Remo Giazotti, This musicologist specialized in the music of the Italian Baroque musician Tomaso Albinoni, He said that he based this 1949 reflective Adagio on a fragment from a collection of Albinoni s music preserved from the Dresden bombing. Processional: From The Glory of God in Nature Beethoven. Offertory: The King s Speech Alexandre Desplat This musically prolific Paris-born composer conveyed through a minimal musical accompaniment the sadness of the King s handicap, and then portrayed the growth of trust and friendship between him and his therapist, along with the patient ongoing struggle to overcome. Postlude: Allegro from Piano sonata in K V 279. W. A. Mozart. You could close your eyes, reach into the treasure trove of Mozart s music and be confident that you would come up clutching a sparkling allegro which by its charm will nourish and delight you like this one! 7 Trade Aid there will be a stall after the service this morning, giving you the opportunity to stock up on coffee, chocolate, and other goodies. Christmas Choir Practices for Christmas music will start on Thursday 13 th October, 7.30pm, in the Lounge. This is earlier than normal, as we will also be performing for the St George s Iona concert which is happening in November. New members are always welcome. Contact Bryan Gainsford on Cashmere Hills APW - Wednesday 19 October 2pm Cashmere Hills APW will be meeting in the Cashmere Church Centre on Wednesday, 19th October at 2pm. The programme has yet to be arranged. There will be a sales table. All are welcome. Christchurch APW Country Day Wednesday 12 th October The Ladies who are going on the bus please meet at St Martin s Church by 8.55am. Lunch will be provided. There will be some stalls for you to browse around and make purchases. Cashmere Connection The next issue is due out at the beginning of November. If you have any items for this publication, please get them to the office by 28 th October. Notices The Worship committee would like to remind people who have notices that these can be either phoned through or ed to Gail or David by Friday prior to the Sunday service. The Worship committee is very conscious of the time that announcing notices takes and would like to keep this to a minimum. If you are not able to do this then the person on Notice Duty on Sunday should be given the notice to announce. Your assistance is appreciated. 8 Forum There will be no Forum this week Meet the Candidates (Port Hills Electorate) Wednesday 9 th November, 7.30pm, at St Peter s Catholic Church Centre, 9 Fisher Avenue, Beckenham. Candidates from all the major parties have been invited to attend - there will be the opportunity for questions to be asked. Christian World Service Pakistan Flood Appeal Torrential rains have caused record flooding in Pakistan s Sindh province. 6.5 million people are affected and nearly two million homeless. Two million acres of crops have been damaged so far. CWS partners are already delivering food, water, shelter and other supplies to 48,000 highly vulnerable people in four districts. They are organising two mobile health clinics to treat water borne and other diseases as well as assisting pregnant mothers. Can you help them do more? More details on the notice board, or visit Church Life Survey Council of Assembly would like all parishes to take part in this year s Church Life Survey in November. This is an interdenominational survey that looks at the views of individual church members. The survey is anonymous and the organisers have ensured that privacy is protected. Each parish automatically receives a series of written reports of their results. The survey consists of a form (designed take about five minutes) which every adult fills in at church on one Sunday in November. The Church Life Survey is undertaken every five years by an interdenominational committee. The Presbyterian Church has participated in this survey before, but the last time most parishes took part was 10 years ago. This years survey will cover all major denominations and many nondenominational churches.
