We hope your visit is restful and enjoyable. We look forward every year to the participation of summertime visitors at our daily and weekend liturgies, and I invite you to join in other parish activities as well. (2) We pray for peace and tranquility in our nation at home and abroad as we look forward to observing Independence Day on July 4. (3) The Summer Mass Schedule Has Begun: Check the list of Masses in this bulletin if you are uncertain. At St. Margaret in Old Orchard Beach, note that we must lock the parking lots after the 4:00 pm and 9:30 am Masses due to loiterers and the resulting complaints of neighbors. (4) Gatherings for young adults: Our parish regularly sponsors various events for young adults, whether married, single, engaged or dating such as Theology on Tap and potluck suppers. (5) From Pope Francis apostolic exhortation on the joy of the family, Amoris Laetitae: The family itself introduces fraternity into the world. Relationships between brothers and sisters deepen with the passing of time, and the bond of fraternity that forms in the family between children, if consolidated by an educational atmosphere of openness to others, is a great school of freedom and peace. In the family, we learn how to live as one (n. 194). Growing up with brothers and sisters makes for a beautiful experience of caring for and helping one another. For fraternity in families is especially radiant when we see the care, the patience, the affection that surround the little brother or sister who is frail, sick, or disabled. It must be acknowledged that having a brother or a sister who loves you is a profound, precious and unique experience (n. 195). Contemplate and Share: Who do you treat as a brother or sister? How are these relationships different from others you have? What have you learned about the love and patience of God through your siblings? How are you like your siblings? How are you different? What does this suggest to you about the diversity and unity of God s family? When have you found it hard to have a sibling? Are you having a particularly difficult time with a brother or sister right now? Who might help you to deal with the hurt, sadness, or disappointment so that you may restore a good relationship? A possible Joy in Action for this week: Plan a family barbecue or summer outing with your parents and siblings. (6) Cool It! I find that St. Joseph Church in particular can be very uncomfortable on the hot and humid days of summer, especially Saturday evenings. I remind everyone that both St. Philip in Lyman and Most Holy Trinity in Saco are air conditioned. St. James School Summer Office Hours thru Aug. 27 Open Tuesdays/Thursdays: 9:00-Noon Recently, the third graders presented their reports as part of a Wax Museum where they researched their famous person and then dressed up like that person. When a certain cue was made, they came to life and reported in the first person as if they were the character they portrayed. Students look forward to this, and fondly remember who they were when they did the wax museum. (These pics are just a few of the many, creative individuals!) July 19 (Thurs): Theology on Tap in Saco with Sean Hagerty, SJ: "Making Moral Choices in an Era of Subjectivism" Come join other young adults on Thurs., July 19, 7-9 pm at The Kerrymen Pub in Saco (512 Main St), upstairs in their room for groups called Mary s Room. Theology on Tap is a gathering of young adults (ages 18-39) that features food, drink, fellowship, & engaging discussions on topics of interest to Catholic young adults. Sean is a Jesuit scholastic studying for the priesthood and teaches at Cheverus high school. Last year, he completed his Master s degree in Philosophy with a concentration in Ethics. In this presentation, Sean will share some sure moral principles to guide our decision-making, and demonstrate how to apply them in different scenarios. Please join us! 5 The Fr. Zénon Healing Service is going to be: This Mon., July 2, 10 am, at Ste Anne Chapel. The Friends of Father Zenon meets: Tues., July 3, 10 am, MHT CR. Biddeford Food Pantry Volunteer Needed 1 day a week on either Tuesdays OR Thursdays from 8 to 11 am. Knowledge & experience of QuickBooks, Excel, and Word preferred. Friends of Father Zénon Décary are hosting a NOVENA to ask Father Zénon to intercede for us to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in reparation for the sins committed against life issues, including but not limited to war, suicide, abortion and all other offenses which take away one s dignity. The NOVENA will begin on July 18 th and end on St. Anne s feast day, July 26th. A closing ceremony will be held at 6 pm on the 26th in Ste. Anne Chapel. Individual NOVENA prayer booklets will be available at entrances and exits of most churches. No one will be handing them out, so please look around for the booklet or call Lucille at for a copy. This will be a fitting memorial in honor of Father Zénon s death. Come or not, but please pray the NOVENA. Rivière Retreat: This ten-week Prayer Experience based on Scripture and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius is designed for persons who wish deepen their relationship with Jesus and bring their daily life into dialogue with the Word of God. Most of these facilities are aging and regularly require all sorts of repair and maintenance throughout the year. Your support is always appreciated. Second Collection Next weekend - Major Expense Fund - The parish objective is to remain debt free, but we need your support to do that. This collection will enable the parish to begin accumulating funds to help pay for major repairs and replacement of building and grounds components that are not annual or routine in nature. They tend to have a longer life cycle and generally cost $7,500 - $10,000 and more. Some examples of these items would be window replacements, repaving parking lots, roof replacements. Thank you! This position is first and foremost a relational ministry that invites youth grades 6-12, and college students at UNE Campus, into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. The successful candidate will have a solid background in catechetics, preferably with a BA in religious studies, theology, pastoral ministry or related field.
