He ha.f risen from dead.. So 1/w women hurried away, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disci pies." Malthew 28:7-8 The Lenlen and Eas1er seasons are when we especially focus on the key cvenls on which the Christian faith is based: Jcsu!' death on the cross and resurrec tion from the grave both of which actually happened in history! II ere are a few of the im pli<:ations of these events that make them incredi bly good news: Jesus' resurrection dcmonslratcs God's power o cr physical death. Together the Cross and Resurrection show that sins really can be forgi vcn. Gi\'CS legitimacy to Jesus' teaching about life. Shows God has the lost word in the world 1hot is often hard and unfair. The texi. says that the women who were the lirst witnesses to Jesus' emply tnmb were "afraid, yet filled with joy'', which I think sug gests that while they hnd some faith and sense that this was good news, there was a lot they didn't understand Perhaps like them you have some doubls and would not consider your faith especially strong; though I suspect you would not be reading a church newsletter if you did not a.lso like them have at least some faith. My question is: whatever measure of faith you have in this good news, are you, like those women. sharing this news with Olhcrs particularly with those who don't yet believe it? This Lenten and Easter seasons I want to encourage you to first sbon: up your own faith by n:all) digging into the questions and doubts you may have, especially the ooes related to the cornerstone events of the Cross and Resurrection and 1heir implications. Read or listen to talks by wise and skillful Christian communicators aboul these matlers. Ask questions of followers of Christ who you know and respect for their faith and wisdom. And while you are seeking to grow yourself, pray daily for someone with whom you regularly interact and who is not ycl a follower of Jesus. A neighbor, coworker, or maybe someone in )Our family; pray that this would be a season in which God would open their heart and mind to the reality and releyanoe of this good news. Let me warn you though: if you do persistently pray this for someone, it's vr:ry likely that the Lord will lead you in wa)'s that make you part of the answer to your prayer! Blessings in the adventure, 'Salt
