mission support in Haiti. At Christmas, our congregation again supported local children by becoming Christmas Angels for the SPY program s youth. Throughout the year, the Books for Mission efforts brought people together at the used book corner in Fellowship Hall, and supported through the book sales the book/kits for new babies. We expanded our commitment to children s education and adult literacy by supporting the community-wide Buck-A-Book program. Our church generously supported local missions such as Project SHARE, Our Brother s Table at the Salvation Army, Safe Harbour, Samaritan Fellowship, and Carlisle CARES. Donations received at the Lenten soup lunches that followed the six Lenten organ recitals were designated for the work of Project SHARE; the Candlelight Christmas Eve Service offering went to Carlisle CARES; and the Christmas Eve Children and Family Service offering went to the Buck-A-Book literacy campaign. In addition, the church gave generous financial contributions to the broader church through Presbytery s Shared Mission Giving. Our church gave a special portion of this money to support Dr. John and Gwenda Fletcher, mission partners in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dr. John Fletcher is a surgical consultant to the eight hospitals supported by the Presbyterian Community of Congo, and Gwenda is an education consultant, helping to improve the quality of elementary and secondary schools. Respectfully submitted, Deborah Sweaney, Elder

STEWARDSHIP AND FINANCE COMMITTEE Below is a summary of the 2015 budget for First Presbyterian Church. As with any budget, this is an estimate of our anticipated income and expenses for the coming year. This estimate does not take into account any capital expenditures. The various committee chairpersons are responsible for monitoring expenses within their respective areas of the budget. INCOME General Fund Support This includes the white envelopes, plate offerings, per capita contributions, and Sunday school offerings. As you will note, the giving was about the same in 2012 and 2013, but we had a decline of approximately $12,000 for This is often fairly typical when a church is without a permanent pastor. As a result, we have budgeted $221,200 for The sooner that we call a permanent pastor this figure will grow and improve. Investments and Trusts These are investments that are currently held by F&M Trust Company, and the New Covenant Income Fund (which is part of the Presbyterian Foundation). The funds have historically generated between $15,000 and $20,000 in annual returns, which are then applied to our operating expenses. These monies are dependent on the performance of the stock and bond markets, and the success of the fund managers. In 2013, the finance committee transferred our trust funds from M&T Bank to F&M Trust. By doing so, we reduced internal fees and charges and created a new relationship that was more accessible with fund managers right here in Carlisle, rather than trying to work with someone in Buffalo, New York. We continue to monitor and review the performance of the New Covenant Funds which in 2013 and 2014 experienced fund manager changes. OTHER INCOME 2014 was the last year for receiving income from the federal Affordable Health Care Reform Act. For the past three years we received between $4,800 and $5,000. That federal program has ended. In both 2013 and 2014 the church did not receive any income from estates or other outside sources. INCOME SUMMARY From 2012 to 2014, our average income was budgeted at $244,686; our actual average income during this period was $259,695. Not knowing when we might expect the new pastor to begin their ministry at First Presbyterian Church, we are budgeting an annual income of $241,000 for Bruce Mulvey Chairman

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN Presbyterian Women (PW) completed the Horizon Bible Study, "An Abiding Hope", in May (PW) hosted three Fellowship Hours in 2014: The first hosting was in conjunction with receiving the PW Birthday Offering, with Cindy Corn as our guest. The offering goes to Carlisle Presbytery PW. PW decided to give an appreciation gift to Cindy, who in turn gave blankets to an Indian Reservation in Minnesota. The second hosting was in November to honor and give farewells to Evelyn Morrell who left us to move to Greensburg, PA. Thanks to Bob Davis and Kathy Mulvey, the occasion was lovely and very special for a lady who has given much to her church and her Lord. Lastly, PW hosted Fellowship Hour on PW Thank Offering Sunday. After learning from Bob Davis, a member of the Historical Heritage Committee, that two pulpit chairs were in need of repair, PW decided to pay for their restoration, which has been completed. In addition, a sofa was donated by Evelyn Morrell for the library. Two beautiful silk flower arrangements were purchased to use as pulpit flowers in March in memory of Peg Southall, who has given money to PW's use for kitchen and/or Fellowship Hall. Faith Circle is currently using a new Bible study, "Growing Older and Wiser", by Dale and Sandy Larsen. PW continued their project of providing gifts to babies born at local hospitals. The kits include baby hats and books. There were 156 baby hats made by dedicated, loving hands. Jean Kretzing Moderator (Treasurer s Report) M&T Bank Balance as of 11/1/14 $3, Santander Bank Balance as of 11/20/14 $4, Expenditures: Local Mission: Meals on Wheels $150 Safe Harbour $200 Salvation Army $200 Domestic Violence Services of $200 Cumberland & Perry Counties Carlisle Opportunity Homes $200 Other: Birthday Offering $378 Thank Offering $767 ~ A more detailed report can be obtained from Peggy McKeehen, PW Treasurer. ~

BOARD OF DEACONS The Deacons at First Presbyterian Church participated in a number of projects throughout the year, both within the church and outreach efforts into the community. Internally, the Deacons arrange for ushers to serve at each service. They also prepare a schedule of volunteers to serve throughout the year for the nursery during church services. The Deacons record, archive, and make CDs of all the services for distribution to homebound members and for our church s website. Each member of the Board of Deacons visits homebound members that are unable to attend our regular church services. Another service the Deacons provide is at funerals -- they order and prepare food to be served following the service. A very important Deacon function is to prepare and serve a Sunday evening meal three times a year for My Brothers Table at the Salvation Army. The Deacons have a sub sandwich sale each year as a way to raise money for baby formula for Project SHARE. Lynda Mann, Moderator Board of Deacons
