Everyone is welcome. We ll celebrate and give thanks to our Lord as a congregation for the results of our 2019 Stewardship Campaign. There is a sign-up sheet in the Gathering Space to indicate what you will bring (meat, vegetable, dessert, etc.). We hope you will join us for food, fun & fellowship. Community Thanksgiving Service Sunday, Nov. 18 4:00 pm This is the sixth consecutive year that our congregation will be hosting the Community Thanksgiving Service. The worship service is sponsored by the North Dare Ministerial Association and is a chance for people from all congregations throughout the Outer Banks to come together to offer thanksgiving and praise to almighty God. Chaplain Cherri Wheeler will be preaching, as well as ministers from churches throughout the Outer Banks. A community choir will also participate. If you haven t been before, please make plans to join us. If you have attended in the past, please help spread the word to your friends and neighbors! Vital Signs November 4... 6 News Around Outer Banks Presbyterian Church! Sanctuary Flowers The flowers this morning are given to the Glory of God and in thanksgiving for all of our Veterans, both living and dead. Celebration of Life - Today Gentle Expert Memory Care (GEM) is holding a celebration of the lives of our loved ones who are living with dementia or who have passed. It will be held at St. Andrews by the Sea in Nags Head today, Sunday, November 11, at 4:00 pm and will include music, poetry and prayer. Please join us. Thanksgiving Food Bags The Beach Food Pantry will be collecting Thanksgiving items for people in need again this year. We hope you will participate by filling a bag with specific items that produce a Thanksgiving dinner. Last year our church donated over 50 bags! Filling one of the bags at Food Lion or Walmart costs only $ $ Paper bags with a list of food items will be distributed following our service today and collected from you on Sunday, November 18 or you may bring them by the church office this week. Third Thursday Luncheon The next Third Thursday Luncheon will be held on November 15 th at Sugar Creek Restaurant in Nags Head. We invite all church members and guests to join in the food, fun, and fellowship. To insure the restaurant has enough places set, we need to know the number who are attending no later than noon, the day before the lunch. New faces are always welcome! Cultural Crossroads Cultural Crossroads is a new series sponsored by the North Carolina Humanities Council Road Scholars and hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Outer Banks (UUCOB). The first event will be held on Saturday, November 17, at 7:00 pm at UUCOB, 831 Herbert Perry Road, Kitty Hawk. Dr. Lucinda MacKethan, retired Professor of English at NCSU, will present Slave Voices in North Carolina. For a complete listing of programs in this series, visit and click on Events. Next Week s Sermon November 18: 1 st Samuel 1:4-20. Hannah wants to have a child, but she is barren. She prays to God and promises that if she has a child, she will dedicate that child to serve the Lord. God hears her prayer and Hannah gives birth to a son named Samuel. Hannah is deeply moved with gratitude. On this Sunday before Thanksgiving, for what do we have to be thankful? Why is it important for us to live as grateful people? Room In The Inn Fundraiswer On Friday, November from 5 to 8 pm -- a fundraiser will be held at Sugarcreek Restaurant. (Choir people -- there is a rehearsal starting at 7 pm that night. You would need to be at Sugarcreek at 5 pm). 20 local restaurants will each bring 3 pans of food for participants to choose their meal from. There will also be a silent auction from Local Retailers. Tickets are $25 each. Lynda Wood and Jeanne Martie have tickets. Poster is on a church bulletin board between the restrooms. Angel Tree We hope to have our Angel Tree displayed in our Gathering Space very soon. We are currently waiting for the names and the number of children we will be providing Christmas gifts for this year. We hope you will consider purchasing a gift for the children. Veterans Collection The Outreach Committee will be collecting items for veterans living in the VA Hospital in Hampton, VA. The collection will take place from Nov Suggested items are listed in the November edition of the church newsletter. There is a container in the Gathering Space in which to place your donations. Ruthie s Kitchen Meeting Ruthie's Kitchen meeting -- after church today -- in the conference room next to choir room. We will decide the menu and who is bringing what. We are doing Ruthie's Kitchen on Dec. 4.
