Order of Service for the Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost Welcome: Marc E. Nauman The Altar flowers are from Cat and Scott Ausdemore in memory of Kitty and Z Pazmany Bible Verse for September Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. - Psalm 54:4 Children s Blessing (10:30 a.m. service) Invocation P In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit C Amen. Introit Ps. 28:1-2, 6-7; antiphon: Psalm 28:8 P The Lord is the strength of His people; He is the saving refuge of His anointed. C To You, O Lord, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest I become like those who go down to the pit. P Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to You for help, when I lift my hands toward Your most holy sanctuary. C Bless the Lord! For He has heard the voice of my peas for mercy. P The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts. My heart exults and with my song I give thanks to Him. A Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. P The Lord is the strength of His people; He is the saving refuge of His anointed. 2
Opening Hymn Saturday Service: Blessed Be Your Name 8:30 a.m. Service: #733 Our God, Our Help in Ages Past 10:30 a.m. Service: Blessed Be Your Name The Confession and Forgiveness P Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith. C for through Christ we have access to the Father. P Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace. C that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Silence for reflection and self-examination) C Loving Heavenly Father, we need your grace and mercy. Our sinful nature is ever-present and our struggles go on. We have not loved as we should. We have not served as we should. We have not trusted as we should. We do not deserve Your mercy. But for the sake of Jesus Christ Your Son, have mercy on us. Give us the grace of forgiveness and strength in our time of need. Amen. Absolution of Sins Hymn of Response Saturday Service: How Deep the Father s Love 8:30 a.m. Service: #560 Drawn to the Cross, Which Thou Hast Blessed 10:30 a.m. Service: How Deep the Father s Love The Collect of the Day P O Lord, let Your merciful ears be open to the prayers of Your humble servants and grant that what they ask may be in accord with Your gracious will; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who live and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever, C Amen 3
The Reading of God s Word: Isaiah 35:4-7 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, "Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you." Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water... R This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God. R The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark, the 7th Chapter. C Glory to You, O Lord. The Gospel: Mark 7:31-37 Then Jesus returned from the region of Tyre and went through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him. And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue. And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him "Be opened." And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. And Jesus charged them to tell no one. But the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak." R This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ. The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not made, being 4
of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; Who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered, and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead; His kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Hymn of the Day 8:30 a.m. Service: #686 Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing The Message: Today or Tomorrow? Prayers of the Church P Lord, in Your Mercy C Hear our prayer! The Lord s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. Offering The Noisy Offering supports Trinity s Youth Group If you are a first-time visitor, please fill out a visitor s card & place it in the offering. 5
The Lord s Supper P The Lord be with you. C And also with you. P Lift up your hearts. C We lift them to the Lord. P Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C It is right to give Him thanks and praise. Admonition & Sharing of the Lord s Peace Sanctus Saturday Service: He Will Come and Save You 10:30 a.m. Service: You Raise Me Up Words of Institution P Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: Take, eat; this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after supper, he took the cup and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. Pax Domini The Peace of the Lord The Distribution of the Bread and Wine Distribution Hymn 8:30 a.m. Service: #547 The Lamb Post Communion Collect C We give thanks to you, Almighty God, that you have refreshed us through this Sacrament. We ask that, in Your mercy, you would strengthen us in faith toward You, and in love toward one another, through Jesus Christ Your Son, 6
our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever. Amen. The Benediction P The LORD bless you and keep you. The LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The LORD look upon you with favor and give you peace. C Amen. 9 TRINITY Announcements, con t Trinity Lutheran has joined with Eckerd Community Alternatives in the Faith-based Champions for Children Initiative to pray for the successful placement of Yaromie. Yaromie (born 12/22/2002) wants to serve her country as a Marine someday. But for now, Yaromie is happiest when she gets to hang out with her friends, as well as watch movies, like her favorite, Captain Underpants. She also loves going to the mall, mostly to look at shoes, especially if they are Converse. Yaromie also loves the colors red and black, the TV show Catfish, and Fetty Wap. At school, her favorite subjects are reading, math and history. If you re serving pizza or tacos, Yaromie is there, but she will pass on sandwiches. Yaromie s ideal family will have parents who like to spend time together as a family playing Monopoly on rainy days or going to the park or beach when it s sunny out. Siblings would be a bonus. For inquiries on Yaromie or other children who are available for adoption or for information on becoming a foster parent or adoptive parent, call or visit or Prayer Time: Pastor Marc and/or the Elders are available after each service for personal prayer time.
