This describes what Jesus disciples experienced on the Sea of Galilee, and they thought they were perishing! Can you relate? Perhaps you ve felt the bluster of sickness or the storm of financial crisis or the waves of worry and anxiety. In the storms of life, know that the same Savior who was with His followers in the tempest on Galilee is with you today. The One who brought peace with His Word still gives peace in His Word and Sacrament today. Be still, my soul; your God will undertake To guide the future as He has the past. Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul; the waves and winds still know His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below. (LSB 752:2)

CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION Psalm 124:8; 2 Corinthians 6:2 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Since we are gathered to hear God s Word, call upon Him in prayer and praise, and receive the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in the fellowship of this altar, let us first consider our unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed, and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His people, we take refuge in the infinite mercy of God our heavenly Father, seeking His grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God, be merciful to me, a sinner. Almighty God, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life. Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Upon this, your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God to all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Almighty God, Your Son calmed the wind and waves by His Word; through that same Word, grant us Your peace; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Old Testament Reading: Job 38:1-11 (The Lord answers Job out of the whirlwind.) Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm. He said: "Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.

4 "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone--while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? "Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness, when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, when I said, `This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt'? Lector: This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Epistle: II Corinthians 6:1-13 (Having nothing, yet possessing everything.) As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain. For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation. We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you. We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us. 5 Holy Gospel: Mark 4:35-41 (Jesus calms the storm.) The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark, the fourth chapter. Glory to You, O Lord. On that day, when evening had come, Jesus said to them, Let us go across to the other side. And leaving the crowd, they took Him with them in the boat, just as He was. And other boats were with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke Him and said to Him, Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing? And He awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Peace! Be still! And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith? And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, Who then is this, that even wind and sea obey Him? This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You, O Christ. O God, in the midst of the storms of life, be our rock and fortress, an everpresent help in times of trouble. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Father, raise up workers for Your harvest field, for the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Help us to encourage children and youth to consider roles of service in Your Church. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Almighty, guide and give wisdom to the leaders of our nation and lands around the world. Watch over those who serve in the armed forces of our land, [especially...], granting them safety in their serving. Our help is in the name of the Lord,

OFFERING OFFERTORY Jesus Savior, Pilot Me Stephen Nielson HOLY COMMUNION AT ASCENSION The Lord, our Host, invites to his Supper those who are baptized into the Christian faith, confess him as Savior, have been instructed and have examined themselves, truly repent of sins, believe the Risen Lord is present in the sacrament with his true body and blood, and resolve to live faithfully and obediently. For those with an intolerance to alcohol, the center ring of the tray contains grape juice. Gluten free wafers are available to those with wheat allergies. Children who have not been instructed, yet desire a blessing, are invited to come forward with arms crossed. When receiving the bread and wine, the communicant may respond with Amen!, a word of affirmation and belief.

PROPER PREFACE It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, O Lord, holy Father, almighty and everlasting God, for You sent Your Son to calm storms, heal the sick, and forgive the sinner by His life, death, and resurrection. Therefore, with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and saying:
