4 The Reading of God s Word: 1 Timothy 1:5-11 & 15 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the glorious gospel of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. R This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God. The Gospel: Luke 13:1-9 There were some present at that very time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And he answered them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." And Jesus told this parable: "A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. And he said to the vinedresser, 'Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?' 4

5 And he answered him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure. Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.'" C Praise to You, O Christ. The Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. 8 TRINITY Announcements Join Pastor Marc for Bible Class on Sundays at 9:30am. We are studying the book of Jude. Jim Anderson Night at the Rays: On Thursday, June 30 at 7:00 p.m., our very own Jim Anderson is throwing out the First Pitch at the Rays vs. the Tigers game. Jim is an avid Rays fan, a WWII Air Force Vet, and a decorated athlete (Florida Senior Athlete of the Year in 2003.) There's a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the Narthex. Tickets are approx. $19.00 ea. Times of Refreshing Change: The next prayer service will be Thursday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m. with the church open for individual prayer from 3-5:30 p.m. Hospitality Weekend is June 25 & 26, when we gather between the services and studies for food and fellowship. Please join us for conversation, Bible study, and fellowship. Independence Day Celebration & Salsa Cook-off: Prepare your taste buds for Sunday, July 3, from 5-7pm. Bring a dish to share and your winning salsa! Vacation Bible School: This year, it s Deep Sea Discovery VBS on Aug. 1-4, (M-Th from 5:30-8:15 p.m.) & Friday, Aug. 5 at 10:30 a.m.-1 p,m. for grades Kindergarten through 5th. Trinity Lutheran is looking for a few computer geeks to help form a Tech Ministry Team. Duties include running the soundboard and PowerPoint, recording the sermon, controlling lighting and fog machine, etc. Please see Pastor Marc for details. 8

9 TRINITY Announcements, con t Trinity Lutheran has joined with Eckerd Community Alternatives in the Faith-based Champions for Children Initiative. We are praying for the successful placement of Nykia (date of birth: 1/28/1999.) Nykia is a down-to-earth young lady with an adventurous side. She loves trying things that are daring, such as skydiving or bungee-jumping. Nykia enjoys horseback riding and playing the violin. She also wants to start dance classes. Her favorite foods are chicken, broccoli and cheese, and her favorite color is purple. She loves to laugh and always has a smile on her face. Nykia adores animals and aspires to become a horse trainer when she is older. She is looking for a family who is close-knit, caring, and has a love for animals just like she does. For inquiries on Nykia and other children who are available for adoption, or for information on becoming a foster parent or adoptive parent, call or visit or The Trustees need a few good hands to help with maintenance of the church and grounds. Most jobs are easy and don't require heavy lifting or special skills. G.U.T.T.S (God Using Teens to Serve) is our Youth Group. Their monthly summer activities will be announced. Ladies Bunco Night at Trinity a dice game that is a reason to gather and socialize. Play on the first Thursday of each month beginning on September 1, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. LWML (Lutheran Women s Missionary League) is open to all women of Trinity. Meetings are the second Monday from September through May at 10 a.m. at church Men s Servant Event: The LLL (Lutheran Laymen s League) serves breakfast to the homeless from 8 11:30 a.m. the second Saturday of the month at the Volunteer Way, Moon Lake Rd. For more information, talk to Richard Moore ( ) Time of Refreshing: The sanctuary is open for personal prayer from 3-5:30p.m. the last Thursday of the month. A candlelight corporate prayer time is led by Pastor Marc at 5:30 p.m. Trustees meet once a month on the fourth Saturday at 8:30 a.m. or as needed.
