10 UCC Camp Meeting - June 14-17, 2017 We hope you will plan to attend 2017 camp meeting, June 14-17, 2017 Our guest speaker will be Mark Finley Mark currently serves as special assistant to the president of the general conference of Seventh-day Adventist. **Linwood will be streaming the service on June 17.** Pastor Mark Finley has been involved in Christian ministry for more than 35 years, preaching, teaching, offering spiritual growth workshops and presenting health lectures. He currently serves as a special assistant to the president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Pastor Finley also ha a passion for medical evangelism since the beginning of his ministry He often invites physicians to conduct health lectures during his evangelistic meetings. He serves as General Conference Advisor to AMEN (Adventist Medical Evangelism Network). He is married to Ernestine, his partner in life and ministry and they have three adult children. Peter Kulakov is a television evangelist, founding director of the first Christian Media Center in the former Soviet Union, pastor, and overseas missionary. He was born in Kokand, Uzbekistan and raised in central Russia. In 1992 he appeared at the Kremlin Palace of Culture for 12 days as a Russian translator for American Evangelist Mark Finley. 12 UPPER COLUMBIA CONFERENCE NEWS Camp Meeting Upper Columbia Conference camp meeting is June at Upper Columbia Academy. There are so many great seminars you'll want to attend them all. And the opportunity to listen to both Mark and Teenie Finley along with Peter Kulakov and Paul Hoover will be a blessing. When you arrive at camp meeting, come to "Guest Services" in the gym to purchase your meal tickets. Enjoy a fun run on Friday morning and the opportunity to donate blood. You will need to arrive on Sabbath morning, June 17 th in your full dress uniform no later than 8 a.m. for a 30-minute practice and we will include you in our color guard for the Worship Hour service. This is a great opportunity to serve! Prayer this Week This week, graduations in our UCC is already in progress, bringing great changes to each graduate. Please pray for these graduates as their daily routines draw to a close, and new adventures and blessings await them. Please pray for God s leading in each of their lives as they make plans for the future and that each will want to keep God close by their sides as they look to the future. Seventh and Eighth Graders: Now is the time to apply for a College Bound Scholarship Seventh and eights graders in Washington State can apply for the College Bound Scholarship. This scholarship is an early commitment of state financial aid to eligible students who sign up in middle school and fulfill the College Bound Pledge, part of which is to graduate from a Wash. high school or home school with a 2.0 GPA or higher. (for full pledge go to website given) This scholarship can help students earn an approved certificate or degree at one of Washington's many eligible institutions which include public and private two- and fouryear colleges, technical colleges etc. Walla Walla University is one of the approved schools. 16 We Believe That the Bible is the final authority for all belief and practice for the Christian (2 Timothy 3:16-17). 2. That there is one God revealed in three persons God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17: Genesis 1:26). 3. That we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (John 3:16, 1 John 5:12-13 & Ephesians 2:8-9). 4. That Christians who have been redeemed by Jesus will live in obedience to all of His commandments (John 14:15). 5. That Jesus will come again very soon (John 14:1-3). 6. That the requirements of the Ten Commandments are still binding on all people today, including the seventh-day Sabbath of the fourth commandment (Matthew 5:17, Exodus 20:8-11). 7. That the judgment which will decide the eternal destiny of all people is now taking place in heaven (Daniel 8:14, 9:25-27). 8. That when a person dies one does not go immediately to heaven or hell, but rests in the grave as one who is asleep awaiting the resurrection (Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, John 5:28-29, 11:11-14). 9. That after Jesus comes again, the people of God will judge the world with Jesus, following which fire will fall from heaven to completely devour the wicked and purify the earth (1 Corinthians 6:2-3, Revelation 20:4-9, 2 Peter 3:10-13). 10. That God, as a loving Father, wants us to live healthful lives avoiding foods and substances He has declared unfit, and actively pursuing positive lifestyle habits (Leviticus 11, Proverbs 20:1, Daniel 1:8, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). 11. That the followers of Jesus will live pure and honorable lives making sure their business, recreation and relationships meet the Bible standard (Philippians 4:8). 12. That God gives spiritual gifts to His people for the purpose of ministry. Given by the agency of the Holy Spirit gifts provide the abilities and ministries such as faith, healing, prophecy, proclamation, teaching, administration, reconciliation, compassion, charity and other gifts. (1 Corinthians 12; Rom. 12:4-8; 1 Peter 4:10, 11). 13. That the Seventh-day Adventist Church fills a special role in the world today to prepare people for the 2nd coming of Jesus (Rev. 14:6-13). 14. That we will grow as we spend time with God in prayer, as we feed on His word and share His love through witnessing.(2 Timothy 2:15; Ephesians 6:18; Galatians 5:22-25) 15. That the Bible teaches that all who have accepted Jesus as their Savior/Lord, and who intend to obey all the teachings of the Bible should be baptized by immersion (John 3:5; Mark 16:16 & Matthew 28:19-20).
