2 WELCOME - A note for friends and visitors amongst us. We are glad you are here with us! A quick note about the Lutheran Divine service and what we believe about worship. To us worship isn t so much about what we do, but about what God does. Lutherans believe God is present with us through the Word and Sacraments we receive. In fact, we teach that in the Lutheran Divine Service, God comes to forgive us, to feed us, bless us and send us out into the world. Our Liturgy identifies God s performative work amongst us and as we receive this ministry of the Word and Sacrament we in turn respond to God through, responses, songs, prayers giving our thanks and praise. I am new to a Lutheran Worship Service, so should I go to the front for the Holy Communion or not? We teach that, Holy Communion is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ given with bread and wine, instituted by Christ himself for Christians to eat and drink. As you come to this sacrament, you come as: a sinner who wants God s forgiveness; a baptised believer who trusts that Jesus died for the forgiveness of sin; a guest who humbly accepts what Jesus gives: His true body and blood with the bread and wine; a witness who gladly joins us in our public confession of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. All who do not commune are still invited to receive an individual blessing. You can communicate your intention of doing so by simply folding your arms across your chest as come forward. If you have any questions about Lutherans Divine service or Holy Communion feel free to check with the Pastor at the end of the service. DELEGATES REQUIRED FOR THE VICTORIAN TASMANIAN DISTRICT CONVENTION 'Delegates are needed for the Victorian Tasmanian District Convention to be held in Hamilton, February The theme of the Convention is 'Treasure in Jars of Clay'. 8 WIDER COMMUNITY NEWS YOUNG ADULTS BIBLE STUDY RETREAT Young Adults Bible Study Retreat, being held on January The theme of this retreat is Galatians: No other Gospel and will be held once again at Tandara Lutheran Camp in Halls Gap. For more information please visit: FRON IER Enable, Empower and Release FRONTIER is a church planter mission practitioner program within a residential year designed to enable, empower and release individuals for church planting missional ministry within the local church. FRONTIER s formal learning units are spread across two semesters, and delivered locally from St Luke s Lutheran Church, Albury, an offsite campus of Melbourne School of Theology. BELGRAVE HEIGHTS SUMMER CONVENTION 2018/19 Our Summer Convention starts this year on Friday 28 December at 9.30am and finishes on Tuesday 1 January at 2pm approximately. It is obvious to most of us that we live in a world where our faith is under constant challenge. There are "other gods" being promoted by the world around us, and they can easily begin to have an impact on our own spiritual health. We believe that Belgrave Heights Summer Convention 2018/19 will help to equip, refresh and encourage us and also equip us to help those around us.
